Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Beta Thread | PS4 Weekend

Hmm, I don't know how to feel. I don't hate it, but something about it feels off...

The guns sound so weak, idk what's up with that.

Finally got the beta to download after having some issues. Way too early for true impressions but I have to agree the TTK feels off to me too. Can't tell if it's connection based or what, but my performance is frustratingly bad coming off of BO3 where I have no problem going positive the majority of the time. Losing so many firefights (like, almost all of them unless the enemy literally isn't firing back) just doesn't seem right.

EDIT: Well a couple more matches and playing with some different guns did help a bit. Went positive or even over my next 3 matches, but the feel still isn't great. I'll give it a fair shot at launch & can see having fun with it if the maps click. I'll play on X1 though because I prefer the controllers.

Question, why does the DS4 sometimes flash yellow while playing? I find it super distracting when playing in a dark room. It was just charged, so that shouldn't be it.

Feels a hell of a lot like Black Ops 3 all around, which isn't necessarily a bad thing I guess. I was just hoping for it to feel more different.

I sort of dig the idea of unique guns with their own perks/killstreaks. A legendary gun with a built in Nuke killstreak for 25 kills is an awesome idea. Shame it has to go through that key and box nonsense.

If someone with three codes to spare can PM me so I can get my whole squad in on this, you'd be my best friend forever and ever a thousand years.

I don't think so, whilst it's true that COD4 has a low ttk, and m16 is very powerful, the fire rates on COD4 are a lot slower, there is also juggernaut which raises the ttk, not to mention that the M16 isn't easy to use contrary to popular belief, there are also times when you can fire 3 bursts at someone cross map only to have them escape.

I think a lot of people have pretty rose-colored glasses when it comes to COD4's multiplayer, just because of how revolutionary it was at the time of it's release. The list of "bullshit" that was in this game that has been culled out of the franchise over the last decade, that people take for granted now, is a mile long:

- 3x grenade perk spam
- Being forced to use stopping power or juggernaut
- Rampant headglitching spots (looking at you, Bog) spots in open map layouts where you can be mapped by the M16 at any moment.
- Martyrdom
- Last Stand
- Really bad silhouetting of players in general. Windows of the two-story buildings in Overgrown are a great example; you're practically invisible.
- Only two modes of spawning: Spawn-trapped or spawn-flipping every 30 seconds

I won't debate COD4 has got some great, great maps though.

Not sure why you guys are so surprised, there is a reason MW is being included. The real Infinity Ward is at Respawn.

All that combined isn't as bad as spawning in peoples sights over and over as every COD after WaW.

I feel kind of bad for taking a key away from someone in the key thread. This was even more disappointing (for me) than Titanfall 2.

People know these short fallings. I even mentioned in the cod4 thread that I'll take it as is. For the record martyrdom at the time was definitely something ugly but seeing where this series is now, it's more tame.

MW2 is the game that deserves this "rose tinted glasses" talk more then anything since it's the game the majority started COD with and where it's popularity outside of gaming started to take place. When we get the remastered watch how it goes back to being the internet darling again.

It's slowly growing on me but so far Black Ops 3 was a much more polished experience when it hit open beta last year.

As long as the net code issues disappear I think we are in for a decent experience

I don't really get how I'm suppose to play games with movement like this game on a standard controller. Your air mobility requires holding X, your ground mobility requires holding circle, but by doing so I can't aim anymore because my thumb is on the stick. It's just really awkward to play.

PS4 really needs an official "elite controller" with paddles. For games with movement like BO3, IW, Titanfall, etc, it really makes a world of difference. Playing with KB/M like I usually do isn't really an option either because COD is dead on PC, unfortunately.
Easy, you switch to jumper controls.
It's the best way to play FPS on console.

Same graphics,same phisycs,same menus,same perks,same scorestreaks,same gameplay,same everyting...As the last 4 or 5 CODs,I lost the count.I am done with this franchise.

These maps are straight garbage and are a direct cause for the awful spawns. They favor one play style and one play style only. Absolutely zero reason to pick up a sniper rifle. I cannot wait until the MWR. It's been a while since you could set up some claymores and snipe people from one spot the whole game.

As somebody who had over 17 days of playtime in Black Ops 3 I can say without a doubt in my mind that this is one of the biggest disappointments in my gaming history.

The EMC handgun is like the most reliable gun for me. I literally run it as a primary with the Karma SMG as secondary if I need to reload.

Keep in mind I play CoD like a headless chicken/weird arena shooter.

EDIT: Can you even get penetration kills/wall bangs in this game?

Yeahh it's not very good. It feels like BO3 with the specials and movement except with a more bland design. The classes have no personality and are your generic future-tacticool-man #56. Even the robot is a step backward from Reaper in BO3. "Soulless" is a good way to describe the whole thing honestly.

Played a few matches and decided it wasn't for me.

Soulless is a perfect word for how it felt.

Yeah... my complaints mostly fall in line with others in this thread, but I want to add that the art direction is absolute garbage. Everything was so coherent in BO3, while in this everything is a mess.

The game completely lacks any semblance of character.

Yep it's soulless, the graphics are a disappointment...They're the same as Ghost graphics, bland and washed out.

The maps are awful, no strategy to them..if you try to hold a room someone is bound to come in through one of the 5 entrances and shoot you in the back...combine this with the awful spawns/ttk and the game is just hot garbage.

Losing Stopping Power is one of the biggest mistakes the devs ever listened to.

Anyway, this beta. COD has become an arena shooter for a few years now but why, is Quake still popular or something?

It really is a fitting description.

Yea I've only played a few, but this is the vibes I'm getting.

I would've been perfectly happy with BLOPS 3.5, but yea this isn't it, more like Ghosts 1.5 which is a terrible thing.

They had better have some incredible single player because this multiplayer feels like ghosts with elements of black ops 3 added in.

It even seems to be doing some asset flipping between advanced warfare and black ops 3.

And I deleted it. Don't need to waste time with this crap.

This game looks worse than Black Ops 3 graphically imo. Anyone else feel the same? The one rig that sorta helped me match my Black Ops 3 play style was the Synaptic. The map design feels like they created way too many paths to come from which is the exact opposite of Treyarch map design. Some people may prefer maps with all kinds of paths but I'm perfectly fine with 3 way lanes. TTK is way too fast in this game and I think Black Ops 3 had a perfect TTK for CoD. I also hate the fact that sound whoring is almost impossible in this game, maybe it'll be better once I get the perk that increases footstep sounds but without it it's almost completely silent. I never planned to buy this game anyway and I'm perfectly content waiting for the next Treyarch game while I play Black Ops 3 as my go to CoD for the next 2 years.

Ghosts looks better to me.

So just had an update 1.02 .. now I can't even get in the game wtf ...
Error codes polana and istria wtf guys come on ..

Atleast before I'd wait 5 or so mins and get some time in now can't even get to multilayer wtf

I'm a bit puzzled here, was there some kind of in competition during development about who could come up with the worst weapons? It's like they went out there way to build the crappiest array of weapons they possibly could.

Been playing CoD multiplayer heavily since CoD4.

I am liking this so far. Graphics look good and the weapons feel great. Loving the customization, though it did lose quite a bit in that department compared to Ghosts. I wish I had more systems from Ghosts in play instead of going with Black Ops 3.

So the game is more of poor mans black ops 3? With that that terrible loot system what they had in Advanced Warfare? I hated it so much and also locking guns behind micro dlc as in black ops 3 is even more terrible.

The graphics are sharp like cod:ghosts but in the same way it lacks depth.

I feel like it's a ambient occlusion and shadowing difference from other games. Everything just looks really flat.

The last CoD I actually played was Blops 2. I dont remember the snipers being that annoying with No scoping. Kinda shitty when I get the jump on a guy and he snipes me with a 1 hit kill. The movement with the boosters throws me off as well.

Absolutely disgusting.

This game makes no attempts to distinguish itself from the past few games, instead it borrows heavily from them right down to the UI. I never really thought the argument that COD was just a reskinned experience every year made any sense whatsoever. But I think this is the first one where I can honestly agree with that reasoning. Shooting feels off, especially the sound, and getting a kill is barely noticeable. The only time I really feel a death is when it's my own. Graphics are a step down from AW and BO3. Map design- lordy lordy- It's like it was an afterthought. There's just so much shit going on it's like the movement system wasn't even taken into account. Seriously what is the point? Not to mention all the corridors and entrances make you liable to get shot in the back.
