Calling BS on this terrible Nintendo story

The most hilarious shit about this thread is that the outrage is over Nintendo's name being possibly tarnished

Not the young girl who will never look at a couch the same again

His uncle relies on that janitorial job at Nintendo headquarters.

I remember my classmates playing pranks with each other involving Lightscribe'ing a DVD-R and putting pornography after few minutes of expected legitimate movie, then lending such a disc to each other instead of legit one. Funny thing is, they ended up trusting DVD-Rs with randomly scribbled titles more than any discs with monochrome, "solid" art.

The disc substitution scheme is hardly surprising after that.

The Wii U can't play dvds, I don't know if this changes anything haha

I once traded in a bunch of games but only afterwards did I realise that the disc for Revengeance I'd traded in was still in my console, I had seen the guy check the first few games that they included the disc, but he must have skipped that one.

I also accidentally traded in a disc for Far Cry Instincts in the case of Far Cry Instincts Evolution. Only realised when I later found my disc for the latter in the case for the former.

It's completely possible this is true.

But also fuck The Sun, don't read The Sun or give them even a single click, use any other source other than The Sun. It's an absolutely vile rag, the lowest of the low.

Why even care enough to call BS on it? Like if it was real, so what? Those things happen. Nintendo isn't going to die.

My thoughts exactly. Some of y'all need to stop acting like Nintendo or any company is your best friend who also happens to be your mom.

I posted about this before, but I bought Gran Turismo 2 brand new after midnight on launch night at Walmart. Opened it in the car. It was plastic wrapped and even had the old CD jewel case sticker along the top (remember those?) unbroken. Inside was the manuals and some beat up 2 disc live Bruce Springsteen CDs. Don't know if it was done at the disc pressing factory or somewhere in distribution, but it definitely does happen. I felt extremely lucky Walmart believed me and exchanged it or I would have been hosed.

People don't need to defend Nintendo over it. Dunno about Nintendo's games but I think most games are actually outsourced and pressed by a third party company, not necessarily at the console manufacturers factories.

Sounds like single mama and her f*** buddy accidentally put the wrong disc in her daughter's Splatoon case and no it's gotten way out of hand.

Like others have said, it is completely possible but from such a rag, who knows if this particular case is true.

I myself have been a victim of a new sealed case being emptied and resealed. Throwing a useless DVD in there before sealing it is one small extra step to make the theft more believable and harder to immediately notice

Thread seems a major over reaction. Sun isn't even the source and Nintendo is clearly not at fault. It's just a story about a bad Christmas gift.

One time I bought a n64 and when I opened it it was filled with tire tubes. So yea it could happen.

I wonder how much the OP would have cared if it had been a non pornographic DVD.

I mean are we talking straight to DVD Seagal flicks or something like a Hitchcock film? Or what if it was a screener for Moana? Would there be outrage?

This one of the reasons why I like the original and true packaging just to be left alone. I can understand that stuff like this could still happen, but it would be pretty impossible.

Also, like others in this thread have said and what is stated on the FAQs on the official Nintendo website, the Wii U can't play DVDs or Blu-rays.

British tabloid, The Sun, posted a story of how a woman from Ohio bought a copy of Splatoon for her daughter, only to discover that there was a pornographic DVD inside the case.

What are the chances of this happening? Is this BS? It seems extremely unlikely like anything like this could happen in the supply chain.

It would be interesting to know if this is actually true, or just really shoddy journalism from The Sun.

I bought a copy of Mario Galaxy that had some random DVD in the case. I'm not really sure how that happened but I was lucky the staff at the store let me return it and actually get a copy of the game.

It's possible an employee of the store swapped the discs. I have seen cases of Walmart employees swapping games with AOL trial discs, and resealing the package with the store's equipment.

The Sun = Murdoch = Australian Geriatric that made shouting at clouds a billion dollar business to a point were it can get people elected/impeached for (not) shouting with them at said cloud = I don't care due to Murdoch.

One time I bought a copy of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 for the Dreamcast from Wal-Mart. When I opened it on the ride home there wasn't a game disc, but only a single Q-Tip. It's not quite porn, but I was a still a very disappointed kid who had no need of q-tips.

This is no slight on the OP, if you aren't from the UK it's probably not as obvious, but it's incredibly sad when you think of some of the sites banned on here and yet a link to that festering shithole of a website is absolutely fine.
