Calling it now. Bethesda is doing Metroid Prime 4.

This makes no sense at all dude please, are you ok? Are you drunk? Because I know I am, but even drunk I know this makes little sense.

What a horrific thought that is if you mean Bethesda the dev. I'd like to have good gameplay in Metroid thanks.

Didn't Nintendo already announced that they are developing it internally? As in no third party or even second party developer?

Lets lay out some facts.

1. Nintendo says that RETRO is NOT doing metroid prime 4 but another studio is.

2. DOOM 2016 and Wolfenstein 2 are both coming to the switch.

3. Bethesda has said they are working on an unannounced game and no one knows what it is......

I think the math is there. Nintendo has gotten Bethesda to do Metroid Prime 4 with the ID tech 6 engine.

Maybe its ID not Bethesda.

Bold statement. Would you be willing to wager you Gaf account?

Nope. This idea is preposterous. And insane. And offensive. And I don't want Beteshda near any Nintendo IP.

Can Beteshda make fun games? Absolutely.
Are those games full of bad bugs and repetitive contents, which all look like the same after a while, and need the help from the mod community to make them worthwhile? Yes.

I see your logic but its flawed in a couple of places. One of them being is ... lets just say it ... software quality. A messy Metro is just not going to go over well. Big N won't have that. They also don't have the story culture to fit the metroid universe. Howard loves Nintendo and I am sure he would like to do it, but its not in their ball park. But I do get the OPs logic.

Now you want to get real weird? FROM is working on something. They are not saying anything. Would that be weird? Platinum? Someone is doing it, I wonder why its being kept so quiet.

Ok I should have said ID. Not Bethesda. ID can do atmosphere and good shooting/platforming mechanics as we saw in doom. They are experts at level design and world building.

Why is ID software such a stretch? With guidance from Nintendo I can see it being awesome.

Eh. If they were really getting a big name team on this, they wouldn't burden it with the Prime name. Instead, they'd just create a new Metroid franchise. This is almost certainly being developed internally.

They're bigger than Metroid.

Haha.

Look a Tango Gameworks and Arkane.

Bethesda Softworks would form a studio to make a Metroid Prime-like IP that they own before they make a game for someone else, let alone give it to Bethesda Game Studios .

edit: OK, you didn't actually mean Bethesda Game Studios

I would be more okay with id but only in a hypothetical because I still don't see it ever happening.

On one hand, I think you're connecting dots that don't exist. On the other, it'd be a pretty epic bump if you're right and have a thread full of people shitting on your idea.

God I hope you're right. Half because I actually think it would turn out great and be a huge get, and the other half to spite majority of this thread.

Bethesda doing MP4? Makes sense, there are quite some space-bugs in previous Metroid games and Bethesda is well known for making bugs in games.

Like, all three Bethesda Switch games are coming from three separate studios. Bethesda Game Studios != Bethesda Softworks. And every Studio is working on / just finished making games except Bethesda Game Studios.

Metorid Prime's segmented level design with separate rooms is literally the worst possible fit with BGS's Creation Engine. You don't expect them to make Metroid Prime, do you? Do you?

This is one of the most insane videogame theories I've ever heard.

As long as it is iD and not main Bethesda studio, it might work.Otherwise we get an open world full of bugs and ugly NPCs with boring encounter design.

If it was by ID/Arkane my dong would expand 10 fold.

Heh you said it.

Y'all need to go play Prey to see how Arkane would knock a Metroid out of the park.

When I think of external studios, Arkane woild easily be my first pick. Just bring in the combat designers from ID or Machine Games to tune up the feel of combat.

The closest Bethesda would have on this game, is publishing Arkane Studios' Prey, which would be a suitable developer for a Metroid game.

ID software in collaboration with fucking Nintendo to make the next METROID PRIME would be the most insane timeline.

I'd buy it.
