Calling it now. Bethesda is doing Metroid Prime 4.

reality, they started development a little earlier than the samus returns team, over two years ago.

Todd howard only saw the switch demo and started getting interested last year at e3. Switch's success led to doom and wolf ports.

They are not making metroid

Heh you said it.

Y'all need to go play Prey to see how Arkane would knock a Metroid out of the park.

When I think of external studios, Arkane woild easily be my first pick. Just bring in the combat designers from ID or Machine Games to tune up the feel of combat.

Really disliked a lot of aspects of Prey despite being grabbed initially by the plot. No thanks.

I mean, Arkane would be a fine fit, provided they were guided by Nintendo, but they just released Dishonored 2 and Prey back to back. There's couldn't also be working on Metroid Prime on top of that, unless you didn't expect this game to not show up until, like, 2020.

And id just finished DOOM a year ago and is currently working on Quake Champions. There's absolutely no way this would be happening.

Yup, that's right everybody. The video game publisher infamous for strong arming developers into meeting ludicrous milestones so they can swallow up their studio for themselves is going to make a console exclusive game using someone else's IP.

This a crazy idea that I'd never even imagined before and now that you've mentioned it I actually wouldn't be surprised at all if it happens, lol.

Aspects such as?

Dont forget Dishonored Death of the Outsider releasing tomorrow. Arkane puttin in dat work!

The only way I'd trust Bethesda with Metroid Prime 4 is if Miyamoto is in the room the entire time, forcing them to do it right. They'll cheap out on the gameplay if left to their own devices, I just know it.

Why would any Bethesda studio do this anyway, when they have the marketing and IP power to just make their own games and far, far more money? Mercury Steam they ain't.

Dont forget Dishonored Death of the Outsider releasing tomorrow. Arkane puttin in dat work!

Wow, that is tomorrow. They have less than 200 people, right? Just a bonafide game factory over there.

I would rather prefer that ID work on the next Doom and Arkane work on the next Dishonored or Prey. Bethesda needs to work on the next elder scrolls. Let some new people who've never worked before do Metroid.

DOOM 2016 team would be Perfect.

Yeah, id Studios has incredible map design with the most recent DOOM, I just don't see them sacrificing sales on other platforms to put the developer to work on this one game.

HOWEVER, if Nintendo struck a deal with them, just by having this studio and publisher attached to the game, it would make WAY more people interested in the series and the console immediately if they weren't already.

Really awful combat and enemy design throughout the entire game, a plot that relies on too many twists and misdirection and forgets to tell a story with a satisfying conclusion, several awful sections like GUTS, all of the zero G space stuff that go on for way too long, sidequest chains that require heavy forced backtracking rather than organic discovery, list goes on for me. Entire thing felt like a slog.

Definitely seems way more plausible after today than it ever did before.

The 180 on this Bethesda/Nintendo relationship has given me whiplash.

Ok I should have said ID. Not Bethesda. ID can do atmosphere and good shooting/platforming mechanics as we saw in doom. They are experts at level design and world building.

Why is ID software such a stretch? With guidance from Nintendo I can see it being awesome.
I don't think your idea is nearly as crazy as people here try to make it out to be. Nintendo has said it's a new talented team. Perhaps Nintendo and Bethesda worked out a deal to form a special team using one of the development teams they own. We know it's not an internal team and they are not creating a new development studio just for Prime 4. I think it's likely they are working with a 3rd party developer that has assembled a new team to work on Prime 4. I don't see them going to indie partners for an HD title of a Prime-caliber title. In terms of 3rd party developers that have released a lot of varied and quality FPS, there are a limited amount. From there we know Nintendo has been getting close with Bethesda doing a lot of co marketing for Skyrim Switch. We also know Nintendo loves Skyrim so they probably already thought highly of Bethesda. It's still a long shot but I don't think it's as crazy as people make it out to be.

Also people in this thread act as if Nintendo won't be actively involved in development of Prime 4 and weeding out bugs and technical issues. They have much higher standards of quality that they will hold to Bethesda to if they use their ip.

Haha no. Their studios are all way too busy. Bethesda is bringing games to the Switch because their engines are easily scalable and because being the only western AAA publishers on the Switch ensures that their games will sell particularly well in the platform without the competition of EA, Activision, Ubisoft etc.

I'm actually putting my money on MP4 being developed by Sakurai. I know it's crazy but he puts together new teams for every game he makes and it's been over a year since Smash development ended. It's a longshot but I feel it more than Next Level or a no name western developer.

Honestly in a weird way it'd make sense. Nintendo wants the best First Person experience for there FPS game. Who better to hire than the creators of the genre.

didn;t Nintendo say it was being developed by a new in-house team? I remember seein a press release after E3 but can't find it now

Are you high?

This has already been said but for the sake of it no, they have never clarified if it will internally developed or not.

Not enough dots here to make anything but a vague connection.

I don't see Bethesda, a relatively small studio whose products sell well on a variety of platforms. wanting to waste resources a game being sold to only a single platform.

And using an IP that they don't own
