• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Calling it now. Bethesda is doing Metroid Prime 4.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I could maybe see an argument that DOOM and Wolfenstein would be tests of the engine on Switch that could be the groundwork for Metroid, but even then, I don't really believe it.

No way dude. If it was Bethesda, we would've already known. There wouldn't be any reason to hide the fact that they're making it.

No.

Bethesda Softworks' developers will not work on IP from another video game publisher.

The only time they wouldn't work on internal IP is if they acquired the rights to an IP originating outside gaming (like the rumored GoT). This is similar to EA getting Star Wars and CDPR getting The Witcher and Cyberpunk.

If ID did it, then it would be like both sides of my childhood (the DOS/PC gamer who grew up with Keen and the NES gamer) would converge, and it would be too much for me to handle.

Funny, a couple weeks ago I was floating around the idea in my head that Ubisoft could be making it, now I kind of wonder if id could be, haha.

There would be riots in the streets, burning skies and GAF melting down.
Probably not.
I like your idea OP. Don't let logic, reason or other gaffers convince you of your holy path down the rabbit hole you got this idea from.
Also, Bethesda would make the Metroid game Metroid fans truly deserve.

TBH I wouldn't mind an iD, Machine Games or Arkane versions.
I think they have the pedigree to make a new and great version of the Metroid Prime formula.
But, the chance for this to happen is as slim as the plank length.

Those maths work with any third party publisher that release games on Switch.
I don't know why Bethesda is different.

1. Nintendo says that RETRO is NOT doing metroid prime 4 but another studio is.

Well, yeah but really, this could mean any studio

2. DOOM 2016 and Wolfenstein 2 are both coming to the switch.

I guess this just means they're supporting the Switch which is great.

3. Bethesda has said they are working on an unannounced game and no one knows what it is......

Fallout 4?

.

None of the points you made connect to each other except by multiple assumptions.

Can't wait for Samus nude mods ;)

Metroid Prime 4 by the Prey team from Arkane

That is not a lot of information to draw this conclusion lmao

You might as well say Ubisoft are working on Prime 4 because they are bringing Rayman and Steep to the Switch and have already proven themselves with a Nintendo property

Quick someone make a thread

A 3rd party dev finally releases some software on a Nintendo console and the two seconds into it you assume that means they're now working on first party IP?

I think the engine just scales very well so they were like "fuck it, why not?".

It's MercurySteam and the only reason Nintendo hasn't announced that yet is because that developer doesn't have the greatest track record and they were waiting for Samus Returns to come out with an overwhelmingly positive reception so that when they announce it is MS working on Prime 4 ppl go "yeah! The Samus Returns team is back!" As opposed to "eww, the Lords of Shadow guys?"

It's not a wish. It's a prediction I've been saying since E3. If I had it my way it'd be From Software working on it.

I'd Love an ID MP. Love. But has to be horror exploration: puzzles + backtracking + putting the suit together + demon pirates FPS action.
