If every earlier episode of Camelot was a 5/10 this the finale was a solid 7 out of 10 in my opinion.

However, I cannot believe they
killed MILF-GODDESS
. Never watching again! >:(

Lol.

After that scene where Arthur builds like 8 million traps, I was really expecting a Home Alone sequence.

Why the hell did Arthur hang around all by himself anyway? Wasn't he staying there to cover the others retreating down the path? He had plenty of time to leave after that attack, as the raider boss thought for a while that Arthur was dead and did not attack again until hours later. What was the purpose of Arthur staying by himself all night? The writing in this show continues to make absolutely no sense. Half the scenes in the show fail to satisfy basic logic like this. Most of the shit Merlin does makes no sense, he's the most incompetent Merlin I've ever seen.

I didn't even find this episode amusing in a it's so bad it's good sort of way. This shit shouldn't be renewed.

I think he felt guilt that he lost his men's respect and stayed out of some form of penance

Once Arthur hadn't returned like he said he would, they figured that Arthur was there to the end, to gain some form of respect back.

I thought the show was pretty lackluster up until the last three episodes. The finale was pretty good so I'll give it a shot next season.

The trap scene was funny though. I agree that I don't really like Arthur's actor. A small time-skip and a recast wouldn't phase me.

I agree with many of the posts about the disappointing Arthur and kind of lame Merlin.
"Oooohhh, I'm Merlin. I have all these powers I can't use. Brood, brood, brood."
Also Igraine bothers me to no end. She hated Uther, then is disgusted with
Morgan for killing him. Plus she falls for the guy who took her baby, the one
she "looked for every day".

Personally, I think that a weak Merlin is better than the stereotypical all-powerful and wise version, and one point I will actually credit to the writers is that they have not relied on Merlin's powers as a deus ex machina to solve Camelot's problems or to save characters that should otherwise have been killed.

I seriously think they didn't show a powerful Merlin because they could not afford it, all their money went to god knows what already.

lol yes. I loved how during the big fight Arthur was busy throwing blankets into peoples faces, while everyone else was you know, not fighting like a 12 year old.

And I agree that the portrayal of Merlin was fine, there was that risk of making him too wise and all powerful, or too weak and passive. He's definitely leaning toward the latter, but I imagine that will change.

There's no solid proof Morgan did it, it's just one persons word against another. In this case, the nun's words hold more authority in the eyes of the commoners.

I personally liked the season and hope it gets a second.

I hope it does not get another season so Eva can go on to bigger and better things, if it does get a second season I hope for new writers please god.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I had to show on while i was on the browsing so was able to get through them all, if I had to sit down and watch the whole thing by itself probably wouldnt be able to.

Eva Green sure is fuckin hawt though.

^ LOL.

The idea that someone mentioned earlier of season 2 jumping forward in time a few years needs to happen, there's absolutely no reason to pick up the series immediately after the events of season 1.

They can show those events in flashbacks if they must, but the timeskip makes too much sense for them not to do it.

If they do a time skip let enough time pass that they can replace the actor who plays Arthur. Seriously, who thought choosing a Twilight actor was a good thing, here?

If you actually had a competent writing staff (like the Spartacus crew), the premise of a scrawny, unassuming guy becoming this great king is really not that bad.

But of course their writers are absolute shit who completely wasted a huge budget and mostly capable actors.

EXCLUSIVE: The second series of the Irish-filmed historical drama ‘Camelot’ has not been greenlit for production in 2011 by US Network Starz.

Despite attracting the largest ever opening for a new drama series on Starz for its US premiere on April 1st and large UK audiences of 2.5 million for its opening night on Channel 4, IFTN have confirmed that the second series of the epic series will not go into production. The industry will view this as a blow to the film community in Ireland, with the first series of ‘Camelot’ filming in Wicklow’s Ardmore Studios for six months during 2010, bringing an estimated $32 million to the Irish industry.

game of thrones rendered this show redundant whether the ratings were good or not. eva green is now free to birth shadow babies on hbo.

I'm very curious to find out why it was cancelled. It was a terrible show, to be sure, but the ratings warranted a second season, I think.

Starz Declines Option To Renew 'Camelot'

EXCLUSIVE: Starz said today that due to significant production challenges, the network has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of its freshman original series Camelot. We've heard that scheduling conflicts with some of the actors were part of the problem for the Ireland-shot costume drama, which stars Joseph Fiennes, Jamie Campbell Bower and Eva Green and takes off on the King Arthur legend. GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Prods produced. Camelot wrapped its first season earlier this month by drawing 1.5 million total viewers, the second-highest viewership for the series behind its two-hour premiere, which set a network record for a series bow. It had been on a ratings upswing for its final few episodes.

The official statement from Startz was "Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of 'Camelot' with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions,"

The first season had a monstrous budget, a million viewers an episode may have simply not been worth the reported $70 million it cost.

Yeah, thanks, I just read that. It seems that it was due to "production challenges" and scheduling conflicts.

Not at $7,000,000 an episode.

I would imagine, perhaps incorrectly, that while the large budget factored into building the sets, costumes, etc. the budget wouldn't be so high for a second season since all of those things are already there. Still, the first season had an outrageously high budget, so even if it was significantly cheaper to produce a second season, it still might have been too expensive.

But if lowish ratings were the case, why did they allow for such a large budget to begin with in the first season? The ratings they got were pretty good on Starz, and the IFTN website seemed to indicate strong international ratings, so if those weren't good enough then what were they possibly expecting? A Walking Dead caliber hit? No way.

In the end, I'm glad the show was cancelled, as it WAS terrible, but I'm also a little sad. It was great fun to mock the show and roll my eyes at all of the cheese. It was very reliable in that respect.

She'd fit right in on Mad Men.

I can dig it.

As for the cancellation, I hope this means they'll pump some of that money into Spartacus: Season 2. Preferably pumped towards improving the CG, so they can pull off big battles without it looking ridiculous.

Do the right thing Starz.

Just give the money to Game of Thrones. I know it's on a competing channel, but you know you want to.

Interesting thought. They also have 4 other series in various stages of development, so perhaps they'll throw some more money into those? Spartacus probably needs most of it though, you're right.

I could not get into it.
Camelot has four incredible things going for it:
Eva Green and Claire Forlani.

Everything else is tedious.
Even Joseph Fiennes makes Merlin tedious after you get over the whole "oooh Merlin is an asshole how cool" bit.

Camelot canned. That's what they get for killing off James Purefoy so early (yeah I'm still mad). Hope they dump that money into Spartacus and hopefully some of the show's cast will go on to work on some other HBO/Showtime shows (Eva Green on GoT or BoardWalk Empire please)

oh thank the Gods it's not coming back

Camelot was so bad it was actually infecting my television. It has boils on it like a plague victim

Given that a STARZ show could never draw huge numbers...yeah, even at $7m an episode, they probably would have been happy. Perhaps they just realized it was crap and it wasn't going to get better (what I'd like to think).

Kind of a shame, but since I didn't watch the last couple episodes, I won't bother buying the blu ray. Oh well, The Borgias and Game of Thrones were awesome enough for me.

Good the show fucking sucked. I really do hope to see more of Eva Green though she was the only good part about it.

I gave up after 3 episodes I think. So I'm guessing it never got any better?

Not really. The terrible writing and over-acting remained a constant through the whole season.

Though I admit I did kind of enjoy watching it for laughs.

Even with the weird green lighting and the aspect ratio that crops off people's heads and stuff? Ouch.

I do love me some Excalibur though, Helen Mirren incestuous babymaking and all. Oh well!

literally the only positive thing to come from this show was the Eva Green sex scene. I mean when the only reason to watch any second of a show is for a one minute sex scene you know it's awful

dunno if this was posted,

but the actor who played Arthur WAS in game of thrones but he was recast when they reshot the pilot.
