Heroes 5 is bad when you come from KBTL though...

It's sluggish and annoying and the leveling sucks and it's slow and there are no spirits

Well Heroes 5 is supposed to be like Heroes 2 and 3, not like King's Bounty so you have a point there, it's no King's Bounty. You have to control lots of cities and resources and the randomized leveling is part of the challenge. It's much more a TBS than RPG than King's Bounty. Still, it will last you forever. Single levels (of which there are hundreds) can take multiple days to finish if you don't game 8 hours a night.

King's Bounty is every kinds of awesome. It surpass HoMM and Disciples II. Its that good.

Also, play some free roguelikes. You can't go wrong (or rather, you can, constantly, but you'll enjoy it) with Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup.
