Can I turn off a Divine Beast? (BOTW Spoilers)

Sorry! It really bothered me a week ago seeing that "Eventide Island" thread on the front page a lot (because I didn't know there were any islands yet, etc) so I know how you feel. Couldn't think of a better title because I am an unimaginative person :(

Huh. Just realized I will have to do Eventide Island all over again if I restart a third time. Should be fun, haha. Can try and beat it a different way than last time.

You think the existence of islands in a game counts as a spoiler?

If you beat the Running Man in a race while carrying El Puerco, he opens the way to the Light Temple where you can find the Lumis Obstructis after defeating Lightblight Ganon. You can use this to block the light but only after you find the secret fourth Triforce piece.

I heard this on the playground during recess.

Fucking El Puerco! I thought I'd gone back to 2002 for a moment there!

"There's something called Eventide Island in the game and, apparently, it's a big enough deal to warrant its own thread on NeoGAF." I didn't particularly care that I was tipped off about it before finding it... However, I can understand how, in a game that does the whole "exploration and discovery" thing so well, it could be kind of a drag to some to have that surprise kind of taken away.

Of course, if you're that sensitive to spoilers, you can't expect to be here and not stumble into something that will bother you.

Divine Beast Issue(s) as a topic title could have had work...

I'm sorry that this bothers you so much, I didn't consider it before but it probably would have made sense for some kind of option to cut off the beam. Being able to see the Divine Beasts and their beams is actually my favorite non-gameplay part of the entire experience of this game. Reminds me that my slaughtered buds are watching over me.

When I beat the first Divine Beast, this exact thought of an ugly beam marring the sky crossed my mind... but it's pretty faint and I put it out of mind. I think Nintendo took this into consideration and made it thinner and transparent compared to the way it looks in the cinematic when they first set up and shoot the beam. Now that would have been hideous.

Yeah I checked everywhere online before making this thread but no one else mentioned it so I guess I have some kind of unique mental problem. Probably will grit my teeth and keep playing (currently in the Korok forest where it's foggy and stuff so I can't see the beam. Very soothing for me that way) but if it keeps bugging me after I leave that area I might just restart the game again.
You probably don't need to restart. You could probably just load an old autosave from before you defeated the Beast and continue from there.

Look at all these lasers!

Fuck my life, please don't let this be real
Nothing would surprise me at this point. I wouldn't be at all shocked to see someone lose their mind about spoilers after being told that the right stick controls the camera in this game.

I actually like the beams, they help me find my bearings and I like being able to see the impact that I had on the game world.

All things serve the beam.....

I suffer from OCD OP, real OCD not the trendy meme that people assign to themselves when they simply enjoy order and organization, and it sounds like you've got a worse case than me; and that's pretty notable considering I've gotten into arguments with the wife over how she places her shoes in our designated footwear area. I feel for ya, it only gets worse with age.

Unfortunately I tried this too late. No saves left from before I beat the Divine Beast.

It started bothering me after reading this thread.

Damn you OP

This was honestly my biggest fear from posting this thread. Sorry! Maybe we can learn to love the beams together? I am gonna try hard to appreciate them properly while exploring more of Hyrule this weekend. If it still bothers me on Monday I will just restart the game again. My favorite games always get played multiple times anyway :)
