can the Lara Croft game have a no kill play thru?

Am I the only one to point out that bangai-o is calling Tomb Raider "the Lara Croft game"?

that's just weird

OP has a point.
Of course it won't be possible to do a non-lethal play through in this (or any) Tomb Raider, but to tone down the combat element (and the human element) has been one of the constant requests from a good chunk of the fandom for years.
There are a lot of TR fans that like the exploration, platforming and puzzle elements, but consider the combat (at least how it is presented in the games) to be superficial, if not damaging, to the experience.

Many people saw this reboot as the opportunity to change that, hence the great disappoinment in the E3 footage, with guns and killing to no end and the high focus on "killing" and "murder" as central thematics for the character.
With the reboot of the character, it was a great opportunity to get rid of those stupid guns and focus on exploration, but it looks like they've actually gone the opposite way.
Too bad.

The original Tomb Raider had a "featuring Lara Croft" at the bottom, and latest entries (i think after the movies) were called Lara Croft's Tomb Raider. :P

Nope, Lara has always been a killer of people and animals just not as much as Drake, but less of the people and more of the poor poor animals, lol.

But then Uncharted has always been advertised as an action game with shooting elements rather than an adventure with exploration elements.

Please dont compare Nathan Drake to Indiana Jones.

facepalm

The games? Nope
....but the character of Drake is marketed as being that.
Drake was marketed as family friendly, lol?
I've never seen such advertising, an "every man" or whatever the saying is, but never family friendly.

And from memory Indiana Jones has killed a number of people in his time, but he also isn't a game character, I don't see anything wrong with comparisons, it's evident that they use him as inspiration.

You realize she's been blasting dudes, wolfs, demons, dinosaurs and all sorts of shit in the face since her first game right?

Nope.
She blasted maybe 2-3 humans in Tomb Raider 1 (don't remember exactly, it was NOTHING at all like the mass-murdering in Tomb Raider:Legend + Tomb Raider: Underworld) and in fact 1 human in total in Anniversary and that one was in a cutscene via QTE and also had quite an impact. Which is how it should be.

It's just what you do when you want to seem cool and "not really into it."

Yo, you ever played that Master Chief game? Something bout aliens and angel hats....

Man, you gotta pick up this phat new Commander Shepard joint. What? Nahh, it's not about sheep herding, fool.

I'm telling you, this new jumping plumber game is OFF DA HOOK. Riding dinosaurs and eyythang.

He didn't say she killed a city worth of people, lol, just that she has been killing people since the first game which is right.
Of course the people killing sure ramped up as we went through the sequels.

Thank you for the invitation. I must go though, my people need me.

(Is the PC version Steamworks? I have store credit and want to buy it there but I love my steam! Can someone say "Steamworks for Steampunk"?! Lol).

I don't think Steamworks has been confirmed just yet, but with Bethesda publishing, I wouldn't worry. I'm hoping GMG works its pre-order magic as the release date draws near.

Edit: Oh, wait, yes, it has.

I actually do this too because of Lara Croft and the Guardian of light, I thought it would be the naming scheme they will be using for the newer games

I really hate the fact that she explore these exotic tombs for treasure & murder the innocent local animals that inhabits those places for years.

Killing humans is ok though.

Well, to be fair, the animals attack her first. I'm sure, if the animals left her alone, she wouldn't have to use her guns. It's all selfdefence!

But it was worded like "she was blasting dudes" as if the whole mass-murdering was right from the start. Which it wasn't. I checked, 5 dudes in total in TR1 (and mind you, TR1 was 15-20 hours long) and all of those were so called bosses. Humans in TR1 were quite rare anyway. So actually humans should have been at the end of his list and not right at the start. There were many more animals (and later demons) in the game. Still shooting stuff wasn't the main objective in the game. And clever people outran the animals.

ALSO at least the last few human bosses in TR1 are out to kill Lara. They get told by Natla to "kill her". So the actions can be seen as defending herself purposes (which is further shown in TR:Anniversary, where those bad guys kill themselves while trying to kill her). So she is not the agressor. In TR:Underworld for example she climbs on board of a ship, which makes her the invader and agressor. Same for the new Tomb Raider - she sneaks to "enemies" and kills them via bow + arrow. The only human kill that I could defend by now is the almost-rapist. If that was the only kill in the game, I would applaud Crystal Dynamics.

Yup all Zenimax/Bethesda games use Steamworks now.

On topic with this game, it should also use steamworks! All Square-Enix games use it too now.

Amen.
Unfortunately TR has been a franchise a bumpy road, just thinking about certain levels like Area 51, the Skyscraper in 5, or the whole Angel of Darkness... ugh. :(

I wouldn't mind this. I'd only like to kill wild animals in a TR game. The tigers in the first game are still horrifying.

Killing people is less satisfying in games such as this one IMO
