The last few days before he left was hard. I was close to tearing up inside the gym everytime I thought that was it, those were the last few days I'd get to spend with him. Thankfully, I had more strength than I thought and managed not to do that (cry in public). I'm sure I saw him with slightly wet red eyes too from time to time. When that happened, he walked away from me and exercised far away from me for a while before coming back, which made things doubly hard for me because it made me even sadder.

To be honest, I hate the whole "men are not supposed to cry" bullshit that society imposed on guys. Unfortunately my friend seems to subscribe to it and my father also drilled that down on me ever since I was a kid so neither of us were willing to truly say/show what we actually felt because neither of us want to look 'less manly' to each other. Stupid, eh?
