Can we talk about Avengers Infinity War a bit?

I really hoped Red Skull would we back by now because I liked Weaving in the role and they made him look badass in the movie, but from what I've heard Weaving is completely against returning. I wonder if they could recast him since you don't need to see his human mask anymore. It could be anyone.

Also, Benecio Del Toro as the Collector is pretty underrated. I really liked him in Guardians.
What this has to do with Infinity War? Nothing. I just wanted to vent.

Actually, he expressed an interest in returning late last year.

In terms of deaths and heroes getting rekt:
-It's safe to say that in the first one we'll see the death of
Vision
(
probably trying to save Scarlet Witch
)
-Strange's gonna get his ass handed to him (of course he won't die and by the end of Avengers 4 he'll be the most badass Supreme Sorcerer motherfucker in town).
-Cap will die. Or Thanos will take out the Super Soldier Serum in him and leave him powerless. But my money is on sweet horrible painful death.
And of course he'll wield the Mjolnir and say AVENGERS ASSEMBLE before that

Brace ourselves, fam, 'cause this train ain't stopping any time soon. Gonna be a wild ride.

You heard that did ya

Well obviously, they don't have the rights to Silver Surfer, or Adam Warlock, or pretty much any of the cosmic entities since they are all owned by fox.

Maybe they could introduce Blue Marvel, who is strong enough to go toe to toe with Thanos and is pretty much as smart as Reed Richards.

Adam Warlock
is in the first Guardian of the Galaxy, albeit in the background.

Needless to say that Marvel has the rights to that character.

Yknow what I never thought that would be a thing. But I can see that raising the stakes for the BIG moment.

I'm pretty concerned that they've been teasing Thanos for like five years now and have yet to make him seem like a compelling villain in any way. He just seems like another superhero movie villain who yells all his lines and 90% of his character will be defined by his appearance.

"Thanos, I've come to bargain"

- Dies

Rewinds Time

"Thanos I've come to bargain"

- dies

" Thanos......"

Loop x Infinity?

Thanos Surrenders as Dr Strange is getting on his nerves

End.

Nah just kidding

Heh. Hopefully he tries this BEFORE Thanos steals the Time stone from the Orb of Agamoto.

Lowered expectation for me after Days of Ultron and Avenger Civil War.
Didn't like them that much. But Im one of the minority that don't think Dr. Strange and Guardians are that good

So, are there currently any MCU characters that could even hope to wound, stun, or hurt Thanos? It sounds like he is totally OP, at least as the comics have defined him.

Hulk came the closest, if memory serves.

Could Dr. Strange just banish him to some alternate dimension or something? It sounds like he is nearly indestructible and incredibly strong, but not really capable of altering reality in the same way that Strange is.

Yes, but Thanos has power and he's also very ingenious, so he usually finds ways around such things.

I have to bite my tongue in threads like this... I've seen a lot of 'things' for this movie over the last few months. That are freakin awesome.

Very impressed. Don't ask for any specifics' :p

What the hell is the point of telling us then?

Since I don't know how to post pictures of the infinity event. Here is a link of Thanos bitch slapping Thor and Hulk.

https://www.quora.com/If-Thor-and-Hulk-teamed-up-could-they-beat-Thanos

In Ultimates he took on all 5 members, he tanked Captain Marvel going binary and Blue Marvel's Anti-Matter blast at the same time and Spectrum trying to fry his brain from the inside. (Blue Marvel can make Captain Marvel go binary without breaking a sweat, I think he is the only one that can do it). It took Black Panther and Blue Marvel to build a device that could block his synapses in his brain from firing to temporarily disable him.

if Thanos can conjure up a force field to block a magical hammer, then he can probably conjure up a force field to block any type of magic.

However in the movies, Marvel likes to portray weak villains so by the time Thanos comes to Earth, he will have most likely rely on the Reality gem where he could bend reality at his will, or the space gem where he could build a portal to anywhere in space, time, and dimensions at will, so really Dr. Strange's magic will be useless. Even the
Eye of Agamoto (Time gem)/SPOILER]] would have nothing against the Reality gem.

Fine, no specifics. Tell us some super vague stuff then to at least make this tease worthwhile.

At some point, I fully expect Thanos to beat Thor with Mjornir.

I'm in love with the MCU but I am kind of scared it'll be too bloated and too much. Plus the comments about Thanos NOT being in love with Death are....well that sucks. I'm a huge stickler for comic accuracy in many things, and this is the one thing they didn't need to mess with.

We'll see, but I'd rather be doubtful for now.

Maybe Cap will die like he did in the comic? Nonchalant back hand slap that shatters his neck killing him instantly.

Iron Man went down pretty bad too. IIRC it wasn't even Thanos.

This is all informative and interesting, but since our heroes are so hopelessly outmatched I can't help but think they will beat Thanos through some kind of unsatisfying backdoor workaround. Like he's just going to have some kind of secret weakness he never bothered to protect himself against because "Hubris". I think it will be an interesting trick to make that victory feel natural and earned, rather than just gained through contrived plot armor. 2 Hobbits shouldn't have been able to beat Sauron, but when they do it doesn't feel cheap or corny. I hope they can accomplish this with Thanos' inevitable defeat.

Yah but unfortunately with the way they are touting Captain Marvel's power levels in the MCU, they will probably just have her go binary at the end and tank Thanos. Which would piss me right the f off and I would be done with Marvel movies. But knowing Marvel's history with weak ass villains, this is the most likely outcome.

Eventhough this happened.

Thanos recently got over Death when he was promised death in the comics

Nah, I'm thinking one of the things they take from the comics is that
he doesn't end up as the last one with the Gauntlet on
.

Age of Ultron felt so bloated. Ultron sucked too, so boring. Film felt like a Transformers film. . . you know, soulless McDonalds for your eyes.

I found Avengers 2.5 (Civil War) a little better paced. But the ending felt flat.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if the first movie focuses heavily on Thanos. We still haven't really seen a great Marvel Villain.

I will also be really disappointed if heroes don't die in this one... Even if they end up coming back in the future, comic book style.

Kingpin in Daredevil, Shadow King in Legion, and Pruple Man in JJ are all incredible.

The movies have definitely been lacking though

Boy did it have its moments, though.

This is true. It wasn't a bad story, but it's not what I wanted nor expected.
Are theaters ready to host their long-ass MCU marathons where they play every movie over the course of a nearly 40 hours?
"Sir, sir I'm sorry you can't sleep there. No. Sir! You cannot-we don't have beds-no I'm sorry sir. Wait what are y-oh no. Sir this is in public! I don't care about your bedtime rituals! Sir, if you do not leave this instant, we will be forced to call the police!"

I don't want to say too much, but some heroes, can't specify whom, show up and get into a big battle.
Watched Episode 7 yet?
Not a part of the MCU, was the point of pointing that out.

He can take out Hulk and Thor with just his own strength alone.

Only an awful writer would allow this to happen.

In the Thanos's Quest mini-series, when he confronted the holder of the Power gem, he mentioned similarities between that character and the Hulk, then added how fighting the Hulk was something he had always tried to avoid.

Can Thanos beat the Hulk? Maybe, using guile and his other cosmic powers, but on his strength alone? Don't think so.

Who do you think it would be?

There's been 4 people that did in the comics.
Nebula, Warlock, Cap, and BP.
Back when they cast Karen Gillan as Nebula, they said she was going to be an important part of the universe. When they said that, I generally assumed that this is going to end the same similarly to how the comic story ended, with her wearing the Gauntlet after taking it from Thanos because he let his guard down.

I though the comic story ended with
Adam Warlock taking over the gauntlet? it's been so long since I read it.

He did it recently. Whenever they wanna reinforce his scariness they have him tank impossible feats of strength. It's cheap, but it's par for the course.

IIRC, the comic story sequence of events is that he becomes Eternity but leaves his physical body there, Nebula takes the gauntlet off of his physical body because he can't move (since he's The Universe now), the heroes basically defeat her (Warlock specifically), and then Warlock ends up with the gauntlet (which leads to the part where he goes on trial as to whether or not he should be allowed to keep it).

Probably too much going on to have a focused narrative that can stand up to The Winter Soldier but I'm sure it'll be a fun watch at least the first go round.

If they are stretching this across two movies (with movie or movies in between) I hope they build up Thanos because having him sit on a chair and then get totally owned by Ronan isn't how you build character.

Russo Bros proved they can handle an ensemble cast in Civil War.

I have faith Infinity War's massive cast will be done right.

Not really. Civil War was basically Iron Man, Captain America, and Bucky feat Black Panther... and hey look air port scene!

It probably won't have the strongest storyline but if the Civil War airport scene is anything to go by, Infinity War could be the most epic comic book movie ever, when it comes to the action anyway.

I mean, most of the movies have been leading up to this anyway, telling little bits of the story, so I'm betting on it being lite on story and just get on with the action, as it will have a lot to do in 2 hours 30 (ish)

Only an awful writer would allow this to happen.
They have to, imo. So far, in the MCU, we know that Hulk is an absolute monster. With a single punch, he took out an entire alien worm thing. He's strong enough to throw around gods, like Thor and Loki. Iron Man had to build special armor just to fight him, and he still beat the shit out of Tony. And I'm sure we'll see more incredible feats of strength in Thor 3.

Imagine at the climax of the movie, he comes back with the same ferocity from out of nowhere, the music crescendos, and he throws all his might into a punch to Thanos' head. And Thanos just shrugs it off.

That would instantly give Thanos credibility as a huge threat that they can't beat and have us wonder what the hell they'll do in Avengers 4.
