To be fair to op, there IS an issue with Chrome at the moment that's making GIFs a pain in the ass.

To anyone experiencing the problem look for the issue ticket on the chromium board and have your say, OR...

get Waterfox

Just turn off images. I find that most people who post nothing but gifs have nothing to say worth reading anyways and don't really contribute a damned thing to threads. So far, it's improved my gaf experience tenfold. Plus, it has a view image icon thing on all the images it's blocking, so if there's something actually worthwhile to see (like something in the op or whatever) you can just click to view it.

Perhaps I should update the OP to state that i already switched to safari for the time being and that I'm not angrily stating that gifs should be never used because that what it seems like people are thinking I was saying based on some of the responses.

For the last couple days my and many other users experience have been hindered by the spamming of gifs. Thought we all agreed that webms are the GOAT. Although this is a problem specific to chrome all I'm asking is to please be a bit more considerate and conservative with the gif usage. ._.
EDIT:For the time being I am using safari. I am not asking for there to be absolutely no gif posting in any thread ever.

Just having a bit of fun. I agree with you. The age of gifs is over. Just like flash. It's much smoother and efficient for resources to have html5 stuff.

i mean i'm all for a funny reaction gifs but a lot of them... aren't funny. or it's been used 1000x
