Can you name all 197 countries?

I don't know anything about Africa or the Middle East so I'm not even going to play. Up until a few months ago I didn't even know Africa had different countries within it.

I am confident I could do all of NA, SA, Europe, and most of SE Asia. Does Australia have different countries in it? I know it's a continent, but is it also a singular country?

Dude wtf.

My biggest issue is spelling

Fucking Liechtenstein

187. The Pacific islands and the Central American states slew me. Fucking Tuvalu.

Got 83 off the top of my head. A lot more countries that I know that I just couldn't think of on the spot (Macedonia durr!!!) or I couldn't spell correctly.

Africa and the Pacific are by far my weakest areas - I know nothing about these countries lol.

I got 119, but really only because I played this quiz a few years back a number of times. Hard to get all of them when you only remember names because you temporarily memorized them long ago and don't really know much else about them. Africa was by far my worst as I blanked on so many there, but I missed some obvious European / South American ones too.

Just had my mind blown that Greenland isn't its own country. Had to look it up afterwards to figure out why it wouldn't take it. I knew it was tied to Denmark but I thought it was still independent, sort of a Canada and England sort of thing.

Got 106. Definitely missed some super obvious ones.

Top five I missed:
Afghanistan, Saudia Arabia, Morocco (this one was driving me nuts, I thought of Monaco and was like "Aha, that's it!" and moved on), Thailand, Nigeria

And my top five most uncommon:
The Gambia, Bhutan, Azerbaijan, San Marino, Montenegro

The high percentage in the results is ridiculous. This seems like one of those things where someone has a list of all the countries and is going through getting 100% on the quiz to make them look super smart on their profile. I simply can't believe 2/3 of people that take the quiz know of Andorra or Cyprus, for example. And the lowest country at 40% of people getting it is Nauru? Not a chance 4/10 people would remember Nauru.

111. More ashamed that I missed stupid obvious ones like Ireland and Portugal. And Bahrain for God's sake, I've been there so many times, if there's any country I shouldn't have missed besides the U.S. it was Bahrain.

^Oh yeah, Greenland threw me off too.

I think it's more that people play it multiple times, trying to get 100% eventually, or just keep playing it to keep it fresh in their heads.

The way it worked for me was: I know all of the European ones because I live in Europe and keep up with EU workings politically, so that made all of those easy. Middle East is easy enough because they're constantly in the news. I made a point of learning all of Africa partially for quizzes like this some time ago. North America is easy because there's like three countries and they're all big.

What I didn't do well on was Central America and the various Pacific island nations. I've heard of Belize, but it's just... so unmemorable that I didn't remember. I got Nauru because it is the only country alongside the United States and Israel to vote against Palestine in the last General Assembly amendment (lol), but Tuvalu? Pointless. Absolutely pointless.

EDIT: Also I'll do much better if your country existed between 1444 and 1821, or 1836 and 1936. For no particular reason. Obviously.

Or the people that are taking this quiz are already pretty good at geography and trying to get 100% I don't think it's a representative sample of the populace. I bet most people don't even now that there are 23 countries in North America.

Cant take the test now, But IÂ’m sure I could nail North and South America, Europe, Middle East and most of Asia/Southeast Asia, and Oceania.

Central Asia is where I would stumble, and Africa is where I would fall flat on my face.

Thought it helps that IÂ’m looking at maps pretty much every day for work, so I may have an unfair advantage.

56. Not proud of it, but I had a few countries in mind where I just didn't know their English name. I'd have about 70 otherwise, which is still pathetic but kind of better.

I thought I was better than this. Got most of America and Europe correct, along with Northern Africa, but Africa and Asia are huge weaknesses, along with some of South America

No. Also, I thought there were 212 countries.

I always use North America for Canada/United States/Mexico. The rest are either Central America or just not continental; I guess that's sort of inconsistent though given in my head Britain is European.

I'm to embarrassed to even try that quiz!

But out of all of those countries there is only 22 that Britain hasn't invaded/went to war with.
Cool stat I thought.

Palestine is a country?
This is their explanation
On November 29th, 2012, the United Nations voted to change Palestine’s status within the organization to a ‘Non-Member Observer State’. Politics aside, this was a pretty big deal at Sporcle as suddenly and without much warning Palestine met our criteria for what we consider a country. It took some time for us to get all of our quizzes ready for the update, but starting on January 16th, 2013, Palestine will be considered a ‘Country of the World’ on Sporcle.

We realize that this decision wonÂ’t come without some controversy, but our guiding principle in regards to controversial topics on Sporcle has always been one of consistency It boils down to this: If non-UN member countries like Vatican City, Taiwan and Kosovo are considered countries on our site, then we wonÂ’t exclude Palestine if it enjoys a similar country status as the others.

I think if I had a good map (where adding names wouldn't obscure the boundary lines), I could get well over 160. I ran out of time and reached 135 when I tried it there. Probably never get it perfect without repeatedly playing it as I'd always forget and island or two though.

I got 65/197 which is better than the last time I did it. I should maybe look at the map I have in my room more.

Funny that you got Palestine and forgot Israel. I was a little surprised when the test accepted it as an answer.

Different quiz that is a little more forgiving of my awful spelling. Interestingly enough doesn't recognize Palestine as a State. Though truth be told I've gone out of my way to learn all the States.

No, of course not. But if you tell me the list I can spot out any fake ones. I got about halfway before majorly blanking. Sub-saharan Africa is my weakness. Plus, looking at this map is more harmful than useful.

would have got more but didn't realize there was a time limit. Never would have gotten 100%

Left off trying to figure out how to spell Burkina Faso

Managed to get to 80. I got most of Europe, Middle East and the bigger American countries. Africa and the Caribbean Islands were really tough :/
