Can you remember the first game you beat?

What was it and what year did you beat it in? How old were you at the time?

For me I think it was Yoshi's Island and it would have been in 1997, when I was 10 years old

Me and a friend used to go round his house each day after school for about 2 weeks and we beat it that way, taking it in turns to each do a level (so not even sure it counts as me beating it)

I'm going to guess that a lot of people can't remember, but considering we have posters here aged 15 to 55 it would be interesting to see the results

In before I feel old at some of the answers given

Probably a few during the same time clump, but what I remember is Wolfenstein 3D (92), Lemmings (91), I don't think I beat it but Zak Mcackren and the Alien Mindbenders.

Pokemon red? Yoshis island? Youngins. Get off my lawn!
(Just kidding, I played the games I listed a few years after they came out)

I started playing video games on the Atari 2600 and in the arcade where games didn't usually have endings.

I guess Superman or Adventure on the 2600.

I really think it was Metal Gear Solid.
I remember playing some stuff on NES and PC, but never to completion.
When I got my PSX, crash bandicoot was too hard and I needed the cheat codes for The Lost World. However I did beat MGS with my dads save that had the stealth camo and infinite bandana. So I was still cheating but it still counts to me.

Scar was an absolute pain to beat, when you throw that magnificent bastard into the fire though, oh it's sweet.

I can't remember the first game I beat by myself, but I remember beating Star Fox and Mega Man X with my friends. (can't recall which came first)

Leaving aside the educational computer games and Mavis Beacon, this was the first game that I actually managed to beat (though I played through it with my brother):
Still love it to this day. After that, I would go on to Pokemon Silver. My brothers and uncle were usually the ones to actually beat games, but the sparse that I did complete as a kid gave me quite the confidence boost.

Jackle was the 1st game I beat when I was 8 in 1994, on a Chinese famicom knock-off. Didn't know the name of that game till much later.

GoldenEye 007

I remember thinking the entire time, "So, is the KF7 Soviet supposed to be a pencil or what?" (I was six when I completed it!)

For reference:

The first that I remember was the GBA version of Mario 3 followed by the GBA version of Mario World. I'd say that I started on a high note

I can't remember the first game I beat, but the first game I remember beating was Super C.
It had to be early 90s before I got a Genesis (which I think happened in like '92 or '93)

Treasure Math Storm

Those god damn snowballs kept trying to steal all my coins, but I climbed to the top of the mountain and proclaimed that all can suck it.

Pokemon Snap, not including fighting game arcade modes. I guess I unlocked all of the characters in Smash 64 a couple months before that, but I didn't unlock all of the stages until after that so idk what counts as beat material there.

This was in 2001 when I was 7. Beforehand I had played lots of other games like the first two Pokemon gens (beat both of those that Summer after playing them both for like....an hour every couple of weeks or some shit since release and then got Crystal when it came out and beat that), Super Mario World (I don't think I ever beat that until I was like 8 in 2002 despite playing it since the mid 90s when I was a toddler), and Hey You, Pikachu! (actually can't remember when I beat this, I think it might have been like a month or two after I beat Pokemon Snap, or maybe it was before, or maybe it was actually several months afterwords, I can't remember). But yeah I distinctly remember playing a decent amount of games in 1999-2000 but not being able to beat a single one :\.

EDIT: This is ignoring all of the Humongous Entertainment games I played as a young child though. I beat a lot of those, dating back to before I can remember. I'm pretty sure I beat every single one though. I'm guessing the first one was either Putt-Putt Travels Through Time, Freddi Fish 2: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse, or Pajama Sam: No Need To Hide When It's Dark Outside. But man, I'm looking through the release of all of these and I remember playing and beating nearly every single one several times over.

Hmmmmm... Probably Math Blaster ages 9-12... I was probably like 6 or 7. :P We only had old educational PC games for a long time...

First console game? Well, I used an emulator, but I'm thinking Donkey Kong country. My cousin had it and I was obsessed trying to figure out which one it was... I think I was around 10

First game I actually beat on a console of my own was Super Mario Galaxy. That was in 2011 I think, so I'd be about 12...

Super Mario Brothers (NES)

Freakin Hammer brothers.
This was mine as well. Did you know about the Up+start or whatever it was to continue at the x-1 of whatever stage you were playing? I didn't. Finally learned about that a long time later. The struggle was real back in those days.

I beat Mario without dying when I was 7 (used warps) so I'm guessing Mario on the NES when I was six. So...1988?

Oh, wow, I just saw this. Did you finish any other 2600 games? I'm having a hard time remembering any that had an 'end'. They were mostly score chase games.

Well, I remember Adventure you had to get the glowing chalice back to the castle to win. I think Superman had an end also.

Oh yeah! Raiders of the Lost Ark! That had an ending too.

Edit - Later in the systems life you had the SwordQuest series too.

Super Mario Bros. or Probotector (EU version of Contra, and without the Konami code either, since I remember being gutted years later when I learnt it existed), it's all too long ago to remember which exactly.
