Canada is Dead: Economy Contracts by Most since 2009

Good thing there is a federal election this year, let's hope the majority of people (who make the effort to vote) stop supporting Harper!

Harper's entire economic plan revolved around the Alberta Tar Sands. A move that many Canadians opposed because of the environmental havoc it reaped on the area.

Even Hyrule looked better after seven years of Ganondorf.

Is this real!? Please tell me that's not a before/after pic.

One way to solve this would be to cut funding to Statistics Canada. If people don't report this news, then it's not true.

That picture is making me irrationally mad. Are those seriously the same place?

Target left because they ran shitty stores with shitty prices and shitty selection and no ability to make purchases online and were surprised they couldn't make a profit.

Plus they expanded waaaaaayy too fast. Opening that many stores with no infrastructure to keep all the stores supplied was just idiotic

Problem with the Canadian economy/market place is there's not enough diversification and risk.

Companies become successful then become complacent. They don't innovate and they rather get bought out or just follow the same models as their competitors. Some sectors are near oligopolies protected by the government. They just look to American companies for "new" ideas and business models.

Already doing that. They changed the census, the data reported by Stats Can is more infrequent and less accessible. Based on what I've heard from the social scientists I have worked with, Canada is at a distinct disadvantage in measuring and identifying potential social problems because our data is so damn poor.

If Harper gets voted in again, then I've lost all hope with this country. Fuck the Conservatives.

If he gets in again, i'm moving back to England. What!? Cameron is still in? well looks like i should move to the liberal haven and sanity of America, right? Or maybe suicide. Or Mars.

fuck i don't know, i've always wanted to live in Sweden

Wow even the sky got turned into a wasteland.

Will watch, thank you.

How come Conservatives are winning? For some reason I thought Canada was somewhat inclined towards progressive ideas (guess I was wrong).

Conservatives have 1 federal party.

Left leaning folks have 2 federal parties to choose from : Liberal and NDP.

What happens is all the conservatives vote for their single party, but the left leaning folks have their vote split between the Liberals and NDP.

Last election Harper won with like ~39% of the vote; ~61% was split between the Liberals and NDP.

Canada is predominately a left leaning country.

Wait, so it's not the same place? Hmmm.

Ah, I see. I was reading up on this in Wikipedia but this explains it better, thank you. That's too bad.
