Canadian 3DS eShop prepaid cards don't work in a US 3DS?

So apparently, Canadian eShop cards don't work in US 3DSs. I now have a $20 prepaid card I bought while on a trip in Vancouver that's just sitting there useless.

Anything I can do about this? Can I contact Nintendo and get them to sort this out? It sucks, by the way.

Change your region to Canada in the system settings, redeem the card, spend the money, switch back. It even retains the cash in each wallet for each region, so you don't have to worry about losing any $USD already n the wallet when you switch.

I didn't know there was a technical distinction between Canadian and US systems. Have you tried changing your region to Canada?

>>> I just attempted to change my region to US from Canada, and I had to re-accept an agreement when opening the eShop. I'm assuming this means it would open the US eShop, had I done so. I think you're safe.

I think this is a good place to drop a general PSA: CANADA != US. Most point cards (MS Points, PSN Dollars and 3DS Dollars don't work). The only exception is the Wii/DS points, and possibly the XBox Live cards.
