Canadian Olympic Men’s Curling team caught cheating. Then lied about it.

They need official video recording and replays if the judges can't see it with their eyes or paid off/taking bribes to throw the games.

Usually in most sports such things are detected at national/international level and dealt with before it gets to Olympics. Maybe its just so common for them to get away with cheating at lower levels they take it for granted?

Olympics are tracked amazingly cheap and no frills. Although I do admit all this drone footage is awesome. So they put money into some tech. You'd think with world records and gold medals handed out, they have top notching cam replays and tracking.

Just compare stat tracking and website updates between an NHL game and any of these Olympic matches. It's like night and day.

And where are you from?

Canada? More like Can'tada. Can't win through skill, only by cheating.

At this point, what with the cheating against the Swiss too it must be just a matter of time before they are completely disqualified. It's getting ridiculous.

Edit: Holy shit, what a cringe country. I'd be wildly embarrassed if I was a canuck right now.

Please, who gives a shit about curling or the winter/summer olympics anyway.

Canada is the greatest country on earth.

But please, go on about how we should be embarrassed because of some nobodies cheating in curling 😂🤣😂

Nah, it's the same as football - you have the VAR recordings but it's up to the referee whether he wants to take a look at it or not.

Canada's a fucking shithole and bringing great shame to North America with their obvious cheating. Should be turned into the 51st state.

Sounds like with world curling they specifically dont have video recordings, just happens that Swedish broadcasters setup cameras due to the controversy this time around.

As sad as it seems, this curling debacle is the best thing to happen to the sport for getting eyes on it. Aside from Canada, do any other countries give a shit that much about curling? There seems to be some good teams from US, Swiss, UK, China I think. Does anyone there care?

In Canada, it's hockey first of course as a national sport and world tournaments. Next is curling. Next are some drips and drabs for individual performances like some tennis players or speed skating or pro baseball or basketball players. That's kind of it for national sports celebration.

Hockey and curling are top promoted since there should be good chance they medal or fav to win a tourney.

Cute.

Tell me more about your countries great leadership and inability to take care of its own people. Don't forget the thugs running around and deporting American citizens.

You should be so proud.

Looks like she touched her next one too...prob would have gone into fetal position if they'd called that one lol

Delusions of grander.

They were nobodies then they cheated. Shamed the sport themselves and the maple leaf is withering.

I have never had a game of curling, but I assume those stones are pretty heavy. What is he achieving by his finger touching the stone?

I know the rules prohibit it, but will his fingering (!) of the stone have changed the stone's movement in a meaningful way?

I appreciate this probably isn't the right place to find a curling expert, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

What I know about Canada doesn't look like communism - at all. You can say that country is overwhelmed by immigrants and run by Woke politicians (and that would be true) but it doesn't mean it has anything to do with real life communism.
Soviet brand of communism is just leftism taken to its conclusion, and countries like Canada are on its way there (with extra sprinkling of civilizational suicide through mass immigration and LGBTQ nonsense).

Communism:

1. Political System: One-Party Rule and Authoritarianism
  • Vanguard Party Monopoly: A single Communist Party holds absolute power, often designated as the "vanguard" of the working class. Other parties are generally forbidden or required to follow the leadership of the Communist Party.
  • Democratic Centralism: The organizational principle where decisions are discussed freely but, once made, are binding on all party members, concentrating power at the top.
  • State Control over Dissent: Suppression of political opposition, censorship of media, and restrictions on civil liberties are common to prevent threats to party dominance.
  • "Unified Power" Structure: Unlike Western democracies, there is no separation of powers. The supreme legislative body, often controlled by the party, holds total authority.

2. Economic System: State Ownership and Central Planning

  • Abolition of Private Property: Major means of production—such as factories, mines, and large-scale agriculture—are owned by the state rather than individuals.
  • Command Economy: The government directs economic activity, setting production targets, prices, and wages rather than relying on market forces (supply and demand).
  • Collectivization: Agricultural production is usually centralized into state-run farms or cooperatives.
    Fiveable +2

3. Ideological and Social Features

  • Marxism-Leninism: The official ideology guiding state decisions, often with variations like Maoism or Juche.
  • State-Sponsored Organizations: The party maintains tight control over social life through integrated organizations for workers, women, and youth, which serve as "transmission belts" for party policy.
  • Focus on Equality and Welfare: The state acts as the sole provider of basic necessities, including housing, education, and healthcare, with a goal of eliminating class disparities.

You can only say something about equality and welfare being something that happens in Canada from that list. And even that equality isn't exactly equality (white CIS men are often discriminated).

And I don't think Gay/trans right were exactly existing in Soviet and satellite USSR countries... Same for China or Noth Korea now.

Why weren't they disqualified?

You just know these dudes are utter trash, when exposed and confronted they react harshly against the claims and reject reality. If they had any decorum they would forfeit.

Communism:
I said Canada is on its way there, not that they are already there. One of the reasons leftists are importing so many third worlders is precisely because those predominantly vote left, thus giving leftists permanent one party rule.

Oh please 🙄

While the rest of you argue about whose empire used to be bigger, Canada is over here quietly winning at healthcare, education, safety, natural beauty, and basic human decency.

Europe can keep its centuries old grudges and tiny apartments. We've got actual space, functioning multiculturalism, and cities where diversity isn't a political crisis.

Sorry USA if literacy, stability, and not panicking over immigration look like "flexing" we just call it Tuesday.

England peaked a century ago now it's just Brexit, high taxes, high prices, crooked teeth and bad weather.
Just a friendly jibe. Let's not get too political. We have the NHS. This covers dental care. On average, you'd find more people here with better dental hygiene than in the US. We're not in the 1800s any more lol.
Do you guys even participate in the olympics for that matter, lol.
We do indeed. Not that we're great, mind.
Matty smashed the skeleton the other night. That was nice.
We're normally pretty good at curling too, but I've found us piss poor this games. We've beat Canada twice in the past week though.

Brits are definitely better suited to the summer Olympic games.

My proposed solution is to have a "finger drone" hovering alongside them, buzzing in their ears at 90dB for every shot. And if it detects a finger infraction it zaps 'em.

The whining of cheaters.

Dude, as mentioned, no one cares about curling in Canada, it's a joke sport.

Also, these people's actions don't represent an entire nation.

I'm aware you're some Midwest American, so I'm sure this might be hard to understand with your countries poor literacy rates.

It's all a "jibe" until it starts to get uncomfortable.

So this amount of space mean you have it filled with millions of apartments and cheap rents?

Importing millions of people in short amount of time was never a good fucking idea...

Short term pain, long term gain.

Second biggest country on earth by landmass, roughly 40 million population.

If people thought it was going to stay this way forever, they've got another thing coming.

Also, this happened worldwide, not just Canada.

Not all countries import people in large numbers when current citizens barely can find and afford housing - this is current "brilliant" strategy of western Europe and Canada.

Canada is a queue for Indians to send their kids to the US. Plus they have another countries monarch on their money. That is cuck behavior.

It's a penalty, not a bannable offence. It's akin to a hockey player getting away with a hooking or goaltender interference.

Also the usual whinos going on about mass migration, communism, and wokism in a thread about curling is really tiring. Don't you guys think about anything else?
