Do you guys huddle around a computer monitor, or hooked up to a big screen TV?
Hey Crash Bandicoot, it doesn't take a genius to plug a HDMI cable into your TV from your PC. It's easy you should try it sometime.

Your "knoweledge" of pc's are outdated and belong to trash.
We even play on multiple screens, there are several ways to get games work on multiple monitors.
PC is the king of splitscreen gaming.

So it was only disabled, hilarious.

The ones in charge had too many issues with it and just decided to cut the feature out to hit the deadline.

The community must finish the work (by finding the right flags and setting them on).

Go go memory scanners.

I think its a lot more likely that it wasn't disabled, just that they never implemented it in the first place. Sectus can fix it because the code for co-op is still present in MT Framework, but they didn't try to implement it on their own.

Reading this thread and console ppl commenting with overwhelming ingnorance stuff like "pc + tv + 2 keyboards rofl lol" is kinda odd... I mean, I m sorry that you dont know a thing about pc gaming but just keep it to yourself...

...the saddest part is, the publishers/developers also dont seem to get that, splitscreen gaming is a thing on pc. It has been since need for speed 2 or sth... so sad. such a shitty move from capcom (certainly after reaping profits on some sales) and all other multiplatform games that have decided to leave local coop out of the pc version of their game.

I should have a release of my mod sometime tomorrow. There might be some minor issues though (still haven't found a fix for mouse/keyboard controls, so this might end up only usable by gamepad users).

I love how PC modders solved it in mere hours what they refuse to do

Seriously can Japanese companies start hiring more Western Coding talent already?

This isn't a lack of coding skill. It's similar situation as RE5 PC where they have features which are 99% functional (because the features were finished for consoles and PC version shares most of the code) and it would be trivial to do the last 1%. I'm betting the reasoning is that they're ignorant and they assume no one plays local multiplayer on PCs, so they decided to not bother with the feature at all.

That looks like a LAN party. Why play locally?

Because the game doesn't support online. Because it's a hassle to move PCs to a friend's house. Because it's convenient and there's enough room for people sit and play with one display. Because why not.

Pick your answer.

What?
First at all this is not a LAN party, this is just my setup with only one pc.
We play a few games like L4D2 so that everyone get's a screen (for 4p, tv is just splitted horizontally).
And your question "why play locally" confuses me.
Why not?
Local gaming is really fun.
I wish that games allow to play on multiple monitors on one pc like Evolve, that would be really great.
I currently try to get working Crashday to work so that I can play a "LAN" game on my setup with just one pc.
I successfully started two instances of the game and could join the host but it crashes when I try to start the game one the non focused game because I couldn't find a way to start the game in borderless fullscreen and don't loose focus like this program www.splitplaypc.codeplex.com
I'm a noob with this stuff but it would be incredible cool if it would work.
Flatout 2 would be my next game but first I would like to get tit working with Crashday.
Lan like splitscreen is awesome!

What I think you mean is co-op has been removed from the PC build but split-screen is a general MTF feature, ?

It depends if he can find the memory address which indicates which input device controls the partner( and set the right value).

A co-op feature is too much of an abstract concept and has to be implemented per game.

Toggling split-screen on and controlling both characters with a single device might be a good indicator that it's present in the PC build.

Nevermind, I thought that was a seperate computer on the left... And you had somehow rigged it up for local play to be split the two screens from the same computer to two different televisions. Apparently the game doesn't even support online anyways.

You're both right. This definitely wouldn't work if they didn't share game logic between all versions, but a lot of this stuff (like the splitscreen view) works the exact same way in every MT Framework game (or at least every RE game using MTF).

Agreed. I am most definitely not your typical PC Gamer. I built a Steam Machine last year knowing full well that I wasn't going to be using it as a desktop gaming rig. It is hooked up to my 50 inch HDTV where I enjoy Steam, emulation, and indie games.

I am utterly disappointed by the lack of AAA split screen games on PC. I had to mod both Left 4 Dead 2 and Unreal Tournament 3 just so my brother in law could play these together on the same screen with me. Valve and Epic included split screen options on their console ports yet omitted it on PC.

It boggles the mind why they would take out nice features such as this regardless of how many people use it. At least Valve gave us split screen in Portal 2. Maybe with Source 2 coming and their Steam Machine/Controller iniative they can lead the way for more developers to include split screen options in PC games. Here's hoping Left 4 Dead 3 natively supports a split screen option.

Yeah my prediction was right, last minute disabling.

Iirc MTF serializes all its classes, so there are string descriptors for both class and class members at runtime in memory.

That makes finding what to modify a tad easier . Nice job though :D

Lot of ignorant comments in this topic regarding PC gaming, per usual.

Still, using the "only a few will even use it" reason is never good reason for actively taking a feature out of a game. It may be good reasoning for not adding it in the first place since that implies it would take extra development time and costs for something that may not be worth the effort.

Do you guys huddle around a computer monitor, or hooked up to a big screen TV?

Fun fact, although I have my PC connected to a large TV, even my computer monitor is larger than the TV I first played console games on when I was a kid. We had no problem "huddling" around that back in the day.

Local co-op is one of the most powerful tools in gaming. It can make a mediocre game good, and it can make a good game great. It's something I wish more games would have, since it's a great way to play with friends and family.

Are you trying to tell me PC gaming isn't populated by hunchbacked gollums?

Some of the sentiments thrown around in this thread about "not being played anyway" and "huddled around a mointor" are shamefully ignorant.

My PC is connected to my TV, and I did the same thing for my brother. I think this kinda shit has been getting more and more common, especially with stuff like Steam big picture . I've had my PC connected to a TV for like 4 years now. That's why I appreciate local coop on PC, makes games like All-Stars Racing Transformed sooooo legit.

Did some more testing and this seems to be pretty stable. All the UI stuff works as intended, and the game will properly switch between single screen and split screen between cutscenes. There's a couple of issues right now:
- Keyboard/mouse controls will affect both players, so this is basically only usable with gamepads.
- You can't change 2P's control settings (control scheme, aiming speed and etc). I think it might inherit 1P's settings, but I haven't tested that.
- Raid mode is still singleplayer-only. I've done some basic experimentation, and I can get 2P to spawn in lobby (http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/27357416065265897/F97AD5F49C918A7F461201898DBB0DB657C83E44/) but he's stuck behind a door and neither player can interact with stuff. I'll work more on that later.

Coop works pretty well if you have a high resolution monitor. At 2560x1440 each player screen is a little over 1280x720.

I use my PC as a gaming console. The monitor is already 27 inches, so it could be used for split screen no problem, but I do have a long hdmi cable to hook into my television and a long USB cable to connect my controllers into.

It's not a hassle. PC is way more versatile than consoles.

"Hi all,

On behalf of Capcom, I'd like to express my deepest apologies for the trouble and confusion this may have caused.

The erroneous feature description was a careless oversight on our part due to the shared game description text used across a number of platforms. There's no other way to look at it; we clearly dropped the ball here and didn't handle the situation correctly.

Rest assured that our teams have been looking at a potential solution and/or options. Our plan is to make things right for the PC community, but we wanted to make sure a strong action plan is in place before sharing a more concise, official response through the Steam community.

I expect to have more info before we hit the weekend land. Please stay tuned."

If people wanna test local coop, here you go: http://www.tzarsectus.com/tools/modmanager.rar

I included the feature as part of Fluffy Manager (mod manager and trainer for various RE games). How to enable coop: change current game to Revelations 2 in the menu, launch Revelations 2, and then turn on local coop (have to activate trainer first), and then choose a chapter in the game or restart checkpoint, and that should do the trick.

There's a couple of known issues:
- Keyboard controls affect both players (I doubt I can fix this).
- Raid mode local coop doesn't work (hopefully I can get that working).
- If you turn coop on/off while you're switching between Claire/Moira in singleplayer mode, the game might get really confused. Toggling coop on and off works best while the game is paused.

The 15 people that were excited about playing this game via local co-op on there PC are probably heartbroken. My condolences.

My PC is plugged into my 46 inch living room plasma and is basically a Steam machine running Big Picture. It was a better value than a new 'next gen' console and more powerful as well. My wife, son and I play many games in multiplayer mode with two 360 pads on the couch together all the time...including the numerous LEGO games and stuff like Sonic Racing Transformed. My wife was also interested in playing this coop.

Go suck eggs and get better informed, PC gaming isn't like the old days anymore.

Man, gtfo with that nonsense.

If you cannot fathom hooking a computer up to a large television, then you are lost. Second, despite what the "15 people that were excited" think, having a version you're paying for get features cut because "reasons" is still pretty bad.

And check your damned spelling.

I am "informed", I have a PC... Heck I even had it hooked up to my TV before I moved to a bigger place and it went In a seperate office.

I still think the % of people with this setup is incredibly small and not worth the $ to develop into a game but if its already programmed into the game and was removed then I agree this is stupid.

If capcom had to pay any money to implement this then maybe they were smart to just let the community do it for them for free lol.

Having a PC and the way you use it are two different things though. Obviously everyone is different, but in this case Capcom are just being stupid.

It's OK, I was ignorant of the whole PC in the living room wave currently going on myself...and man, was I wrong. That is all I meant by being informed. :)

No. I'll probably experiment with network play in campaign once raid mode coop is available for the heck of it, but I'm pretty sure there's gonna be major desync issues with that.
Saw your split screen mod topic on Steam forum and I posted it on the REV 2 OT.

Hi guys, I'm here.

Many of you have noticed the patch update that went live earlier today which went out ahead of schedule. The fix was intended to address the odd skipping animation when the FPS option was set to 'variable.' Unfortunately it appears the fix has introduced a knock-on effect that impacts rendering performance for some users. Dev team will be review the patch and work on another another update, among other things.

And to revisit the local split-screen coop issue, rest assured the team is looking at providing potential solutions per the earlier announcement. We will provide details of the plan very soon once everything checks out.

Lastly, rest assured this won't be the last patch update -- we still have the promised online coop functionality that will be added in later.

More to come!

Please don't remove features of the pc version, It's great you're looking into this but this is not ok.
Even cheap pc's are more powerful than consoles and deserve at least the same amount of care as consoles.
It's insane that companies still compromise on the pc version.

That sounds like they'll consider adding local coop in a patch. I'd almost expect them to since it would be really easy for them to do so.

We need more guys like you, it's incredibly disgusting how bad companies still treat the pc version.
