I can't believe I know a girl who dated him when he was filming F4, and, according to her anyways, dumped him for a mattress salesman. :/

She probably found out about him and Bucky. :(

I dunno, does that really mean anything? He could die in Avengers 3 and appear in flashbacks or as a dead body in Avengers 4. It would still count. He could survive Avengers 4 and get his contract renewed too. Contracts don't really mean anything narratively!
That is what I mean, not that nobody will die, but the people that say it's a forgone conclusion that Cap must die because of contracts, that he is sitting out one of the films, and he is retiring after Infinity War, along with RDJ and Hemsworth.

People still talk about all this stuff like it's a fact based only on contract speculation.

Really great candid interview. His weariness over the cap role though conflicts slightly with his other recent comments about happily playing the role as long as marvel wants him. Maybe he just needs to work more but it sounds like the marvel shoots really take a lot out of him too.

tbf, they just hammered out two Avengers movies in a year

Downey/Evans/ScarJo gotta be tired as fuck

Are they really filming Avengers 3 and 4 at the same time? Is the script for Avengers 4 even being written yet? Last I heard they said the first script wasn't complete but they have an outline or something.

Doesn't conflict IMO.

What I got out of this is that the outside stuff is what stresses him out (the premieres, the business meetings, the appearances, etc.) not the acting. That also sounds like the reason he didn't want to sign the long contact initially.

I think it is? I'm probably wrong but I remember hearing that.

tbh the same kinda thing happened when they did Pirates back to back, that shit was a madhouse apparently with rewrites

And yeah Evans clearly fucking despises the publicity stuff, dude gets H A M M E R E D before all of them

Less than 24 hours and I AM IN THERE.

Quick, I need more Marvel cuties to tide me over until tomorrow.

Dudes are cool too, everyone deserves some eye candy!

Can't wait for a giant crab woman to fight Ant-Man and a 20 minute scene of Tony talking to imaginary clones of himself while in the Negative Zone.

The title of this thread reminded me that the Finding Dory trailer was played just before this one. Ultra MEH, it's the safest retread of the original that could be possibly made. They copied lots of scenes it seems.

Tangentially related, I loved how in this movie some money shots were used against the heroes. It felt great. They managed the stakes very well.

Downey seems content with just being Tony Stark but I'm pretty impressed with how much work ScarJo puts in between Marvel shoots.

They got until November. It sounds like the Russos and Marcus/McFeely have been working on all 3 of their films concurrently too.

Just finished watching Iron Man for the first time in forever and it's crazy to think that this scene actually signaled that they were going to make a movie universe instead of just being a one-off thing.

Plans did kinda change but yep, that was spark. Also funny around that time WB was pushing for Justice League.

Rewatching Age of Ultron, I feel like Whedon should have taken a slight step back from trying to balance everyone equally like he did with The Avengers. That was a team film with the central story about bringing together the team. AoU is still about all the members, but I think there is a pretty strong throughline around Tony/Ultron/Vision that also ties the Twins to Stark as if gives them reason to become antagonists, and later Cap is the one who brings them on board.

If just seems to me that it could have helped the narrative feel stronger if it centered a little more around Tony's story, because even the Hulk destruction directly involves him fighting Hulk. It would have set up Civil War even stronger, if they would have known that film was next, especially in the way that AoU could have/should have been a character turning point for Tony in the way The Winter Soldier was for Steve. It still was (and I assume we'll see some of that after the fact in Civil War) but I don't think people really came away from AoU thinking it was a Iron Man story, but with just a little more of the film focusing on that, could have made the AoU and Avengers story with Tony at the core in the same way Civil War is an Avengers story with Cap at the core.

Even to shift some of the 3rd act to deal with some of Tony's guilt about what he unleashed with Ultron. He seems to dismiss it at the end of the 1st act when Ultron first attacks them and tries to right his wrongs with Vision, but when there is that city in the sky and it seems like they are staring at the possibility of the whole being destroyed, it would be great to have Tony realize how bad he fucked up, or how out of control things got for even the Avengers trying to handle things on their own. He certainly deserved a one on one villain/hero scene with Ultron again at the end. Tony talks with him in the 3rd act, but it doesn't really carry the conflict. It could have used a final talk with Ultron to conclude that antagonistic father/son relationship. The ending exchange between Ultron and Vision was great, they needed some final Ultron/Stark exchange.

Speaking of which, they could also have added a personal conflict scene like that between the twins and Stark near the beginning (say before the mind control) to help establish a more direct and personal conflict there, rather than leaving that all for the scene with them and Ultron when they meet him and they explain their grudge with Stark.

Missed opportunity, I guess.

Kind of makes sense in retrospect why they decided to go the direction they did with IM2 since it was still before The Avengers, which made the most sense due to IM1's success.

That's why they made it so he was rejected for the Avengers and SHIELD was just keeping tabs on him in the mean time because the after credits scene for IM1 and TIH made it seem like the Avenger team was already being assembled.

"you wanna do the 7:15?"

"Nah, too early for me. Can we do the 7:16!?"

And that's just for 2D showings at one theater....wow.

It really is playing like an Avengers film.

Was in the spoiler thread without realizing but luckily I didn't get spoiled on anything. :)

Like 15 hours until I see it, I think. I've done a good job of avoiding spoilers so far and nearly there!

I wonder how soon, how fast and how hard this movie will steamroll and crush BvS at the BO. It's going to be vicious
