I will discount reviews that mention BvS in anyway. No need for that. Cheap criticism. Review film for what it is not give it points for what other's didn't do what you wanted.

Hmmm...keep the salts pouring. It's delicious.

Those Tumblr GIFs too. They are what nightmares made of.

The new section is incredible. I can't tell who's trolling who anymore.

What is it with this movie that drives people batshit insane?

me too, why do people hate CA1? Red Skull was a meh villain with zero chemistry with Cap, but whatever, the movie had lots of charm.
First half of Cap 1 is great. Red Skull face off and pretty much all the fights at the end are meh. Cap 2 is great overall.

Maybe you can apply context? Marvel has earned this because they've done, what, a dozen or so MCU movies so far? They've built up these characters. Whereas DC tried to do this in their second movie.

If I hear the word "earned" that's another no go review for me. Nobody earns anything. A good movie is a good movie regardless of past predecessors. Same goes if its bad. I don't care if that character traits was pre established in a earlier film. If he's written shit in this film here he's shit. If he's great then he's great.

Man that subreddit is the gift that keeps on giving. At the very least I think we can all take solace in the fact that Suicide Squad is most likely going to be amazing.

oh dear...

Any other context reviewers should avoid using in order to gain your favor?

All of Marvel (Blockbuster movies?) go to hell in the 3rd act. I hate that. That said, I found Ant-Man very decent in that regard.

Why don't you post every word that shouldn't show up in a review then. If you do that I'm sure the reviewers will totally do a Arnie7 CW review just for you.

Yeah let's ignore that these movies are parts of franchises and direct sequels to other movies, referencing the plot threads of those explicitly.

I don't even know why I'm engaging you but the salt it's generating is worth it I guess :D

So film kicks ass but Zemo blows?

I'm not shocked in this case since what is likely the majority of the film is Heroes/Heroes.

Avengers 1 and Ant-Man are both good in the 3rd act; albeit I though Ant-Man had a rather weak 1st and 2nd act due to the heist being rather boring to me, and Avengers being excellent throughout the entire movie.

Did you watch ant Man though? That movie turned out amazing. Smart move by Marvel.

Nah it was like a 6 or 7 at best. Wright would have delivered a 10 easy going by his track record. Plus falcon cameo sucked

And yeah marvel really screwed Favreau bad. That's a damn shame considering how much he did for the mcu

Seems like russos are balancing studios demands and their own output better than whedon tho which is nice. They will pump out a better avengers movie than the prior 2

Huh... So I guess the whole 'Marvel treat directors like shit' shtick isn't true?
Remember, there's a difference in pre-CW Marvel and post CW-Marvel. That difference is the Creative Comitee (which still had a bit of influence here) preceeded by Master Cheap winner Ike Perlmutter. NuMCU will deliver on all fronts.

... Nah, Avengers went to hell too. The character stuff was far more interesting. Zero tension was had.

Personally I disregard any review which uses the words, "Marvel," "Captain," "Feige," "Man," or "shared universe." I especially hate when reviewers compare two like things and find one executed better than the other.

'Finally, a big budget superhero sequel that manages to be both effortlessly entertaining and utterly sobering, instead of just one of those things-or, as we've endured too frequently in the past, neither of them. (Looking at you, Batman v Superman.)'- Jen Yamato

That one sentence perfectly culminates my thoughts on the difference between Marvel movies, and the Snyder DC films.

I'm super fucking pumped now.

The brand and imagined favoritism has little to do with it.

I think the brand has lots to do with it. You don't think Marvel characters are more loved around the world at this point?

Granted, they worked hard to build up their cinematic world and is well-dserved. They can make 2 or 3 movies the level of BvS and it wouldn't tarnish them the same way it would other companies.

I liked Ant-Man a lot and I really liked that they credited Edgar Wright for the film.

However the villain was terrible for me; bottom tier Marvel villain in my opinion. It's conjecture to say this - but can't help but feel Edgar Wright's vision could have elevated the movie top tier Marvel.

Edit - As someone mentioned the Falcon cameo was wank. Felt like something shoehorned into the film; not the worst offender but it wasn't great.

Sounds like this film's Red Skull or Francis...or any of the Iron Man villains. It's almost like the villains don't matter in these films.

Countless directors have discredited that rumor. The only time the directors and Marvel really clash is when a director wants to do something that conflicts with Marvel's plans (and, really, billion-dollar films are at stake here based on that plan), or they get requests to put in scenes that build towards future movies, no matter how hamfisted, but even Whedon says he just needed a break after being worn down by pressure and expectations and Jon Favreau is still on very good terms with Disney and Marvel.

There's creative differences, sure, but I've never heard from any director outright saying Marvel treated them badly. Could be mistaken.

To be fair not everyone thinks he's not a good villain, just many think he's kinda underused.

But the prevailing sentiment doesn't seem to be he's bad

It did keep some of Wright's signature quirks in the movie though and those were my highlights.

The fight on the toy traintrack, Luis's long drawn out story about how he got the info and Ant-Man hitting Yellowjacket in the bugzapper (this one got a big chuckle out of me) have that Edgar Seal of Crazy.

For real though, we don't need to be dragging reddit bullshit back to the thread like an eager cat with a disemboweled mouse in its mouth.

Those aren't even reviews.

I've read good stuff about Zemo but it sounds like he's not a showy character at all so maybe he just doesn't make a big enough impression for some people?

People think that praising Marvel movies while criticizing DC movies is a fanboy/preference thing, when in actuality it is that one succeeds in what it is trying to accomplish while the other fails. The brand and imagined favoritism has little to do with it.

These are the same people who came up with the idiotic "not muh Superman" meme to disparage any criticism of MoS that unfavorably compared it to other takes on the character, something that literally every adaptation of an existing work or IP gets its share of. Best to ignore them.

Alan Taylor claimed he was given complete control while filming but the post production turned it into something else. He wasn't positive about it.

Thread is kind of dead though.

Just a lot of 'I'm glad it's good.'
And RT has been stuck on 14 reviews.

I don't mind some shitty Reddit posts to keep things entertaining. I get why people don't like it though.

Can we compromise by just posting Timblr gifs?

Pretty sure I read an interview with the director stating the Falcon scene was their idea and the studio loved it.
