I'm dying at everyone talking about Sharon kicking the shit out of Bucky and not only are Stark and Widow there to help her, he just chucks away ALL OF THEM

BUCKY DON'T PLAY

Out of all the main Marvel Studios, MCU movies, I can't actually say they have made a bad movie. I've enjoyed all of them, sure a few of the earlier ones aren't quite as good as the more recent ones, but even the worst of them (Iron-Man 2 for me) is still a decent enough movie. I've seen much much worse over the years.

It was a damn shame.

Thor 2 should have been an adaptation of Gorr the God Butcher. They could have easily used the Aether as a stand in for the Annihiblade and still done the whole convergence thing.

Yeah would need to be scaled down some but Thor jumping from realm to realm hunting down Gorr coulda been awesome.

What was the fucking point in using Malekith anyways, was nothing like the comics version.

The dream thor movie would be a recast and adaptation of God butcher by George Miller

Just throw you into Valhalla fuckery right away. And for the love of God actually try to address his God status in the mcu. It's hard to buy that character when nobody is particularly amazed that an ancient religion's God has touched ground.
As awesome as God Butcher was, I want Surtur more than any other Thor story.

This is one of those rare moments when the stars align and you and I agree on something (though I think Hemsworth is fine in the role, just given little to work with)

Rewatched this MCU Supercut trailer again.

If I'm getting this emotional about a fan made Civil War trailer I'm probably going to feel so vexed when the stakes come speeding down like a hammer in the actual movie. Even when I think I know whose "side" I'm on, it becomes really hard to commit to either.

Marvel should pay the creator(s) of this video, and then use it as a hype trailer for the movie

Was it ever addressed why these Norse gods are all of a sudden concurrent with the modern timeline? If time flows differently between Asgard and Earth then it's plausible if a bit ridiculous, but I don't remember that being a plot point in either movie.

Why would they be from a different timeline? The movies infer they are essentially aliens who are far more technically advanced than humans on Earth. They visited Earth at some point in the past and saved people from the frost giants, which is why they became deified as gods as part of Norse mythology. All the current stuff in the Thor movies just takes place in present time though. They are just in some different place way across the galaxy.

No one talks about Cap 1 except for Expendable.

Talked about this in movie gaf thread but tbh i don't think Joe Johnston has ever made a good film in his life

I haven't seen honey I shrunk the kids since I was young though but everything else (including rocketeer) is just mediocre wasted potential

No, because they're not gods. They're hyper advanced aliens with long lifespans

Never could quite figure out what "realms" really are in the MCU. Are they just planets that are somehow linked?
Or dimensions or separate planes of existence?

Man, if we ever get God Butcher / Godbomb as a two part film, I will be amazed.

This scene alone on film would be so hype.

For some reason, Marvel really insist that Thor movies had to be comedic. No idea why. Thor 1 had a lot of fish out of water comedy with Thor making a fool of himself on earth. And Thor 2 double down on comedy too with Loki and Thor banter, and more Kat Dennings, now with her own sidekick and romantic subplot.

Even Thor 3, I've read has been pitched as Thor and Hulk buddy comedy adventure in space.

I mean, I enjoy Thor movies, they're guilty pleasures of mine since I do had laughs and good time watching the movie. But reading issue 1 of that Thor Godbutcher story arc, it has a very different tone. No idea where this comedic Thor vibe comes from.

Let's hope Warcraft will do well. Maybe then Marvel will be confident enough to do full fantasy epic Thor.

LOTR and Hobbit did really well too. Nothing will change their minds on thors direction. it's almost over anyways. Just one more left and they can move on to other things. Like Doctor Inception

I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of women really like Hemsworth and go to see Thor simply for him. The comedy angle is most likely there to appeal to the women viewers. Personally I'd love a "Winter Soldier" style Thor movie, a more serious and dramatic story with light comedy interspersed when appropriate.

I'm going to spoiler-tag this, but on Jimmy Kimmel Live, they had the "Team Iron Man" night last night and with them was
Emily VanCamp, aka Sharon Carter. I thought she was 100% Team Cap. If early on she and Cap are in a relationship (they were quite flirty in WS), that could be an interesting clash. Also, if its like the comics, she's Peggy's niece (or maybe in this case, great-niece. Note: I didn't watch it, but saw she was with them.)

Back in '97, saw Honey I Shrunk Audience in 4D at Disney World where mice ran across the audience. That was intense. Of course he had nothing to do with that.

lol really?

yep, its those damn wimmens that can't be pleased unless something is a goofy dramedy amirite?

...

Or maybe it's because Marvel and Disney decided making a super-serious movie about guys in shiny armor and goofy hats would be totally ridiculous (and end up like a recent DC film).

What's with Mad Max gif? That movie is great but I thought it underperformed in box office, and I never hear about Fury Road having huge female fanbase.

Yeah the intro to the first Thor does a pretty good job of laying this stuff out actually.

Thor's introduced as young and brash but he would've needed to be an adult for several hundred years already if he's a part of Norse mythology. It's not implausible since obviously Asgardians don't age like humans do, but it's just a strange thing that I don't remember them addressing. That video even shows that Thor was a kid when Odin was battling the frost giants in the viking era.

So many dudes around here talk about how they only watch movies/tv shows because an attractive woman is in it that I guess they assume that everyone bases their viewing decision on such dumb criteria.
