For those who have seen it: how shaky is the shaky cam in the fight scenes? Some of you have said it's only really prevalent in the first half of the film and then it appears less in the second. How does it compare to the Winter Soldier fight scenes? Better, worse, the same? I felt like the ones in WS had a lot of quick cuts (the highway scene at least) but the action was still clear and it wasn't shaky enough to be distracting.

To my eyes, it was coherent on the same level as Winter Soldier, and maybe even a bit better even in the later setpieces where a lot is going on. I'd like to read more thoughts on this from fellow screening GAFers.

There was one Black Widow sequence right in the beginning of the film that had way too much shaky cam but other than that I felt the action was pretty coherent and easy to follow. So on the same level as Winter Soldier.
 
Yeah I had no idea what was going on all the time
I barfed on some girl in front of me from sheer motion sickness, it's basically the Mirror's Edge of movies

It's perfectly fine. Lots of quick cuts but very coherent. You miss absolutely nothing .
 
That's great, thanks for the answers. I think that was my biggest concern, that they might go a little too far with the shakiness and lose some clarity so I'm glad to hear otherwise. I'm excited to see how the other characters' fighting styles are translated into the Russo's directing style.
 
Will agree with the previous page...a fuckton of spoilers are popping up in this thread, which is really too bad. People think they're being sly or vague or non-specific, but there's rarely any question on what's being discussed.

We have a spoiler thread for a reason. All the people asking specific questions need to either go in there, or start a new thread, because most of the time it looks like this:

Forreal, will y'all stop talking bout spoilers in here. You have a whole other thread for it, I would like to chill and check up on the latest info/impression without having to dodge and skip posts because some of y'all have no restraint.

a question for those who watched the movie. The Mtv clip that was posted online a few days ago seemed tampered with. How was the actual scene when played in theater?
 
How many post-credit scenes are there (in screenings thus far)?

Man, I'm getting pretty excited for this movie, especially Black Panther. From what we've seen thus far in media, it's honestly one of the greatest costumes I've ever seen period, superhero or otherwise. And the fact that there is so much high praise for the gravity and presence he brings to scenes.. hnnnghh

From all reports, there's the one mid-credits scene right. The way I interpret how the final lines of the credits didn't fully scroll up and just cut straight to the Marvel plate, I feel like they did omit the end-of-credits stinger and it'll be in the general release.

In terms of the general speed of moves, they didn't change it from the clip that was released, but there's more to the scene that evens it out so it's not totally hectic.

Just one, but I think I read that's a thing that happens for screeners and there might be a second? Fuck if I know..this was my first.

I'll repeat what I said in the spoilers thread..these commercials/scenes are deceptive. Edited plenty. I'll leave it there..
 
As has beeen speculated, the reason there is no more reviews is because there was an embargo on the positive reviews and a SECOND embargo for all the negative reviews to be lifted the day of release!

Disney paid all the critics to stay silent and made every fan who saw it sign a NDA. If they were good they could see the film , but if not, their family was in danger, up to and including Winter Soldier-like metal armed assassins and evil Adhesive-X purple sock-faced schemers.


Disney doing something unprecedented again. Bribes AND threats! They are on a roll right now.
 
My Winter Soldier screening had both post-credits attached, and it was a month out.

Unless it is something they REALLY don't want out there, it would've been there.
 
Guy in front of guys said they didn't check IDs, literally seconds later the rep came out and said they were checking IDs.

It's just as horribly cut and paced in the movie as in the clip. There's a couple more early actions pieces like the MTV one in the film that really bothered me.

that's a shame. there's great choreography on display but i think these dudes need to work on their editing. they're like jason bourne movies without the real force behind the blows (which makes all the difference, those fight scenes looked painful)

i liked the action clips though but yeah the quick cutting needs to chill. starting to get hyped for this movie now. i really want to like black panther in this movie.
 
They did check licenses in Detroit. They split those who didn't have one into a separate line and they got to enter after all of those who had IDs did.

At the NYC screening, IDs were to make sure people who got in and whoever was their +1 were accounted for. They didn't take our phones. They just said if they saw anybody using any device of any kind, they'd kick em out, no second chances.
