Captain America: Civil War Review Thread

If they found a way to make Doom suck I'd be sad. Would going from Thanos to Doom be a downgrade? I feel like his mastery of both science and magic makes him very formidable.
I haven't read much of Thanos, or many Marvel books at all, but Doom and Magneto came across as much more iconic villains in cross-promotional media like games, etc.

These 2 pretty much make UMvC3. I would love for Doom to get returned to Marvel and added to MCU but only if he's not a one-and-done villain and affects multiple movies as a friend/foe of the heroes like Loki.

"You think you can hurt me by threatening the love of my life, Osborn? *snaps Gwen's neck* Now I have nothing to lose!"
Cue my Facebook friend telling me how much mature and badass Spidey is to the rest of the the MCU. This is from a real conversation on my wall. Edited out my responses.

We just need a "MARTHA!" scene in there.

"You have to save... Ben..."
"WHY'D YOU SAY THAT NAME?!"

Don't forget making out with Mary Jane in the rubble of New York City.

The origin story would be changed for Peter not being able to control his powers as soon as he got them, uncle Ben would come close to him and he would super-punch him into the face exploding his head.
Aunt May would come into the room, screaming, Peter crying "I didn't mean to... we have to tell the cops!" Aunt May stops him:
"Peter, listen to me. You weren't in control. There is nothing you could have done. We will hide the body!"
"But I just killed uncle Ben!"
"Peter! The most important thing in the world is hiding who you are or else you will turn me and you into targets for the government"
"But... I could use my powers..."
"One day, Peter, you will use your spetacular powers and the world will have no choice, but to find you amazing. But now, Peter, it is not about doing right or wrong, it is about survival for fuck sake!"

In Frankmillerverse Punisher actually judges Spiderman all the time.
Or they both go on killing sprees together.

You have to keep moving the goal posts. If the heroes kill villains all the time and care little about colateral damage, what characterizes the punisher is that he actively doesn't give a fuck about colateral damage. Hell, he sets it up.

"Big mafia guy thinks he is safe by doing a picnic with his family on broad daylight, huh. Nothing will stop the punisher"

7 year old son of mafia boss puts his hand on the picnic basket

"Daddy? What is this?"
"Son! Put that on the ground! It's a nucl--"

Deadpool drops in, tells him to stuff it, because Ben Grimm is locked up with Fox and is never coming back, leaves and Spidey is all confused.

They always say the new Marvel movie is the best yet.

So how come Ultron sucked so much?
Because it's not related to the first sentence you wrote in anyway whatsoever...? Find me a review that says AOU is the best. I mean, they'll be a couple, but it was widely agreed not to be, even pre-release hype.

I always imagine these kinds of people who associate violence/killing and maturity/realism are the ones who cheer when a guy "stands his ground" against a "thug".
Living that power fantasy and all that.

Only team that matters..

This is true. Protects the promised land while America has their "scuffle".

Time Out 4/5
No, this is the kind of joy that comes with crafting characters people can relate to, with designing action scenes that spring and spin and bound off the screen, with picking just the right moment for a tension-breaking gag, a pause for reflection or a rousing speech. It's the joy of making a movie for and about people.

Attitude: 5/5
This may not technically be an Avengers film, but it’s still a better Avengers film than the last Avengers film. In fact, it may well challenge for the best Marvel film we’ve seen. Even the ‘Superhero movies are crap’ crowd might not be able to muster up those words this time round.

If I had to pick a side it would be #TeamIronman (I like Cap more though)

But between this and those Hollywood stooge actors picking Tony I'm dangerously close to going #TeamCap.

"You know unlike certain superheroes whose suits do all for them"

That would be a nice burn Cap, except for the part where Stark built the suit himself, as opposed to the serum you had no input on.
