I mean Ross is in the movie but thats literally it. No allusions to anything that happened in the incredible hulk
At least I know to adjust might expectations accordingly. I didn't expect much TIH references, besides hoping for some Ross anger about Hulk, but to hear that he is basically just there for a government figure cameo seems disappointing.

I just got my tickets for Friday, IMAX.

I never saw a superhero flick opening weekend, surely the people who paid for IMAX won't be obnoxious right?

It'll be a great experience. I got tickets for my local IMAX for Friday evening too. Watched the Avengers opening night and it was the most fun I've ever had in a thater.

Opening night is mostly fans that are there to enjoy the atmosphere of a big opening night. I actually enjoyed the Avengers even more by how much the crowd was into it. I expect Civil War to be even better.

ACTUAL CIVIL WAR TALK WARNING

Ross talks about
Banner and Thor in a scene cause nobody knows where they are. Literally one line

Other than that, yeah pretty much just government figure role.

You know, this movie was made in 2008.

In 4 years, technology and CG artistry advanced so far that you could reasonably believe that the Hulk in 2012's Avengers actually looked like Mark Ruffalo.

What I'm saying is I want some way, any way, to get Blonsky back in the MCU so we can see an Abomination that actually looks like Tim Roth. Do a Thunderbolts thing! Make him the MCU's Red Hulk so you can get rid of the corny bone protrusions thing! Iunno!

I think the wait for Civil War's making me weird. Certainly not making the review writing process any easier.

I know there's some weird legal stuff with Hulk in regards to Hulk standalone movies, I wonder if that effects which Hulk characters can be used in what movies as well

We got Thunderbolt Ross again, Talbot's been in Agents of SHIELD (I know, I know >_>), and other reports for an upcoming film with Jolly Green himself in a big role. If Marvel could work out Spidey's return, I hope they could talk with whoever's involved to get a solo feature for Hulk.

People like Hulk now, more than ever, and we definitely have writers within Marvel's creative groups who can write good stuff. I don't think it's a lack of confidence in writing a good solo Hulk film, especially with the arguable Get-Out-of-Jail card that's having other MCU characters to bounce off. Heck, Hank Pym right there could be somebody who could talk to Banner about having great power within reach and fearing its misuse.

Anyone who has been to a 1st showing in the morning opening - is it usually packed?

Work 2nd shift so plan is to wake up early, have a small coffee ( dont want to take a piss break), and go watch it.

I think the earliest showing is around 8:50am, I just hope its not packed with annoying little kids and people who are obnoxious.

Being its a work/school day Im hoping its a good audience

So anyone have any experiences seeing a big movie 1st thing morning on its opening day?

Kat Dennings is gorgeous, but Darcy is one of the many things I can't stand about the Thor movies.

Hell, I can't stand anything about the Thor besides Loki now that I think about it.

The only legal issues around the Hulk movies are re: the distribution rights. Marvel still owns the characters and can use them freely

I like darcy

I feel like she helped with the fish out of water stuff with thor on earth

I do seem to like the first thor more than most though

I'm surprised Marvel hasn't introduced the Leader in other movies since they were setting him up to be the next villain in Incredible Hulk.

They nipped that one in the bud quick enough with one of the tie-in comics before Avengers 1 hit the big screen.... Is it just me or have tie-in comic books stopped being a thing around the Marvel films lately?

I wonder if there's an aversion to having The Leader be a villain, because I don't know much about him outside of a single trade paperback Avengers book, but he seems to want a world where gamma-affected beings are an elite class, and that doesn't seem far removed to me from a world with gamma-affected everything, and then makes me remember Hulk Dogs from Ang Lee's Hulk, and I liked that film for its time and its ambition but clearly almost everybody else didn't and doesn't and maybe they don't want to bring that imagery back. >_>

What happened to him in the comic?

they'll probably cheer and clap at stuff. brace yourself for when "Q U E E N S" hits the screen

It was much worse at my screening I went to... there one dude who just laughed at every little thing they did out loud while everyone else was dead quiet. I'm fairly certain he was high.

There were funny moments where everyone laughed, but dude was just cracking up at everything out loud.

in my screening there was a group of people that audibly gasped and said "oh no..." at every single dramatic moment

Somehow I never noticed that Kat Dennings had huge jugs. I liked Darcy perfectly fine even before that, so to see so many people who only liked the character for that reason is funny.

I liked both Thor and Thor 2
