That's what I meant by better shot, it just looks better and like an actual film compared to the TV look of the first one. Sorta like how Abrams' films look apart from I'd say Super 8 and definitely Star Wars. That's not to say these things look bad but you can definitely tell that these directors have a hardcore television background/orientation and the more work they do on feature length films the less they look like TV.
Hmm, not seeing it with Abrams. I don't think his Start Trek films looked TV- like at all. MI:3 is the only one I can even vaguely see a comparison for. And the sheer amount of lens flare is enough to take his work out of the realm of TV anyway (other than, ahem, Fringe).
