Captain America vs. Master Chief

Cap fought and beat an entire army of those things and worse singlehandedly for ten years straight.
Well you could just glass him then instead then:

That should be more than enough to kill him.

we already had this discussion. If you're going to call in reinforcements, standard MU tech blows the doors off of anything in the Halo universe. The Avengers are stacking up planet busting equipment to fight off incursions right now.

This discussion was MC vs. Rogers one on one.

Attack a world protected by Hyperion and Blue Marvel? Good luck with that.

you could remove every single superhuman off of marvel earth, and the tech advantage alone would render every single spartan there was into dust in less than an hour.

The gap is massive.

I read Infinity. Let me just laugh at this Cap "the strategy" american, because that's what it was. One big joke.

Playing peek a boo with a bunch of aliens.

So marvel can escalate everything that dramatically then? I only really read Iron man or Spiderman so I'm stumped really.

Manhattan AND Wakanda both fought off a surprise invasion by Thanos' forces from space with no prior warning.

The Avengers mobilized a shield to stop a planet busting celestial from landing on earth within minutes. They also developed and implemented a plan to neutralize a planet launched at earth like a missile within a manner of hours.

Marvel earth fights off planetary threats and better on a daily basis.

edit: Scans for everyone!

As an auxiliary to the main argument, could Cap armed only with his shield survive a glassing from a single Covenant ship? I'm curious as to whether or not his shield alone could somehow absorb it.

The shield would deflect any plasma fire that actually hit it away from Cap, but I'm assuming, based on the fact that there is meant to be a large enough volume of plasma fire to take out a planet, the surrounding air could get hot enough to roast Cap anyway. The shield would almost certainly survive. (I cannot emphasize enough how insane the shield is.)

I'm not too familiar with the process of "glassing", so I'm honestly not sure.. I feel like I remember a comic where Cap managed to shield himself from a rocket launch by holding the shield above his head, but I can't find it at the moment.

I'm curious as to Cap's vibranium shield maximum durability against.. Well Vibration. No shit haha.

Cap's shield is made out of a bunch of shit, actually, and is unbreakable by any conventional means (that is, anything that isn't molecular tampering or the infinite power of the Power Gem).

Master Chief survived a point-blank cleansing ("glassing") strike after he killed the Prophet of Regret in Halo 2. But he can also be killed outright by mooks in-game on harder difficulties and otherwise get his ass handed to him without even putting up a fight. That wouldn't happen to a comic book character.

(With that said, what is it with fan obsession regarding "What's Better, SciFi X or SciFi Y?" Can't we move on to something more nuanced?)

What would happen if the Silver Samurai's tachyon charged adamantium katana strike the shield?

Water does wonders to dampen glassing effects, though. A statistic back in Reach noted that, were the Covenant to use their entire military arsenal to glass Reach in its entirety, taking into account ocean sizes and depths it would actually take about 30 years to complete. The Covenant usually just obliterate population centers, military priorities, etc. until there's no realistic hope for recovery.

It's kinda funny if you think about it. Iron Man's armor was built in our modern time (unless by comic book fiction says otherwise), while Spartan armor is over 500 years ahead haha
At one point Stark's armor was based on Iron Lad's suit, which was from the future. It was his bleeding edge suit. Don't know how much of that has made it into the black and gold, though.

Well Cap's shield is currently an alloy comprised of Vibranium, Adamantium and Uru (the stuff Thor's hammer is made of) so I imagine it'd be fine.

haven't been reading the thread? With no weapons MC has no way to take down a shield equipped Steve Rogers.

Rogers is significantly faster, and has beaten the holy hell out of opponents more skilled and with higher strength levels than an armored MC, and the spartan armor will not stand up to that shield used offensively.

Here's a fun scan I haven't posted yet- occurred in a daredevil book.

Cap is hunting daredevil here, basically playing with him. He's moving so fast he's barely perceptible to daredevil's super senses, and though DD can't locate him, he can determine that cap's body is under no strain at all from moving this fast.

who cares, how is he going to punch through MCs shield + armor ? the sheer force required would crush his bones. he has bones right ?

That's the "jumping away from the explosion" trope. Same reason Arnie was able to avoid a nuke in Predator and John McClane that fireball in the elevator shaft in Die Hard.
