Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker [Wii U] announced Holiday 2014

Unless it's a bargain-price game (like NSLU, which was available at retail for $30), I'm sure there'll be quite a bit of content, especially since this is EAD Tokyo and they're never short on ideas or content.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if there were only 20 levels, even if they did have a 'hard mode'. I mean, they're probably a team of ~40 people making this game in around 1 year, but surely they have more ideas than 20.

They better not use this as leverage to push Smash Bros Wii U back into January.
Smash Bros WiiU is Holiday 2014. They want it out before Christmas to drive sales. This is doubly important with it being the vehicle for Amiibos. They'll want both the game and the toys out in time for Christmas.

Off topic, but why the hell can't I download NSLU w/o owning NSMBU?

It's an add on to NSMB. Nintendo just took the unusual step of making the add on a stand alone physical disc as well, but it's still just an add on and that's all the digital version is. Same reason you can't, say, play the Titanfall season pass maps without first owning Titanfall.

Some new (I think) screens from here:

I love the last screen. I wonder what the story behind it is..

..e.g. the Shy Guy army captured Toad and it was up to this particular Shy Guy to finish the job. He just couldn't do it, though.

Day 1, looks sooo legit, loved the toad lvls in 3d world, just hope theres tons of variety and with ead its not something im worried about.

I hope this game gets a debug/camera mode so we can replay our run and watch the stage through a variety of angles.

The game looks too good to have it be fixed the entire time.

Still deciding on if I get this game and does like the fact Toad has his own game now.

Looks fun but reminds me I still need to play through 3Dworld and mario bros u...

I don't remember being able to zoom in the camera very far in the Toad levels in SM3DW, so besides having the time to upgrade and refine assets, I'm also assuming they did some graphics improvements because you're actually seeing things up close. Like, I don't think anyone would have been able to notice if Toad's headlamp band had a nylon texture in SM3DW, but it's a nice detail here.

you couldn't zoom the camera in at all in 3dworld, and i think these screenshots are just for press.
In the e3 build you could zoom in but not this close, i would love this option to be in the final build but sadly i have my doubts.

Yeah, I'm assuming it actually wouldn't be functional or useful to be able to zoom in that close, since you'd lose sense of the level layout, but they also showed some different modes in the trailer (like a first-person perspective part from a mining cart), so maybe there'll be different sections or tasks where you can get a bit more up close.

I wish i had your optimism, i'm expecting nintendo to add multiplayer, after all this game is compatible with ammibo.
By august the camera will be even further away and you won't be able to zoom the camera in at all because just like 3dworld it will have multiple characters to choose from, toadette, toadsworth e.t.c compete against each others ammibo's within the time limit to get the most treasure
fingers crossed i'm wrong!

Maybe there will be some kind of co-op, but I don't see multiplayer happening, the maps are too small.

It looks like this game is quite similar to Echochrome or Monument Valley, with bigger production values. I'm interested to see how much content they will fill in it, and how it will make use of Amiibo.

I hope they'll go all out with contents: variety seems already there, with differente locations and gameplay mechanics (like the boss one) and so on...I hope there weill be hundreds of levels!

3D World kills two birds with one stone. It's a game you should play in and of itself, obviously, but also demos the concept of "Captain Toad levels" so you'll know if you're interested in the core gameplay.

Those screens are amazingly and ridiculously cute and charming. I guess I'll be going on media blackout for this game earlier than expected!

This game just looks soooo gooood

Love this train shot, wish they had a larger version.

Edit: Nevermind, found one on the press site

Beautiful game.

It's visually a refinement of Super Mario 3D World, and even has a fair amount of anti-aliasing (unless these are bullshots).
