Castle Crashers = 1800 points?! (Nope, not 1800)

What I find interesting is that at $22.50 for a downloadable piece of content will, I believe, limit the adoption. If they put this out on disk for $19.99, they would sell a megaton.
I don't know why they dont do both. I would rather have it on disk with a nice color booklet...just like Super Turbo HD Remix...and i would pay a premium for both.

How about purchasing it online for $24 and getting the disk mailed to you in smaller "Eco-friendly" packaging? I would in a heartbeat.

For the people wanting to support The Behemoth, the cheaper it is - the more copies it will sell. e.g., Wii vs. PS3. This also helps create a bigger install base for future DLC.

Sure the typical GAF user may throw down the cash to support Behemoth but the regular user won't even know the developer behind it and will say no thanks to such a high price. It being a low price would create new fans to come.

/end economics

Regardless, I think we can all agree this game will kick ass.

You guys do realize by you saying that your OK with the 1800 price point gives MS the go ahead to actually use that price. If they haven’t decided yet they are probably fishing through communities and forums and seeing what people think is a reasonable price.
If they put that much stock into what people on message boards say, I fear for the future of MS.

Sure you can. As someone pointed out ages ago, the price point revenue hit would be offset and probably surpassed by the increased profit made by a higher price.

Everyone wins.
I don't know which post you're referencing because I don't feel like searching through all these pages for it, but unless they included a detailed market analysis it's just blowing smoke. If increased per unit profit always made up for fewer sales, why wouldn't they just sell every game at that high of a price?

You know, I never considered that a beat em up RPG really IS like a spiritual sequel to River City Ransom, one of the greatest videogames I have ever played.

The footage in that vid looked really good.

Also I emailed Dan Paladino looong ago about Guardian Heroes possibly coming to XBLA since Treasure seems pretty taken with the 360. Said everyone there remembered and loved the game...but I guess CC will have to do for now.

Still dont see how he would completely bypass Guardian Heroes and say inspired by RCR. Not that it wasnt a good game, but Crashers has more in common with Guardian Heroes than anything else.

River City Ransom came out before GH, but RCR was more of an action/adventure RPG, whereas CC has staight levels.

And you guys clamoring for more than 1 spiritual successor to RCR should seriously check out Zombie Smasher X2 for the PC:

Wow... I didn't care much at all about Castle Crashers until I saw this video. Now I'm already imagining how much fun a night of this game with some friends and some beer would be. Day 1, yes please.

TMNT on the GBA could easily be considered a RCR spiritual successor. It has both bouncing coins and the item system from it.

If you look at a game like Puzzle Quest, it sold for 1200pts, and sold very, very well. If it were any higher, at 1600 or 1800 pts, I really don't think it would have sold as well as it did.

Damn, seeing that intro again after all those years brought tears to my eyes. Such an awesome game.

The Behemoth openly admitted in an interview (can't remember exactly where) that Guardian Heroes was a big inspiration to them when they came up with CC.

I dont have a problem paying 1200 points or even 2000 points for a LIVE Game as long as its a full featured videogame..hell , Braid for example is almost worthy to be sold on store shelve's imho..in a way..1200 points is a bargin.

MS is inching closer and closer to digital distribution and i think XBOX LIVE is a good way of promoting this ..even if its more of a test bed for it first (referring to higher priced games). Im all for it..braid feels like a retail game that i would pay money for at a store like bestbuy or ebgames.. like i did for Paper Mario,etc.. but downloadable only type game..whats the problem?

I think some people are letting their imagination's be closed minded rather then open minded to the possibiliites of Xbox Live service..it can and will be another door/option to buy your games..it already is and XBLA games are becoming more full and more complete and worthy of 1800 points imho

Yeah it was in a gametrailers interview a few posts back. If it doesnt have a catchy soundtrack, im throwing together a playlist with Guardian Heroes music plus some other stuff.:D
