Castlevania:DoS is a broken mess.

:lol I thought this was a glitch the first time it happened to me too. It's really good since you've been going along smoothly the whole game and all of a sudden you're hit with something you don't recognize.

The second time he hit me though I figured out what was going on.

Also, there is a soul you can equip in the game that will keep you from being turned to stone by the medusas. I'm much to lazy to try and remember which one it was tho. =p

You will love the Imp in Juliusmode (with Yoko) :]

And try to upgrade the weapons to the max. The last incarnations are worth it. Souls too.

And try to upgrade the weapons to the max. .

Upgrading Weapons to Max = Throw Away Soul of Boss Monster = Not be able to get every Soul of the game = Not Getting Chaos Ring = Missing the best item of the game

You can replay the game with (nearly) all your souls as often as you want.

I just got this game about a week ago and have been playing it off and on sense then. LTTP, I know...

first let me say I enjoy the metroidvania style games, that isnt my complaint at all. Backtracking doesnt bug me.. I really do like the soul collection bits of the game to gain power, the magic bar and all of that stuff. I think its kept the series fresh.

At this point I'm most of the way through the game (I checked a walkthrough to see how much further I have left to decide if Im going to try and finish the game or sell it).

There are a few problems I have with the game, but the main one is this:

There is an enemy that apears about halfway through the game ( I think its an imp, its one of those tiny flying demon varities) that has an attack (which I actually think is a bug) that causes your charachter to flip out and act as though you were just smashing the attack button. The only way out of this predicament that Ive found is to smash every button on the DS like mad until it "unlocks". The problem is there are normally about 5 of the damn things in the room as well as a shitload of medusa heads which turn you to stone for a period of time. So, but the time I get out of the grasp of the stupid thing Im right back in it.

I have to get through a room filled with these things to get back to the part of the castle I need to be in, but every time I go to the room it starts doing this, then I get pissed off and just turn the game off and come back a few hours later for the same result.

Am I going crazy or has someone else run into this shit? Its literally made me want to stop playing a game I was really enjoying to this point.

The glitch you are refering to is your sucking at games. Seriously dude, these enemies are fuck all. That, and the game is excellent. Definitely superior to Aria of Sorrow.

You can press left and right rapidly on the D-pad to get rid of them faster when they are holding you.
If you don't want to be caught by them, start by killing them in the room. And use any 2 handed sword of axe type of weapon because the hit all around your head.
As for the medusa heads that petrifies you, there a yellow soul you can equip that prevents petrification. (i don't have the name by heart)

Is the game fun to play through on hard? Pretty much ever review and impression I'd read of the game said DoS was a tough game, but I beat most of the bosses with ease. It's not like I'm a Castlevania ninja anyways, I just leveled up to the point where I could axe a boss to death. I got about a third of the way through Julius mode and put the game down, haven't played it since. I started hard mode, but you keep your weapons and items, which makes me think it'll be even easier :/

I'm not even sure if you're being sarcastic or not. If not, then :lol

The trick is that many bosses are ass hard without specific souls. If you have the right souls for the right bosses, the game becomes a freakin' cakewalk.

So should I bother with hard mode or not? I don't use a faq for souls or anything, I just want the bosses to go down with a fight.

I think it's worth it. Hard mode is considerably harder, and the game ends up being far more fun. I love the boss fights in Castlevania games, and when they're harder, they become that much more fun.

So....yes. Do it.

I noticed no difference when playing har mode, but I quit half way through. The fact that you start with lots of stuff made it easier. Julius mode, however, was truly difficult and lots of fun.

Jeez, I don't even remember getting hit by such a monster. I usually used the time watch in the tougher Medusa-filled rooms.

Dude, this was my first ever Castlevania and I was only stuck in that room for a few minutes. Certainly nothing to complain about - just kill them and your problem is solved.

Not really hard...BUT, im Julius mode, things become a pain in the ass, if you aren't leveled up enough.

Mainly the last three bosses.

Equip the soul that you get from the tombstones that prevent you from turning into stone and the room with the medusa heads is pretty easy.
