About the "bad sound" in Rondo:
True, but it's
faithful to the original. Even though the redbook CD audio is awesome (Stage 3's Bloody Tears = OMFG!) - remember that the sound effects are being handled by an 8-bit system. It's going to be fuzzy. It's going to be startling to hear fuzzy sound effects amongst the amazing, crystal-clear CD music. A few short pieces of music are clearly handled by the sound chip as well (like the boss victory music). Again, it's just like the original.
I didn't notice any slowdown or technical problems. Plays just like the original. Sounds like it. Purists like myself will be pleased.
Bad Voice Acting: It's there, but you can choose Japanese if you prefer. For both Rondo and SotN. Alucard's new voice is definitely a downgrade.
"Bland graphics on the PSP screen"
Parish must have been playing with the Full screen option. Indeed, it looks like crap. Blurry, bi-linear filtered crap. Play it in the Normal size. The graphics are much crisper and look great. I had no trouble discerning objects even with the small size.
One complaint: SotN shows some color dithering in certain areas (sky background gradients suffer the most). Upscaling the screen alleviates it somewhat, but the sprites suffer from the blurring, so Normal is still superior. It doesn't appear everywhere in the game, though. *This MIGHT be faithful to the Playstation original. I wouldn't remember because it's been long since I played it on an actual Playstation.
Unlocking SotN, Rondo and Maria is fairly easy if you know where to get them. Takes about an hour if you do it yourself. It's still a STUPID decision on Konami's part, because I probably never would've found them had it not been for these forums.
