Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 confirmed

Christ, I really hope it's nothing like the first one because the first one is legitimately the most depressing experience I've had this generation. What a derivative piece of shit.

oh this bastard is just bragging now.

I think I stopped playing the first one halfway through because of some bullshit titan boss, must have been an ice golem or something

I'm certainly looking forward to it. Although it was not without its flaws, which have been quite meticulously pointed out already, I quite enjoyed the first game. So hopefully we'll see a much improved sequel.

That's well before halfway.

As I'm sure others have said - the first three chapters of the original game really drag for some reason.

After that the game jumps to high gear and really delivers. I had to force myself to play it during the first three chapters but I'm so glad I did. I was well rewarded.

I look forward to seeing what comes of a sequel.

I must be the only person on earth that loved the Poison Bog...then again, I loved the entire game...so...

Hmm it may have been a different golem, I could be mistaken

The first one you fight in the game, maybe about 1 hr in...is a ice golem that comes out of the lake. The 2nd titan boss comes around 3 hours in roughly, and is massive, really really tall, and has a female-looking form.

Those are the only two titan bosses in the game and they come relatively early on.

A lot of potential for a great sequel. First game was good with some interesting design choices but it ran like dog shit.

I'll fire it up today and see where I got to

There's another one right at the very end.

Remove the QTE.
Fix the frame rate.
Get more interesting enemys.
Less story and no more picard.
Cut the game time in half(8-10 hours).
No stupid titan battles.

Could be an awesome game.
You are the second person I've seen this from. What is wrong with Patrick Stewart?

Lords of Shadow was one of my favourite action of games of the past few years, very excited to hear about this.

Some of the design decisions in that game were really ballsy.

you're forgetting the
flying
one toward the end of the game

Never got around to play the first one, because the demo didn't exactly sold me on it.
I thought the demo was god awful, as well. You can find the game super cheap nowadays. I think its worth playing if you even have a passing interest in third person action games.

I got a bit further and stopped playing that so called shit game when I got to the crappy horrible shit fest chess game. Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Damnation are the worst games I've played this gen.

It is the opposite of fun, actually. It's like an extended QTE with shitty platforming and questionable framerate all rolled into one.

There's only three of them in the game, so for a game with a chunk of bosses, it's okay to have three not-so-good bosses.

Be happy they didn't use Titans more. That's how I'm able to appreciate those fights: there could have been more of them. I know that's mean but they were a poor, poor attempt at emulating even an iota of the magic Shadow of the Colossus has.

I am so down for a Lords of Shadow sequel for the consoles.

I don't own a 3DS and don't see myself ever getting one, and gaiden-style 'plot setting up' portable entries in gaming franchises have a rather dubious history, so at best I'll wikipedia or youtube the relevant parts of that game.

What platforming? All you do is grapple onto the titan and press the control stick in the direction you want Gabriel to climb. It's extremely easy and there's really nothing to it. The only "complication" is pressing R2 to hold onto the thing as it shakes around periodically. There's nothing hard about it. Even if you don't like it, it takes up all of a few minutes. And again I don't like any kind of QTE's, but the ones in this game are extremely easy to deal with as the game gives you plenty of time to respond. It's not like in GOW how a random button will appear and you have to press it immediately or you fuck it up. It's not like that. The most you have to do is watch for certain parts of the titan to light up, you press a button and grapple to that point.

Anyway I said it was fun because I had fun mastering them and learning which directions you have to go in order to reach the runes faster. Doing the trials was fun and satisfying IMO.

son of a bitch. i am so hyped for this game. i pray to odin that the learn that more isnt better and fix that damn framerate.

Lords of Shadow is the best thing to happen to this series since SOTN. Iga defense force needs to realize change can be good. These games will steer the series in a better direction. I love the screens of Mirror of Faith so far. Can't wait.

Except AoS and DoS were superior to SotN.

Oh, that's right, Super Castlevania IV represents more of an evolution in your mind.

I hope so. I've been waiting for the last hour to see if Konami shows something in their pre-E3 video thing, thanks to a Spike link someone gave me saying it would start on Thursday at 1AM EDT. Since they obviously fucked up and meant Friday, I'm hoping the universe makes it up to me and the site gets updated in the next hour. Not holding my breath, though.

Also, please do't bring new music to it. I look forward to hearing the same 3 tracks over and over and over again. They just fit every imaginable drama - from a love scene to a werewolfs death. In fact I think the whole world would be better with only those three songs.

There was actually a shitload of music composed for the game, but I agree with your sentiment here that the developers milked some of the same songs over and over throughout the game. It is a shame and the only negative opinion about the score that I agree with.

The problem is that the original game had the extremely long journey through the forest and the cave early on. It went on and on and on and on. A lot of people quit before even getting near the vampire's castle and beyond.

Great game. Loved the original with the exception of the poor pacing in the beginning.

If only.

Actually I loved the original way more than I seriously expected, especially after the demo, but that definitely had a 20-30 FPS, rather than a nice stable 30.

If I remember correctly the range is 22-26 fps on the 360, and marginally higher range on PS3.

Neither I consider acceptable. I can handle dips down into the 20's from a relatively stable 30, but anything lower and me get pukey.

I loved Lords of Shadow, and this is coming from someone who was a pretty staunch Super Castlevania IV cheerleader.

Course I bought, played and enjoyed Judgement too, so who cares what I think ;)

Still looking forward to both the 3DS game and the sequel!

seriously. if it ran at 30 it would have been great. some areas were dire.

Patrick Stewart could read a phone book and it'd be brilliant.

apparently not because his delivery in this game well before the halfway point was fucking bullshit.

i think the guy is a fine actor and has a magnificent voice, but he was going through the motions here reading this absolutely shit dialog. i could hear the eyes rolling.

i dont blame him though honestly. the text was drivel. i never skip cutscenes in games the first time through on principal, but i was forced to do so during LoS.

FORCED.
