The LOS2 demo at E3 was actually on PC AND consoles. The first time I played it, I was at one of the lower stations, and I couldn't help but notice how terrible it looked..muddy textures, jaggies, low framerate..but while I was playing, I kept looking past my demo station to the person playing on the row above me, and it clearly looked vastly better on their demo station. Once I had finished, I walked up there and, sure enough, that row of demo stations had little tags on them that said "PC DEMO". They were using 360 controllers, though. But The PC version looked simply astounding. Completely fluid, smooth, no jaggies, and high res textures. The difference between that demo station and the XB360 one on the row below was night and day.
Interestingly, I asked one of the devs if there were any plans to release the game on PS4/Xbone, and they just said "Well, nothing's been announced yet..."
Which leads me to believe that they will be putting it out on next gen consoles. The game is supposed to release in December? I can't imaging them releasing it after the new consoles are already out, and not planning on a port. With as good as that PC demo looked, it'd be a shame if they didn't.
why is alucard shirtless.
why is dracula shirtless. They're trying to impress each other with their mighty pecs!

So this has been confirmed for December?
Graphically the game looked awful - ugly textures and framerate issues abound. From a gameplay perspective, it wasn't interesting at all. Think God of War III's weapon switching except less responsive.
Speaking of God of War - they aped it right down to the massive scripted set pieces and traversal elements of giant boss types although much more hand-hold-y in the process. Too often the game told you what to do and there wasn't a chance to figure things out for yourself. Not only that, but the climbing elements didn't always work and I found myself frustrated by the lack of movement when I pushed a specific button.
If you really didn't play the first one, you should go back and do that. It's really much, much, much better than God of War. The combat is extremely expansive, and responsive. It requires constant use of counters and strict rationing of magic resources.
And it had a few giant boss fights and QTEs, but most of the game is a lot different than that. It had a fair bit of exploration and backtracking, and this was when the camera was locked. Now it's a fully movable camera.
I have absolute unshakable faith in this game, just based on how amazing the first one was.
I think if MercurySteam wasn't quite so obsessed with making every character in the LoS games use a whip, a lot of the God of War comparisons would evaporate. It really is an entirely different beast - a lot of the human vs. human boss fights were really, really good.

The playable demo was massively disappointing.
I wonder if they fixed the arbitrary platforming issues since that plagued the first Lords of Shadow.
I'm looking forward to this game. Frame rate issues and weird design choices aside, I enjoyed the original Lords of Shadow. It had beautiful vistas with amazing draw distances for an action game and a great atmosphere all around. Also, the music was pretty damn good and moody. Hopefully the combat is a bit more faster in this game.
I seriously hope that Alucard is an unlockable character with his own story ala Vergil in DMC3: SE. Castlevania games typically well know for extra content after beating the game.
It's Castlevania. They've been doing whip combat longer than any other games, so they don't need to abandon that to not be God of War in my book.
And besides, the Combat Cross was just really well done. Not only amazing in combat, but the platforming elements were fantastic with it.

I tried getting closer to dracula by leaning my arm on his throne, but i was told it was fragile so i had to settle for this.
As for the demo, framerate was solid, had some jaggie issues, responsive controls.
only thing i may have disliked was playing the demo using the 360 pad
i apparently was playing the pc version
fantastic demo that ends with a nice cliffhanger. Am gonna pre-order the ps3 version for sure as soon as they announce a collectors edition.[/QUOTE]
Good stuff man, I think I'll definitely get the collector's edition hopefully with a mini statue of that or a chalice
That is great news! Thanks for clearing that up!The LOS2 demo at E3 was actually on PC AND consoles. I humbly disagree.
While there were definite technical issues with the demo (geez, that frame rate), I enjoyed the set pieces, the SOTN callback, and the relative ease of combat. The thing that stood out to me was that starting in Dracula's Castle at least gave me the impression that there was some sort of Castlevania to be had here from the get-go, as opposed to having to work for it in the first game.
I'm hoping that the tech issues get cleared up closer to launch, but for me, I went from being staunchly anti-LoS2 to kind of looking forward to it.
But that's me.![]()

Anyone know the name of the music that plays at the beginning of the E3 trailer?
It's the piano part before the giant orchestration piece. Ba Bum, Da Dum, Ba Bum Da Dum Ba Bum Da Dum, Ba Buuummmm.

Damn great composer. Does Alucard have children?
I'm relieved to hear that.I played the demo ages ago...
This would be perfect.Hey Konami. Here

Too bad about titan boss fights coming back though.
That does sound much better actually. It sounds like they're changing the Titan fights to be more a rip-off of GOW3 and less a rip-off of Shadow of the Colossus. Cox acknowledged in an interview that they felt too rigid and mechanical and so they're replacing it with Titans that you actually traverse and fight on. It's in some of the gameplay videos. I don't know if they'll pull it off, but it sounds improved to me already.
Like who ?!LoS had too many throw away characters.
The game needs to remind us where the finish line is, and what that means. Gabriel wants revenge on who? God? Now that's interesting. This Gabriel could be blasphemous.
Like who ?!
where did you get that from !!!, in the ending of CLOS.1Dracul want release from his immortality, there is no mention -yet- that he wants revenge against God or whatnot, he may want revenge against the Brotherhood of Light though after what he discovered in Mirror of Fate
Every Lord of Shadow was a boss at the end of a chapter. Those characters had more story and gameplay currency.
Yes they did, cause they were pillars to the story, still other bosses had history like Olrox and Brauner, Black Knight, Malphas, Gravedigger, ....etc etc etc
Can't see your point.
These characters are treated like end of stage boss battles. They lack history with me the player. Show don't tell. It's better when it's personal.

I agree, I wanted more from Mercury Steam & Lords of Shadow, but I understand they want to finish strong and leave a great legacy behind, so I will respect that.Looking forward to this. Judging from the demo, this still looks great in terms of presentation and art direction and very similar to the first game gameplay wise, which is fine by me. My main gripe with LOS 1 was the fixed camera and it is free now...
I'm sad that this is the last LOS game. Hope it closes Gabriel's story properly...
Not yet, only Winter release window so far.Does this game still not have a release date?
Dave Cox said that CLOS.1 DLCs were a mistake, I doubt Mercury Steam will do the same mistake again.Cant wait for a post ending DLC
