Casual games for work breaks?

Can anyone give me some suggestions for casual games I could play at work during break times?

Needs to be:
* something where sound isn't essential to be able to play the game
* something where I can break off at a moment's notice without losing too much progress
* not on Steam, as that's blocked at my workplace
* would be nice if it was something where some actual thought was involved, rather than just clicking to continue
* not FarmWarsCityEmpireCafeVilleTown. I do play a couple of Facebook games but they mostly seem to be a daily progression type thing rather than something I can just jump into anytime. There's always Bejeweled Blitz of course but that gets old after a while.
* something that'll work on a Windows 7 PC with Intel integrated graphics. I do have access to a Mac though (but that also has Intel graphics).

Any ideas, GAF?

ScummVM with a bundle of old Lucasarts/Sierra games?

Currently playing Leisure Suit Larry and Quest for Glory on my lunch breaks, and they're perfect for the time I have - I can make progress, they're relatively challenging and they can be saved and put aside at any point.

I had a bit of a shock when I went to look in the Games menu and they weren't there. Seems they're turned off by default in a Windows 7 Professional volume license install. I had to go to Programs and Features in Control Panel to turn them back on.

I've already played the Peggle games to death on my home PC (and I have them on Steam so I wouldn't be able to use them at work).

GalCiv2 is an interesting suggestion, the Ultimate Edition seems reasonably priced now, might have a look at that.

I don't have the money for an i-device of any sort, and I'm not really much of an Apple fan (I have a Mac on my desk at work as well as a PC, but only so I can learn how to use it in order to provide support for the various Macs elsewhere).

I play Civ4.

You don't need sound at all, and you can advance at your own pace, because it is turn based.

I know you said PC, but Picross DS is a great option.

Ah, Puzzle Quest 1 or 2. I used to play the first one on a low profile laptop.
