My local GameStop had a used copy of the physical version of this game for a little over $25 and I had enough reward points for "$25 off and preowned item". So I went ahead and picked it up. It even had all the physical goodies that came with the game new normally! I've been meaning to play Cave Story forever but just never got around to it. I should be able to play through it little by little on my lunch breaks at work. Sounds like it is a great time to do it with this update

You know what else they sneaked into this patch? A new soundtrack. There's now an option for "Ridiculon" in addition to the Famitracks which were the original compositon for this version. Ridiculon did the OST for Binding of Isaac Rebirth.
So this patch has Co-Op, new OST and allows you to skip cutscenes. Oh baby. I'm uploading a video at the moment that shows all of these things! I'll update you guys when it's done.

This is player 2's first time playing Cave Story, we had to start the recording over a few times because she kept jumping on the instant death spikes at the start haha.

I think it's fair enough. Unless your two skill levels are vastly different, co-op brings you at an advantage with double the firepower, but with the same threshold for death as single player.

Thanks for the video. Been dying for this patch.
I will finally buy the Switch version of Cave Story tonight. I think this is my 4th time buying the game, and I have no regrets.

You got someone to play co-op with or are you just doing a normal playthrough? There's lots of neat little refinements to the Switch version that you'll no doubt notice if this is your fourth time buying it!

Agreed. Surprised there haven't been more speedruns with dog stacking and cut scene skipping.
