CD Projekt faces a second class-action lawsuit over Cyberpunk 2077

hemo memo

You can't die before your death
CD Projekt has confirmed receipt of another class-action lawsuit from a law firm representing its own investors.

The Polish studio previously confirmed it was facing legal action from the New York-based Rosen Law Firm, which claims the company misled investors over Cyberpunk 2077 -- in particular, the state of the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Now a regulatory notice reveals a second lawsuit has been filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California.

How is it a scam? Don't you get a game for your money?

well many people got the game for free actually. because they refunded it after finishing it.

Other studios take note don't fool the customer.

the customer? they are suing because they say they lied to investors. you think investors give a fuck about the customers?

Good. This game is one of the biggest scams in video gaming history.
Nope. Stay butthurt though. MS and Sony convincing everyone pay to play online is the biggest. And Sony getting a bunch of dipshits to actually defend raising game prices. "Golly gee guys, games were $60 in the 90s. We're not paying enough!" Y'all should be filing lawsuits against Sony for no refund policy on digital games.

Cheering on lawsuits over a shitty port. 🤣 "Stop being lawyer shills!" Gamers are like jilted lovers it's so sad.

The investors care because consumers complained, which led to Sony removing the game from their digital storefront and Microsoft issuing a warning statement every time someone is about to purchase the game on their storefront. So yes, consumers have indirectly guided investors towards making these lawsuits.

The only thing other studios will take note of is the Apology letter, to see what they should include in theirs. Everything else will be ignored, and history will be repeated.

why would they? the feedback to every apology has been horrible. if anything studios should be taking notes of how not to act when they make a mistake.

oh but you are omitting the most important part of them all

the consumers complained. which led CDPR to offer refunds to everyone no questions asked. that led to sony removing the game from their store and microsoft issuing a warning statement. and that is what made investors sue. they just care about ROI not players complaining. or did you see anyone suing EA for Anthem?

Many??
I heard that they had sold like 13 million copies after the refunds had been removed. I’m sure there were console gamers that loved the game but I’m also sure there are tons who are pissed at what they got. I rarely use Metacritic user score for anything meaningful but just look at the console user score. It’s not just review bombing.

They deserve this but to be honest it still sucks. It was my GOTY and I very much want them to focus on making the game better than dealing with legal issues. This is investors moaning too. They’re the biggest trolls and will just use the backlash to buy cheap stocks and earn even more money they won’t use.

Every apology from game devs are pretty much the same damn thing. We at X company are passionate gamers and wanted to make the best possible gave we could. We love our fans. We underestimated the passion of our community. We should'nt of released it in this state. We are reevaluating our working practices to make sure this doesnt happen again. ....and repeat.

Hyperbolic.

Its just to include the tickers OTGLY AND OTGLF (which allows us to trade shares in us/uk etc) instead of just CDR.

Its nothing new.
"The content of the claim, including its subject and scope, is the same as the aforementioned class action."

Its basically making sure to include all share holders in the original claim. Worth noting that OTGLY became common stock way after the statements that the law suit is based on.

The bright side is that CDPR wont deliver an unfinished product when they release Witcher 4. Another fiasco like Cyberbug and they are done.

I'm happy now , hope they never do this again , waste all the money on the hype and they release a big TURD !!!
I will replay The Witcher 1/2/3 and forget about Cyberpunk ever existed ! I just hope Mass Effect Remaster / Remake w/e it is will be fine.

Eventually, it’ll be fixed and no one will care about all this. How many lawsuits did No Man’s Sky face? That game changed all sorts of rules regarding false advertising too, but the common consensus around the game today is, “it’s great now.”

For the record, I haven’t played more than 2 hours of the game because it’s just not worth it. I’m waiting the long haul for the fixes and DLC. I’m just not going to pretend like this is new in any way, or sets any sort of record for buggy and broken games.

To look at this and say, "Good" or "They deserved it" is pretty shitty IMO. 🤷‍♂️

Sure, they had people in higher seats that made promises or comments regarding things that weren't delivered. But those people don't make up the entire company that worked on it. It's just ALL over news outlets so of course lawyers are frothing at the gash to get involved in something like this. But I really don't see this going far as CDPR offered refunds through various outlets to those that feel they deserve one or want one.

The ONLY "good" thing out of this is that it hopefully gets other developers and publishers to ENSURE their products are READY for release through and through. At least to hopefully avoid situations like the ones revolving around CP:2077.

But who knows, we've seen situations like this or similar in the past and this still happened.

You can be ambitious without lying for 2 full years.
I don't really see the lies. People can also wait for the release and check how the game is, rather than pre-ordering and then complaining "they lied to me I am going to sue them".

I don't see how you can deliver a truly ambitious game with zero bug and all the possible content on day one.

There is a moment when you manage huge projects like these where you need to deliver something, to be able to move forward. That's what they did. For skeptical players, it was as easy as not pre-ordering or not buying. Those that were not aware of the poor performance were able to get unconditional refunds.
