Did they? Miranda is engineered to be "perfect", and as a result, her face is symmetrical. Natural human faces aren't. If someone feels Miranda has uncanny valley effect, i reckon it is quite intentional by BioWare.
always thought maybe it was because they were horrendously low poly or something, then saw the wireframe one day and went "wtf"
Zelda character designs have been almost intolerable to me since OoT. Granted on the N64 some of their hideous human models could be attributed to the limitations of the system, but then they went and apparently decided that the "style" of 3D Zeldas was to populate them with horribly proportioned, occasionally repulsive, alcoholic subhumans.
Twilight Princess tried to right the ship somewhat, but you still had someone sign off on these design, among others.
Then Skyward Sword backslid from what modicum of normalcy we got with TP.
I fucking hate Zelda NPCs from the past 15 years.
Morrowind imperial legion guards

then, as the years passed, it became clear that the problem resided with bethesda's modellers. Very good for buildings, but.... not quite as good for people.
This becomes more unnerving each time it comes up.
Finally we've accomplished true gender equality in games.Faptain Calcons package expansion as well as his insane ripped body actually pushing through his clothes. The hell!?

That literally looks like he had some facial surgery done in-game.This mod isn't perfect, but it mitigates most of the damage. Looking a little plastic is an improvement over what's in the actual game.
That's no speculation. The right pod is actually the real Lavos Core. The humanoid figure is just there to distract you, it is just a decoy.
I thought it was really clever.
The center bit does not have a face. It just has a single eye inside of the helmet-like head.
His index finger looks like a winky.
This isn't the worst shot of it, but Doc Brown's model in Back to the Future: The Game bugged me so much. The stylization in that game was hit or miss to begin with, but they went in the wrong direction for him for me.
Resident Evil Revelations:
Just across-the-board terrible.
You and me both, buddy. Zelda designs have been atrocious for ages.

Could be worse:Halo Wars 2 mentioned yet? I know they used the mocap actors' faces now, but the characters look nowhere close what they used to be and frankly much worse.

Fuck that's horrible. Makes me feel very uneasy. Is it just a home video or something??cant believe no one posted the definition of uncany valey:
Glad to a we another person is familiar with the elegance of moonwalking out of awkward situations. Stand by your guns...just not Overwatches. You aren't alone, I'm not that keen on the game either. I'm sure there are plenty more of us out there somewhere....DOZENS!!!-snip-... and moonwalk out of there.

That red haired dude looks like an evil version of Conan O'Brien.Resident Evil Revelations:
Just across-the-board terrible.
You can really tell that that model wasn't meant for anything other than one scene in Halo Reach, those poor animators...Could be worse:
The female character model in Digimon Cyber Sleuth. It looks like she is constantly arcing her back to jut out her breasts. Stand properly ffs
Ironically he and just about everyone from UC3 looked different from the previous two games and I don't see anyone bitching
And she still looks really off in Corruption. Though it's even worse there because she removes her helmet on multiple occasions. Even worse is they they did have an amazing rendition of her in Hunters.Samus' Metroid Prime 2 model will haunt me forever.
Since DetectiveGaf let me down, I found the game from my post...Vandal Hearts. Longtime PSOne Classic. Early games and art looked solid, but later on...nope. Just nope. I never played the games, but the character models look atrocious.
Early game:
Later game:

Couldn't you have spoiler tagged that? I only just finished the first game the other day :/
Damn dude, what crawled up your ass? Some people did avoid media for the game because of spoilers casually being dropped.Too bad for you. They've already shown everyone appearing in the game. This is in no way a spoiler. Guess what? Junpei is in it, too.
Ironically, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
His face gets more detailed, but he still looks like Sully.

Tsubasa in Tokyo Mirage Sessions looks fine a lot of the time. But depending on her stance or when the camera focuses on her side/is spinning around her I absolutely can't stop and look at her breasts. I can't put my finger on why, but they look really off, especially whenever she awakens a new power.
I can't find a good photo, but this should kind of do.

I'll never understand why they moved away from the amazing model they had for the first Prime game. Because that one is by far the best. Tanabe or Sakamoto wanting a more cartoonish style I presume?
And Knuckles in Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal, his cheeks look too puffed out:
This guy's forehead is big enough to put a second face on it.
Elle FanningFish-face Kristen Bell in Assassin's Creed 2:
For whatever reason it was a noticeable downgrade from her model in AC1:
