Characters who deserve/can carry their own video game?

I'd like to see some creative mind coming up with a game concept based on this character:

FuzzySMG2.png

Puzzle game, using pipes you go around the level and must activate levers and kill all the mario, luigi, Donkey kong to and reach the end of the level.
You get different version, Green can jump to a parralel cable, Red can slow down, and Yellow can go through some obstacles.

For the 3DS.

Disagree here. Balthier was Balthier because he was a supporting cast member. He was cool and detached, and that's not really something that has its strongest effect when it's on the protagonist.

Oh really? :P

"So this is a Riskbreaker... Most men complacently accept "knowledge" as "truth". They are sheep, ruled by fear. But you are different, a smooth flow of thought into action. Indeed... it is almost as if...as if you had no soul. How do you do it? Body and soul are one, yet yours are separate, like a child from the knight in his storybook. Where is your soul, Riskbreaker? Is this VKP training? Or did you see something that made you shut your soul away? Show me your soul..."

In a more perfect world...

FFX-0. Fixed party of Jecht/Auron/Braska. Maybe side characters could be thrown in too but I think a fixed party would work better. Use the FFX battle system preferably. Lots of side/optional content. FFX's Blitzball minigame.

I'd buy it day 1.

Ctrl+f Sully. Good job gaf.
I would love to see the story of Sully training Drake to be the person that we know him as. But a part of me really wants Naughty Dog to focus on something else with the new console. As someone else in the thread mentioned, it would have been nice for Golden Abyss to be the Sully story and then Bend could have had control of that while Naughty Dog does whatever they want.

The Hero's Spirit from Twilight Princess. Sort of cheating, but yeah, a game about that guy - a fully grown Link, grappling with regret and remorse.

Oh yeah, here is a novel idea, how about make a Legend of Zelda game starring Princess Zelda? She is a strong female and there is lots of potential in terms of unique puzzles and dungeons.

Wario's got the clout to carry a franchise as he's shown but what I really want is Super Wario Brothers.

NSMB2's object is to collect a million coins? How was that not Wario and Waluigi's game? They were robbed.

so fucking right it's unbelievable

I constantly bring this up in a conversation about NSMB.

I mentioned this in a thread a while ago: Kat & Ana from Warioware. One, Nintendo could do with their own Devil May Cry/God Of War-type franchise; two, these characters already are underused and wield swords, and three, the two-character dynamic could be utilised by Nintendo to lead into a USP.

Pascal from Tales of Graces F

This is like the only character who isn't that serious about what happens in the game. I mean, you start off hating her, but as the game goes on, her personality grows on you. It makes you wonder what the game would be like if the game was all about her and not Asbel and Sophie.

Every single suggestion in this thread is fantastic.

Within the realm of a snowball's chance of happening, I would love for:

Resident Evil 7: Barry vs Hunk edition - whoever wins, we win.

And I would give anything for Garrus to have a spinoff game where he rejoins C-sec and solves space crimes, bust space hookers and makes space love. And then he can meet Tali and she can say this.

Gilgamesh could handle a complete game of his own throughout the Final Fantasy multiverse - with a setting like that, the devs could mostly get away with picking and choosing their favorite mechanics from the series to use too.

FFXI's Shantotto could be fun, although it would probably have to be a puzzle game where she tries to get her nukes to match an ever moving swarm of helpless foes, she's written to be overpowered, so an actual game would feel like Michael Jackson in Michael Quest.

Something GTA-ish starring a young Geese Howard could be interesting too.

Do people seriously want a Waluigi game? I seriously hate him. He's the dumbest "character" in the Mario series. God.

With that said, a Ganondorf game would be amazing. Maybe an alternate history Zelda where he's the protagonist and he actually succeeds. We need more games from the villain's point of view.

A Star Wolf game would be fun, but I'd imagine we'd need a proper Starfox, first.

And high five to everyone who said Paper Luigi. I'm not a huge Luigi fan, but when playing TTYD, I was thinking how much I'd love to experience this story. Sounded so fun. :D

Waluigi. He's the wackiest character concept of the Mario clones, and it would take something very bizarre or interesting to carry him.

It only takes one game to make him a real character. See Luigi's Mansion/Luigi.

I will say that, completely unironically, Waluigi is my favorite Mario character, easily. He is my go to character for Mario spinoffs since Mario Tennis 64 (his debut), I have still never forgiven them for removing him from Mario Kart 7, and while I was not one who specifically mentioned that I think he could hold a game on his own, I would absolutely not object to one. I just wish they would actually use him in a non-spinoff.

tl;dr:

Get the team behind the Tingle games.

They did a great job with bringing out Tingle's potential while simultaneously separating him from the Zelda series proper, so I imagine they could do the same with Waluigi.

Or atleast put Waluigi in WarioWare as Wario's buddy, duh.

In the year 3000....

Nintendo releases a game where you play as Zelda. It will be called the Legend of Link. People who play this as a kid will think they are playing as Link 'til they are fatefully corrected by their friends years later.

Neither Zelda nor Link have particularly distinct-looking faces, not to mention Link tends toward the androgynous - if Zelda were to dress up as Link, who'd be able to tell the difference? Make that the secret concept of the next Zelda game, with "Link"'s identity revealed in the ending, and there you go.

Then again, that would probably mean a wole lot of fan art of Link in dresses or with a Sheik outfit, but it would be an interesting way to identify artists who can make androgeny work.

Then again, I'm terribly out of date on Zelda lore - would there be something stopping this, like only Link being able to wield the Master Sword or something?...

Was gonna say Vergil but already taken.

Sparda as a main character would be boss as fuck. The sky is the limit with tapping into this character and the lore surrounding him. I want to play as the original Legendary Dark Knight and vanquish hoardes of demons.

The only good thing about Final Fantasy XII was so good he definitely deserved his own game.

From what I remember about the development of FFXII, wasn't Balthier supposed to originally be the main character? I seem to remember reading that the game was supposed to start with you and Fran breaking into the Castle and they only added Vaan in fairly late in development to try to appeal to their younger fans.

Anyone have any idea if what I'm saying is true?

Basch would have been pretty badass too.

Originally Basch was going to be the main character, so it would basically be the opening of FFXII, only playing as Basch instead of Reks, and instead of cutting to Vaan's irrelevent story it would probably pick up immediately with Balthier and Fran finding him and letting them go or whatever.

Maybe not, basically Basch was the original main character.

I don't understand the switch though, he looks pretty damn young here.
