In my class that I teach for college healthcare courses, I asked my class if he should have to state this publicly due to his stature of being in the public eye. Mixture of yes and no answers. For the record, for the safety of his sexual partners, the outreach of doing this publicly will help.

He should only have to disclose he is hiv+ to his sexual partners or in other potential 'risk' situations (getting surgery, blood analysis, etc). Doesn't matter if he is a nobody or the most famous person in the world, it's nobody else's business.

Agreed. An illness is no-one else's business. It only needs to be revealed if it puts someone else at risk.

That is true, but he could also do alot of good to those with the affliction by coming out that he has it and help fight the stigma of it.
All choice of course and he has no responsibility.
But as you can see from looking previously through the thread, there is alot of bitterness by those with the condition towards the way they are treated by those that do not understand it and there are many who do not understand it.
