The store’s going to be offering the following between November 22-26:

* Over 60% off Wii hardware
* Over 60% off 360 hardware
* Sony TVs at half price

The discounts are going to take the form of “flash sales,” where limited stock will be offered for a cut price. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

For euro people that could mean a new 360 for about 100 euro :D.

No one is going to get anything at this rate... even posting the deal on here will be impossible, as it will be sold out before you click submit reply :/

My Black Ops+Castlevania bundle arrived today ("shipped" on Nov 6th). Castlevania was actually encased in plastic. But it wasn't the real deal, so game must've put it on in-store (got my wallet encased in such plastic once, for luls).

Is Blockerbuster shipping to mainland eu, i.e. Sweden?

The guys from Hot Deals are going to ruin this for the rest of us. :(

Not only that, but Amazon is using both Facebook and Twitter to promote it, and will probably post the deals on there as they go live.

Buying will just be one huge clusterfuck, and you have to get all the way though to confirm order at the checkout to confirm the deal... it could get removed from you basket at any time...

The Amazon.com thread on here last year show stuff can get messy

Disappointed at no mention of PS3 discounts; a 360 stationed at my parents' would be convenient for me, but a PS3 stationed there could get Mum into Little Big Planet.

Blockbuster posted my forza 3 LE out in good time but it was a week late due to the royal mail strikes last year, I would say go for it for that price, worst that can happen is you buy from retail and sell your £33 copy for a little more on ebay :P I'd trust blockbuster over zavvi release delivery personally.

Where are you based? I want to know if they deliver GT5 to The Netherlands in about a week tops.

Dance Central (Kinect) - £24.00 @ Tesco Direct (use code TDX-PLH7)
Kinect Sports (Kinect) - £24.00 @ Tesco Direct (use code TDX-PLH7)
Kinectimals (Kinect) - £24.00 @ Tesco Direct (use code TDX-PLH7)
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved (Kinect) - £24.00 @ Tesco Direct (use code TDX-PLH7)

You have to then pick up instore though, as P&P is £5

TDX-PLH7 is a £5 of £25 code BTW, so if you want more than one, buy separately. The code might be just one use though, cannot check that. I think you need a clubcard too, which is not ideal for all.

As long as you're signed into your account you can just hit the '1-click' button to skip the checkout bullshit, you can change the shipping speed from your account later on.

Never thought of that... I don't think I realized you could alter shipping later either. Thanks.

I was going to say this would be Amazon clearly getting rid of old hardware (so sure you'd get then at 60% off but don't expect them slim or with MotionPlus) but I notice they don't seem to be in stock from Amazon.co.uk...unless they "vanished" to ensure they had stock to spare.

I liked what they did in 2007 (I think it was then and I think it was more Christmas related then Black Friday) where they did a deal where you could pick one of three products to be reduced in price and the one that got the most votes got reduced by the price they said while the other two not so much. Then, you were entered into a raffle for the one you picked (IIRC ~400 winners) and if you won you could buy it at the special price. The PS3 won (I think this was when they were still £320 and the discount brought it down to £180...I thought the Wii would win by a landslide as it would have been something like £70...in the eye of the supply problems storm, though the £140 it went for in the end was still good for the people who won)

Little bit off topic...

Is anyone else pissed off about play.com's currency rate bullshit? If you live in UK, it's alright, but other EU countries have to pay a lot of extra. For example:
Fallout: New Vegas for 360 costs £37,69 at the moment. With the current currency rate (£1 = 1.147€) it should be about 43,24€. Well, after using Play.com's currency conversion the price is 52,99€. WTF? So they are using 1.406 rate. It has been over two years since the rate was that bad. And there is no option to pay in pounds for EU countries.

One claim is that they have higher price for other EU countries because it costs more to send items to EU. Well then they shouldn't say that they have free shipping either.

I have mailed their customer service about this a few times, but they have never answered back.

Well, now they finally answered, but with a bullshit explanation.

Thank you for your email.

We are very sorry for the delay in resolving your query however, the exchange rate adapted would be that on the date the prices are declared by the supplier. The difference may be a result of changes in value on the original currency (£ or €) of the item or any add on charges like Customs, Postage and Vat.

Once again, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused to you in this matter and thank you for your patience and valued custom.

Kind Regards,

Customer Care Team

Funny thing is that you can still order in GBP from the PlayUSA.com. Too bad that they only have movies overthere.

So I preordered ACB from shopto when those £3 codes were floating about and payed with paypal. Just checked my account and I have been given my £26 back in account credit and my order says 'waiting to be imported', so I guess I didn't get away with that one :lol Anyone else see something similar happen?

Has anyone ordered something lately from zavvi or thehut to mainland Europe?

Have they solved their warehouse woes?

My lenticular sleeve Vanquish is still being processed, almost a month now and I still cannot cancel it.

Yes, from both during the last week. Not that something has arrived yet, but at least it was dispatched immediately. My Vanquish is still being processed, of course...

I ordered three games about a month ago. Two games arrived in about 5-7 workdays. (i'm from the Netherlands). The third game took about a good month to reach my doorstep.

There is also currently one game being shipped to me, so I'll let you know if that order arrives on time.

Anything resembling for those of us not based in the UK?

It took Zavvi three weeks to get MAG to me recently, and I'm based in the UK.

Mine was shipped at 1/11 and its still not here. Good prices but abysmal shipping so ill stick with game or shopto in the future.

Ok, so after the recent and really unpleasant disappearance of my Birth by Sleep SE package, which I had ordered from Play.com, I'm currently tempted to purchase the same item from zavvi.

Now, in contemplating my decision I have three questions for you all:

1) Are the walkers codes still entirely compatible, as I assume them to be?
Zavvi has the Special Edition for 24 pounds, but if I can feasibly reduce the cost further, I'd certainly do so.

2) Given the problems some of you have had lately, with this store not shipping Vanquish and other games, what's the general consensus on it right now?
I've never had a problem with it, but the stories told in this thread appear quite frightening. I certainly don't wish to repeat the Play.com disaster.

EDIT: I'm in Italy, btw.

3) Those of you who ordered big boxes from zavvi: did you receive the package in adequate aesthetical condition? I'm always worried about bashed boxes and damage to the outer envelope, so this is an important detail.

Thanks for your patience and for any help you can provide on the matter.

Canceled order for GT5 on zavvi: Vanquish is lost and they refuse to refund me.

You UK based? They are permitted to refund if they do not fulfil their side of the obligation.

Got my copy of 3d Dot Game Heroes from Zavvi today. Didn't take very long at all.

So did I today, the wierd thing is that I ordered that when it was sold out, yet Resident Evil 5 had no such status, and they still haven't dispatched it, they did say "sometime this month", which will be fruitless if I get it after GT5 comes out.

I think Tesco are still doing the deal where if you buy with CoDBlOps, you get both for about £42. Useful if you're after CoD I guess.

Just multiplayer unlock stuff I believe:

I am just interested as this seem to be th best price for the game overall

I just want to give you guys what might be a little tip regarding Zavvi.
Yes, we all know that both The Hut and Zavvi are run by the same management.
And yet, these are the reason I'm not going with Zavvi anymore but all the way with The Hut (and The Walkers code are there for The Hut as well, if you didn't know that).
I'm in Italy:
This is all in the last three months, and before that The Hut had been messy as well.

  • Dead Rising 2 preordered from Zavvi: from dispatch to delivery: 24 days
  • Kill Bill Vol1 % Vol2 BRD from Zavvi: dispatch/delivery: 21 days
  • PES 2011 from Zavvi: dispatch/deilvery: 28 days
  • Sega Rally from Zavvi: dispatch/deilvery: 23 days
  • AC2 Ultimate edition whatever: dispatch/delivery: 24 days

    The HUT:
[this are all orders made since September the 20th]

  • COD: BLOPS preordered from The Hut: from dispatch to delivery: 4 days

  • Iron Man 2 BRD from The Hut: dispatch/delivery: 5 days

    for reference:

    Play.com:

  • Saving Private Ryan BRD from Play: dispatch/delivery: 13 days
  • Transformers (just a gift I swear!) from Play: first parcel lost after 28 days waiting, second parcel took 27 days on top of that, lol
  • Dirt 2 from Play: dispatch/delivery: 16 days
  • Bioshock 2: dispatch/delivery: 12 days

Amazon.co.UK with free super saver shipping:

  • Depeche Mode Tour of The Universe BRD + Sherlock Holmes BRD: 4 days
  • various CDs + U2 360 Tour BRD: 5 days

Doesn't spread the word too much around, we might start suffering from uber-late deliveries again :P But really, maybe it can be helpful for some Gaffers, so here it is.

Thanks sir!

Also dunno if anyone can confirm on Hotukdeals someone posted GT5 is £4.99 at HMV, if you trade F1 2010 (~£23ish at zavvi with code), therefore this makes the game £27-28. They saw this in the Metro newspaper.

Has the walkers codes finally stopped working or is it just thehut who stopped their side of the promotion? super SFIV is £11.93 right now and it would drop the price to £10.80 or so with the code, but it's not working.

I know that games in the UK tend to be cheaper than in the Eurozone, so I would like to start buying my games there. The problem is, I don't have a credit card, I only have a PayPal account. Which UK online store that accepts PayPal is considered to best the best when it comes to pricing and reliability?

Gameseek, Shopto and GameGears all have PayPal, check prices on them all.

Probably GameGears if the price is the same on each.

EDIT: Actually, I have no idea if any of them will ship to you.

Concerning Zavvi delivery times, my list of the five latest orders (to Switzerland):

- Princess & the Frog (Blu-ray) 7 days after dispatch
- Dumbo (Blu-ray) 8 days after dispatch
- Monsters Inc. (Blu-ray) 8 days after dispatch
- Snow White (Blu-ray) 9 days after dispatch

- Castlevania (PS3) 9 days after dispatch

Not bad at all, I'll stay with them for now, the ultimate test will be my GT5 pre-order.
