Cheapest final boss in a Beat 'em Up?

I'm focusing on the 2D Beat 'em Ups because I don't even know if 3D Beat 'em Ups are still Beat 'em Ups anymore. Could you call God of War and the ripoffs/inspirations Beat 'em Ups? Are stylish character action games Beat 'em Ups? I have no idea. But I do know that the 2D stuff can be solidly defined as a Beat 'em Up.

Made this thread because I was replaying Golden Axe and was reminded at how bullshit hard Death Adder is in that game. Now in the arcade version the final boss Death Adder is fine. He's more than beatable without credit spamming. But the Genesis version added an extra level (complete with an extremely difficult instant death jump on top of that) where you fight the real Death Adder. And he has two Skeleton minions who cannot die. And the Skeletons are probably the hardest enemy in the entire game because they have high health, do tons of damage, and they love to attack first when you get in or do a random jump attack. And on top of all of this Death Adder will take away one unit of health every time he hits you, if he hits there's an extremely good chance he'll do an OTG attack (usually with the dragon) that is guaranteed to hit you and will take away an additional 1-2 units of health. Plus he has a homing electricity attack that's difficult to dodge, and if he hits you with that he'll probably summon the dragon for more damage. And sometimes he randomly summons the dragon anyway. And I should mention again, you have to fight him and 2 minion Skeletons who cannot die and they absolutely love to cock-block you when you're attacking Death Adder.

Pretty much the only chance you have of winning is to make it to the final boss with at least 2 continues and 6 lives and hope for the best.

* I'm obviously talking about Beat 'em ups not fighting games. I think dudes from England and Europe refer to fighting games as Beat 'em ups but I'm clearly talking about Beat 'em Ups. Please read before you post ffs.

Not a final boss, but the flame spitter in Streets Of Rage is the worst for me. Pretty much invincible unless you catch him in a rare non fire moment. You can also throw stragglers into him but its pretty tough.

The twin Blaze clones are tough but at least you can get hits in...

Since Streets of Rage is one of the few beatemup franchises I like, I'll have to go with those fat guys who breathe fire. You can barely get hits in and if you body slam them, it takes health off you because of how heavy they are.

I remember Mr. Burns in the Simpsons Arcade Beat 'Em Up being the worst offender of the ones I've played.

Where do you think you're going?

OP, you may want to clarify what you mean by "Beat 'em Ups." What I understand that genre to be is stuff like Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, Final Fight, etc.

A lot of replies in this game are sourcing "Fighting Games" which to me is not the same as the traditional Beat 'Em Up.

Shredder in TMNT Turtles in Time for Arcade. His hit box is so huge he can hit you even when you are far away from him and not even on the same plane as him.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game where Shredder had that ridiculous one hit kill laser attack, tons of health and cloned himself at the final fight lol.

Not sure if it counts but the Kings Relic dungeon in Dungeon Fighter Online for me. Several knights with cheap gimmicks and final boss that actually was easier though.
Biggest problem was the ice knight who summons a little ice shard thing that follows you and moves extremely fast. Had to make use of invincibility frames to beat him.

How does that make him cheap?
He can hit you even if you dodge his attacks, as in his sword doesn't touch you but somehow it does due to the absurd hit box. You can even jump over his head and he can still hit you without his sword touching you at all as he swings downwards yet you are away from him.

Came to post Mr. Burns, not dissapointed that its been posted already. I refused to leave the bowling alley arcade untill i beat that game.....god damn Burns!! Just like the show, he will take all your money. Was worth beating that fucker though.

I'm not sure if it qualifies as a beat'em up game, but the the final boss of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was crap and a major letdown after the buildup.

Could you call God of War and the ripoffs/inspirations Beat 'em Ups?

i would, they are like an evolution of the genre. Still moving from room to room / screen to screen, beating up all bad guys and waiting for the "GO" arrow to appear, even if the arrow is now disguised as cutscene or something :D

Street Smart in the arcades was one of the hardest games ever. Needed one coin for every opponent

I struggled with him back in the day but later realised its actually not that bad when you get the strategy right. If you bait him to run at you diagonally its not too hard to dodge the flame and then hit him when he has his back to you before he goes off screen. Works best if you have him run from the bottom of the screen to the top if I remember correctly.

If you are only fighting one of them you can even get him stuck in an infinite by punching a couple of times stepping back and punching again. Just avoid knocking him down.

Streets of Rage is pretty fair with bosses. The only one I really hate is the robot at the end of 3.

That dude is actually really easy.

Get a knockdown on him. Then give yourself about a half or 3/4 screen distance away from him. As soon as he gets up he'll leap forward. Just do a jump-kick and you'll knock him right back.

Repeat until he dies, he won't ever touch you.

It's been ages since I played Golden Axe but aren't all the enemies in that game really easy to take out with dash attacks and/or basic aerial attacks?
