• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Check your email - New wave of Home Beta Invites going out.

If you're someone who has serious interest about Home and will do more than just "check it out" for 5 minutes, then I have a code for you. PM me.

Edit: gone.

theres something strange afoot. I haven't gotten invites for home or resistance or killzone.

i used to get in all the playstation betas...now I don't even get promotional emails lol.

I've been in the beta for a few weeks, but it looks like they sent me a 2nd invite. If you don't have a code yet and will actually use this one, be the first to quote this post and I'll PM it to you.

edit: PM sent.

Yup. It doesn't work for me either. Everytime I start it, the PS3 freezes and I have to hard reset.

.k

Shit, same thing here. I really want to try it since I have both PSP games and really like them.

It's kind of cool, actually. Better than I expected. Strange how you download each main area individually, like the bowling alley, theatre etc. Is there any point to the shopping mall in the beta, or is that just saved for the main Home release?

Aside from the bowling, chess and pool, you've only really got a few arcade games to do so far. Kitting out your den is kind of cool though, mine's totally retro, with a Galaga cabinet and everythin'. =D

I just tried the Japanesse Home, NICE.

The TGS area is really nice, i guess it's a replica of the real one right? If so NIIIICE, nothing works right now but i guess during TGS you could actually do something in there, i got some items just for pressing X next to some setups, there was even a Booth babe that gave me a hat i think

The Cental Plaza is HUGE but it has no music area for people to dance, it does have a nice pier with a really nice view.

The bowling alley has the namco arcades wich launch the game but only the one you select in the cabinet and not the entire app.

I'm liking Home more and more, you can also change the wallpaper on your japanesse apartment, not sure that option is available in the american home.

Which places gave you items? I got the hat from the concierge, and that's it.

Also, someone asked about the mall above. Its empty but today's notes said they are doing a big stress test tonight, and that the mall will be back full "very soon".

I also noticed that some items were removed from my apartment between last night and today. Essentially everything I touched/moved from the default was gone, and the untouched stuff stayed.

Goddammit 1000 years in the making and no one though of some kind of indicator about where your prize items are? Or at least what they are? Took me ages to get the icebreaker cap. The fuck? Is Sony London that incompetent? Do they need beta testers to realize something this obvious? Jeez...

I've seen one other guy in the closed Japanese Home beta tester page inquiring about it as well. At least the other games and activities are working properly.

When starting the Jpn Home, there is an anouncement stating that the Marketplace has been taken offline in preparation for a server stress test lasting from the 27th of Nov to the 2nd of Dec. During that period, the Marketplace will come online again and Home goods (which will cost money when the open beta starts) will be available for free. So, until the then the Marketplace just serve as another gathering spot...

Edit:

The Mainichi Isshou booth.

I thought this too.

I got prizes in Echochrome, but I had no idea what i needed to get them. Also, they need an indicator of what the new items are, or if you go into your wardrobe, highlight categories with new items in them.

Also, add more arcade machines in the Bowling area.

Also, when adding furniture in the apartment, allow zoom in out, so that you can look at a layout better. And item copy, so that if I want to place 4 chairs, I can click on one and hit copy... then instantly place it.

There are a number of things that need to change, but I assume its all under wraps somewhere. Like furniture and clothing color palettes.

:lol

This is gonna sound weird, but I actually liked having to find out what was new after the namco museum unlocked stuff. It was kind of a surprise.

I know it's not sustainable as the number of items scales though :p It'd be a pain to have to sort through lots of items just to find the new ones. The items should probably be automatically sorted to newest first also, and it should probably provide different ways to sort them.

And I'm sure if I knew Japanese the gift stamps in the namco museum would probably reveal what the items were anyway. There should be a standard pop up though.

Article on Kotaku(ugh) about a bunch of people just lining up in the plaza and doing the running man for an hour.

Video and pics. Made me laugh. :)

AFAIK someone would have to share his/her account details or set up a new account just so the code could be shared with 4 other people.

Anyone care to share their code? PM me please.

What ever happened to that Helicopter game they showed way back in the day as an arcade game in Home? I was actually looking forward to playing that.

It used to be there, they removed and added 2 new ones.

On another note, one thing that Home really does well that a lot of gaffers mightn't totally appreciate is that for people who go online on PSN and who don't have a bevy of acquaintences online to add to their friends list (via places like GAF), it's a great way to build up a friends list. I think most people are like that, and it's easy to forget. It's a lot more..'noob'/casual friendly to have an outlet like this for acquainting with other players, and it's a very unintimidating way to start going online.

THIS. it's actually the main point of home ...which is prob lost on most here .. and game jurno's who may or maynot have had a chance to try it in their offices with there 100s of XBL/PSN industry contacts. just log into home now and you'll see people grouped, sitting, standing, and chatting. It works.

This option is also available in US Home.

So far i'm liking it. Unfortunatelly we don't have much to do because it's a BETA, so I'm waiting some big content in the final version. I found three friends so it was nice to chat and visit other apartments - well, all of them are the same, but it's ok :lol

But I agree with TTP, we really need a spam text saying what you received.

can anyone pm and spare another home code? :(

I actually had an invite, but when I tried to redeem it, it kept giving me an error. (I'm in Canada with a Japanese PS3...dunno if that was it).

So I redeemed it online with my pc (just to check that I wasn't insane and in fact HAD entered the code in properly), but then it said I couldn't download it there...

Went back to try it on ps3 and it said the code was either incorrect or was used it. WTF?!

Give it here :)

Sounds like you need to enter it via US store or it won't work because of your console. If neither work, can I give it a try?

give it to someone he can try, if it works, he can share it with you.. works without problems.

I'd love a code. I've been kind of down on Home from the start but what I've seen actually has me pretty excited for it. Worth asking at least.

Home definitely has potential. I had alot of fun yesterday just playing bowling and pool with random people, making "The Running Man" train, watching guys harass girls and vice versa lol. Though I DID see some people take it a BIT too seriously. The arcade games are also fun. A few people add me to their friend's list. Got rickroll'd @ Home :lol

Certain things are still unavailable but when they are, It'll be a very great service.

I don't think it'll get boring down the line or it'll have empty hallways like people exaggerated. 1.0 has ALOT of improvements over the previous versions and I'm glad they are taking their time.

Oh and my home is FUCKING AWESOME! The scenery outside my home is, dare i say, uncharted-ish pretty. The video streaming is also quick.

Once again, Home can never have a dull moment for every person you meet will be unique. I can guarantee that like trophies, home will have a mandatory game launch starting 2010.

Mines gone - feel bad for wasting a code but that "thing" is utterly devoid of interest and soul.
its a beta. wont get any better if people knock the service on neo gaf. would be better severed to go to the home beta forum to let them know what you think and why. Also offer suggestions. Sony seems to listen when you tell them what you think.

Well I've messed around in it for a bit, had a conversation with a friend, looked at the few available areas along with attempting to recreate myself fairly accurately.

My verdict is that it's a neat and free way for gamers to meet up virtually but the simple fact that it's a separate program means it'll be underused. I'd complain about the size of it as well but the majority of ps3 owners have atleast 40 gigs of space and likely don't buy and install a whole lot of games so it's kind of a non issue for the assumed target audience.

I'm having fun playing Chess in the mall. It's a neat feeling to be playing a game, and to have a few people standing around, watching, and commenting with voice chat or text. Content wise it really needs to be expanded, but the fundamental enjoyment of actually just 'hanging out' with random PS3 users is actually appealing.

The rickrolling was getting kind of annoying D: So I bailed out and fled to Japanese Home.

Can you go to Japanese Home from US Home now ? Or do you have to download another client ?

Were you in this one?

I like voyeuristic aspects of home, listening in on peoples conversations is fun in a weird way.
