Check your registered "Devices" on your Sony account

Hmm just checked and I have 3 PS3 systems (pretty sure I've had the 3 in the past), 1 PSP (no longer have), 2 PS Vitas (I only have one) and a PS4 (I do only have the one). Would quite like clean start.

You can deactivate all your devices at once every 6 months using the website but it's a bit unintuitive. Click on the Account tab -> Media and devices -> deactivate all.

Unless the "hacker" already did this.

Thanks for this! Just done so and I'll re activate the ones I actually own now and label them properly.

A registered system can play the games of an associated account without explicitly being logged into that account.

So, someone else can log onto their account on your PS3 and play your games you downloaded with your account because the system is registered to your account.

Well that doesn't sound good :/

Not the PSPs I guess. They want it to connect it to the PC -_-
Probably because it was an older hardware.
You can deactivate PSPs but the option is under the "Account" and not the "Devices" tab. Click on the Account tab -> Media and devices -> deactivate all.

Anyone have a quick link they can put in OP? Not completely sober yet this Saturday morning and I'm having a tough time finding the right place to check.

Just my one PS4 on there i just make sure to properly deactivate after selling my old systems. Most people just dont bother or forget.

So I just checked my devices and i'm quite scared...I have an additional ps3 system registered to my account..
I do have 2 ps3 systems but I absolutley remember I have deactivated the first one before buying the second.
I have super strong password(like really really strong) and have been very careful regarding all thigs account protection (never shared a game or logged in to a ps system that isn't mine). In any case, I deactivated all my registered systems and activated the 3 I have in use again..hope that's enough.

I had to do this yesterday, someone hacked my PSN account and I had to deactivate all my accounts to remove them.

I then changed my password and added the five digit protection.

I see three PS3 and three PSVs. I guess I never deregistered my old Vita or my old PS3. I wish there was an easier way to tell which was which though!

You'll have to call up CS and tell them you no longer own or have these systems and would like to take them off your account. If they try to tell you that you need to do it physically, then tell them you can't because you obviously don't have them or have access to them. They should be able to take them off for you, but they might deactivate all your systems and then you got that whole 6 months thing to wait out.
Yup, this happened to me when I got my PS4 in late 2014, someone had already activated their PS4 as primary. CS deactivated all systems on the account, I changed the password and reactivated mine. I've been checking regularly ever since.

The thing about the website saying you can't deactivate all systems because you did so in the last six months is BS though. My launch day PAL PS3 was still active on my account, which obviously indicates that all systems on the account had never been deactivated previously.

1 PS4. I have a sony TV but I do not know the benefits of activating it with my account. Unless anyone can tell me why I would want to do that.

I honestly don't know if all the PS3s registered to my account are mine LOL. The thing is, I've gone through three PS3s (original fatty, replacement fatty and when that broke down after the warranty had ended, I got a slim) so they might all be mine but I don't remember whether I deactivated any of the fat PS3s or not and unless I'm blind, there doesn't seem to be any info in your account settings that could help identify which PS3 is which (unless you named them right after registering them, which I didn't). It doesn't even show a registration/activation date. That being said, this seems to be more of a recent trend and the most recently activated device (before I activated my PS4 to use the PC remot play app a few days ago) was my Vita which I activated in 2011 or 2012 so I think I'm good? LOL.

Hm, have one additional activation on my friend's PS3 system. Everything else is normal.

Really dumb that you need to deactivate via the system.

I took the extended warranty for my PS4 from Sony when I purchased it, Would deactivating and then reactivating have an effect on that?

Looks like someone has a PS3 activated on my account that is clearly not mine. Not sure how many other people out there have systems on their account that are clearly not theirs.

This is some serious bullshit, because the "deactivation" has a 6 month timer once you click it so good fucking luck if it happens again.

Reset my passwords and such, but can't deactivate as the timer will reset and Ill be screwed if someone else jumps on the account.

Probably a really stupid question, but how do you check your registered devices?

I feel like this isn't so much an issue of people getting hacked as it is people not actually knowing how to deactivate a system, and people forgetting that they once logged into someone else's PS3 at some point.

I bet a lot of people think you just need to delete an account off the system and don't realize you have to go into account management as manually deactivate for playing games and media.

Everything seemed normal, until a third PSP was activated for only video. I only have a PSVita, PS4, and a PS3. I'm pretty sure if that PSP was my vita, the video symbol would have showed up under it, right?

EDIT: Wait, I did have 3 PSPs in my life. I deactivated the first 2, but I guess I forgot the third one when I got rid of it years ago.

Looks like I still have just my PS3.

Any benefit to linking my old secondhand PSP to the same account? Shared wallet for digital shop or something?
...Actually te fact that it's secondhand might be a reason not to bother, lol.

Just one question: if you have a pstv connected to your account, does it show up as a vita on the list? Ive been wondering why i have two vitas listed on my account.

I've got just the PS3 and PS4 registered on the site, as there should be. I removed the fatty from there, when I switched to slim.

this happened to my brother some months ago

someone got access to his account and removed his devices and made his own ps4 the primary console. had to call support to fix it, and they will only fix this a single time, after that you cannot ask support to remove all devices from your account

2 way authentication cannot come soon enough

My PSN account was compromised last week and I found myself the proud owner of $75 worth of NBA 2K16 credits as well. I went to check devices and found my PS3 had been detached while compromised.

I still use my PS3 daily, and while no purchasing has been done for months I was surprised to find my account subject to some type of attack. Upon attempting to reset the password, my user ID was changed and I was unable to protect my account without Sony intervention.

This leads to two major issues on Sony's part:
1) User IDs are able to be changed WITHOUT the 2 step approval of the account owner email. (e.g. I got an email telling me it had changed, where I should've received an email requesting to confirm the change).
2) No 2 factor authentication available (which was confirmed just days after my incident).

How it has taken this long is a mystery. I was also served an extremely unsettling message that read:
"According to the User Agreement all sales are final. However, I will submit your refund request for review. Please keep in mind that if refund is approved it will be done as onetime gesture of goodwill and funds will be returned to your wallet."

I have since cancelled my PSN account, removed my attached PayPal, and will wait for 2 factor prior to returning. To Sony's credit, I did regain control of my account but for the duration of their assistance my account was vulnerable to repeat purchases, fortunately none occurred. I don't need any more refunded money in my PSN wallet.

It seems this is not a seldom problem. Perhaps Sony have been hacked again?

The majority are probably people who have sold systems without deactivating them or have activated their account at some point on a friend's system and forgot to deactivate it afterwards. The PS3 is set up so you can delete your account and even reformat the HDD, but it remains activated server-side on your account despite the fact it no longer retains the log in details locally.

I have the same problem.

Lost connectivity for a few minutes the other day and saw that all of my games and apps were locked. Brought up account settings to activate the PS4 as primary (which is always was), but it told me I couldn't do it as I had already activated another PS4.

Brought up help which said you could deactivate devices via the website, but when you click the link to do so you're shown instructions that inform you that have to deactivate from the device itself.

Brought this up with Sony support this morning in chat and was told I've have to escalate it to another department that would get back to me in 2-3 business days. Asked them to put a watch or a hold on purchases from my account until we can figure out whats what but the agent said their system was down and couldn't do anything.

Sony's back end infrastructure is a crock of shit.

Wow, that's unacceptable. I'd elevate that complaint to a higher-up.

Whoa. never had any funds stolen but had 5 devices registered. Have only ever had 1 ps3, one ps4, and one vita.

So is there a way to deactivate all media devices? There is one PSP, that I don't have anymore, and I want to deactivate it. The gaming side is fine since its activated for my PS4, PS3, and vita, so I assume my account is safe.
