Chick-fil-A is in the midst of testing new grilled chicken as well as a new Grilled Chicken Sandwich as replacements for their current grilled chicken menu items.

According to an employee at one of the test locations, the new chicken features a lemon herb flavor, while the previous version was marinated in a pickle juice-based mix.

Also, while the previous version came pre-marinated, the new version comes pre-marinated but is also marinated again on site.

Apparently, the new chicken is cooked on an entirely new grill and that the plan is for a staggered roll-out in March until all Chick-fil-A restaurants will be serving it by March 31, 2014.

The new Grilled Chicken Sandwich is described in the following manner: "A boneless breast of chicken, marinated with a special blend of seasonings and grilled for a tender and juicy backyard-grilled taste, served on a toasted multigrain bun with Colby-Jack cheese, smoked applewood bacon, Green Leaf lettuce and tomato. Served with Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce."

The old/current version does not include Colby-Jack cheese or bacon. It also includes pickles, while the new version does not.

The new grilled chicken change also extends to Chick-fil-A's chicken nuggets.

If you live in the Southern California area and want to try and compare both versions, I was told that the new Grilled Chicken Sandwich is being tested at Orange County Chick-fil-A restaurants, while locations in both Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire are still serving the old version.

I'd like to try their grilled chicken because I'm sure it's good, but I don't go there very often, so when I do I have to get something I KNOW I will love (spicy chicken sandwich, regular chicken sandwich, or chicken nuggets).

I love their Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich. It tastes great and is only 310 calories. If I'm in the mood to splurge on fast food I usually try and go with the chargrilled alongside a fruit bowl, pretty fullfilling actually. So while I'm excited to taste the new one, I'm a bit worried that they are replacing my favorite sandwich there.

Wait these exist? Fuck I want some.

Also grilled nuggets sounds kinda dope, but their current ones are amazing (and unhealthy but whatever).

I never ate the nuggets but I get the strips all the time. Do they taste the same and if not are they better/worse?

the nuggets are better. i like the strips when i want a taste for something different though.

Love the grilled chicken there. Not a fan of lemon pepper on my grilled chicken...

Hopefully this doesn't end one of my favorite fast food sandwiches

This dude is the man with his posts.

One day I will vista la Westa Coasta and try this so called Chick-fil-A that we don't have here in NYC.

How do they manage to make the chicken look so dry even in their advertisements tho?

Never understood the appeal of Chick-fil-A, even before the homophobia.

Aside from them both being breaded chicken, they're completely different flavors, and the nuggets are better. The strips are tasty too, though.

You guys are missing the biggest part of the news. A sandwich that comes with the best sauce by default? Fuck yes bring it on Chickfila!

It's been a while since I got cards for free Chick-Fil-A.
Only time I go.

They should revert back to the old grilled chicken for their salads. New grilled chicken sucks. I know you can ask for the old chicken with the salads, but a lot of employees have no idea waht you're talking about and still give you that chicken nugget BS.

I always look at the chik-fil-a menu and for a second I tell myself I'm getting the grilled sandwich, but when it comes time to place my order the wrong words somehow come out of my mouth and I end up with a delicious tasty spicy fried chicken sandwich combo instead.

Ooh more over priced mediocre fast food.

You shut your face. CFA is on another level compared to every other fast food place. The price is comparable to other places as well. Well, unless you live solely on the dollar menu when you eat fast food.

My experience with CFA has been mixed. I had it at University of Florida for the first time ever and thought it was really good. Chicken was a little bit too sweet, but damn it was good. Then I went to Emory University and holy shit it was terrible. Breading that was either too crispy or too soggy. Extremely overwhelmingly sweet chicken. Just absolutely gross. However, it seemed pretty popular with everyone else so I don't know if my tastebuds changed or if the quality at the two locations was just that different. I haven't had CFA since then.
