Chill games to play (for after work and stuff)

I love a bit of Diablo 3. On the lower difficulties you can have a real fun time just completely massacring thousands of enemies in a session no problem, with the option to dial it up a bit if you fancy something a bit more challenging.

It might sound a bit weird, but I always play Prince Of Persia 2008 exactly when i'm in your
mood OP. The art direction (and the fact
you can't actually die lol) just makes everything about this game so...calm.

For me right now the games I usually play after a long day of work have been oxenfree, ff7, or gond hone when I was playing thar. Anything slow paced isnusually perfect, thats why i cant wait for the witness.

Noby Noby Boy

It's just about the most chill thing I can think of. I used to play it at 4-5am after intense shifts at a nightclub and it was just heavenly.

I have two, both on PC: Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Car Mechanic Simulator 2014. (2015 is probably just as good.) Both were my go-to "relax and listen to podcasts/music" games for a while, and I look forward to playing American Truck Simulator and Car Mechanic Simulator 2015 at some point.

Outside of VNs/adventure games, the easy to play open world games are neat too

I like walking around in skyrim, and driving around punching thugs in Mad max is great too
Right, any number of open world games are a safe bet.

Never take me to a therapist, just let me cruise around the red light district in GTA 'n call it a day

Love to relax and place some Civ 5 the background music is really relaxing no matter what faction you choose and the games pace allows you to do w.e you wish while you play it.

I love chilling to grand strategy games like Distant Worlds Universe, EU4, or CK2. I love the fact they don't really have typical victory conditions, so I don't have to stress about 'winning'. I can enjoy stomping the world as a superpower, or I can enjoy role playing a smaller nation.

Mine is Diablo 3. Perfect to play with my wife after our respective stressful days at work and just explode monsters for a while.

Euro Truck Simulator 2, you can even put in your own playlist to listen.

Also Endless Ocean on the Wii, so relaxing to mess with ocean life!

Kerbal Space Program. Its so relaxing doing a transfer orbit to another planet that naturally involves a close flyby of a moon. Just do the prograde burn and then sit back and enjoy the scenery at your own pace.

Also another vote for Endless Ocean 1 and 2

Civ 5 is my go-to chill game. Its turn based so you can play in your own time and doesn't get too hectic or stressful, and it runs on a reasonable decent laptop too, so you can play whilst sprawled out horizontally on the couch if you please.

Darkest Dungeon
Insanely relaxing. No stress involved whatsoever.

Yup, It's relaxing because you are a leaf in the arms of a tornado. You thought the Destiny RNG was malicious, no no no no no. Darkest Dungeon's RNG is an utter Cunt.

It's so easy to play that it is relaxing regardless of the oppressive atmosphere, visuals, music, voice acting... all of it is oppressive and despondent. Which is great because you're willing and eager to go to your warm and comfy bed after playing it.

I play Same Game for Windows, umpteen variations of Solitaire like Spider, Zombie, Fairy. Dead Man's Hand and i'll pick up any Hidden Object game i can find on sale as they are great for winding down with while listening to podcasts or whatever.

So much good taste here. I can't even come up with a unique suggestion.

ETS2 (seriously, do it), AC:NL, and GW2 are my personal favorites. I'm usually not trying to do anything that feels like "work" after work and the gym, and exploration and general free-form games do the trick for me.

With that in mind, perhaps The Witness might be good as well, even though puzzles seem awfully like that "work" stuff I dislike.

Ive been in exactly the same state of mind OP and Ive sunk a bunch of hours into Tropico 5 as I find it the perfect chill game. Nice short chapters, Caribbean music, bribery and corruption. Perfect game for it.

Kentucky Route Zero is one that comes to mind. Pretty linear point and click adventure with a laid back soundtrack. It has a pretty great art style as well.

Casual Heros of Storm with a party of friends . Games are short , average 15-20mins per round , teamplay and objectives are varied and essential , and battles are fun and responsive .

Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Seriously tbough, Unfinished Swan is kinda cool for chilling out. Gone Home is a really relaxing too.

If I'm not tired I'll play a pick up and play competitive game like Titanfall or a couple of credits of a Shmup like (Eschatos, Mushihimesama Futari or Crimzon Clover) or Pinball FX2.

To relax then I'd recommend a grindy dungeon crawler like Etrain Odyssey or SMT: Strange Journey (DS/3DS) on a handheld layed on the sofa or bed.

I don't have Outrun but Daytona USA on the 360 was my main daily chill out game for well over a year

Eve Online mining in high-sec: bring a pillow.

YES! but only with a few good corp (guild) mates chatting over Teamspeak which makes it the virtual equivalent of fishing with friends
