I don't think you quite know what "domestic animals" mean.
Anyway, not going to defend the practices of the Chinese nouveau riche, some of whom obviously have more money than sense or civility, but the amount of ignorance and xenophobia of some of the people in here is also staggering.
Because some of them are causing the deaths of one endangered animal, we should do the same to a different endangered animal? Because two wrongs make a right, obviously? Even if said in jest (which I damn well hope was the case), it's stupid. And then there's the equation, both implicitly and explicitly, of a few with the entire country. I wonder whether those people hate every country on the face of the Earth following that attitude, or whether it's reserved only for specific countries?
Never saw the allure of ivory...maybe hundreds of years ago, before people could make pure white stuff to carve...but now, its just white material to work with...they can just make a fake tusk from some pure ceramic compound and tell people to carve them? right?
