I wonder how much work they actually did.

Considering just how close the gameplay looks, it was probably a lot of work. Not as much work as a new game, but almost as much as a port. They can shamelessly rip off the assets, but the gameplay had to be ported over. I'm actually impressed how much they were able to copy, this looks like a downport that you would see on Wii. Which is why I'm surprised they didn't just put in a little extra effort and make it not a shameless rip-off, but it is China after all.

Yeah. China Uncensored is a FalunGong channel, that does the same the Chine government is doing just vice versa.

Besides that Chinese companies dont get away with it. Its just that most people dont sue them besides some bigshots like Blizzard and they usually win (even against Tencent).
