It's interesting because the tone of it implies there's no plans for Cap beyond Infinity War: Part 2. They needed him to extend his contract in order to wrap that up, but the subsequent explanation is that it's only to cover Infinity War itself.

You can certainly make the side character argument for the first film, but not the second.
Yondu had as much if not more screen time than Rocket and Baby Groot. Would you not consider either of them main characters?

Whedon filmed an alternate ending with Pietro standing with the team, just in case Disney wouldn't let him kill off the character. They stuck with letting him die.

Can't believe there is even a debate as to the next Cap. It's clearly Bucky and it's not even in any form of doubt it's so obvious. Plus falcon doesn't have any powers. Bucky has the super serum knockoff in him so he's powered up. Plus he's going to get a shiny new vibranium arm for his slumber party in Wakanda.
