All he needs is a gigantic pair of glasses and that's half the battle right there.

Yeah you're right they should have cast those four actresses that you like instead of these four actresses that you don't like. Does anyone else think it's fucked up Clive Owen isn't playing Doctor Strange?

I don't necessarily like those four, they have not done brilliant in everything they were in, but they are more unique than the current line-up - which is my issue. It does not even have to be those ones I picked - just a more broad range of humour styles would do.

My issue is a bunch of people with far too similar comedy mindsets are working next to each other. In the original, none of the actors could have swapped their lines with each other. With the current lineup, I feel all the jokes could be interchangeable,

Of course, go on and put more words in my mouth if you want. That's really helpful.

Please define the "humor styles" of each of the eight past and present Ghostbusters and compare and contrast them with their contemporaries.

That's nice.

I like the all female Ghostbusters idea... but man, I wish Melissa McCarthy wasn't the lead on this. I find her insufferable.

She's not the lead. It's basically Kristen Wiig & Leslie Jones' movie. McCarthy is basically Winston. Except they probably won't waste her like Reitman/Aykroyd/Ramis wasted Ernie Hudson.

After seeing Spy and looking at Hemsworth's comedic moments in his filmography, I think it's a safe bet to assume his character's joke will be a combination of:

A) He's hot.
B) He patronizes women (at first).

How do you know this? Not that I doubt you, but I have not read anything indicating that. Personally I am most excited by Wiig and McKinnon.

Smart. A part of me thinks this is just fun casting, the other half knows its' because he's going to end up joining the inevitable spinoff team of male Ghostbusters led by Channing Tatum & Chris Pratt.

Would've preferred Chelsea Peretti as the secretary, but again - cool if this is actually inspired casting.

Fair enough. Though I'd hope to see something more than just dumb/beautiful hulkling. I do like the suggested idea of making him nerdy

Watch Spy and take note how Feig used McCarthy/Statham.

There won´t be a all male Ghostbusters.

how do you know this? that's really tight if true though. jones and wiig are the two i was actually down for.

Briefly after Fleming at Deadline poisoned the well with his garbage reporting, McWeeny over at Hitfix essentially countered it by describing the general plot of the film via the script that was circulating town at the time the news broke. Sony got a hold of him and asked him to take it down, though, so it didn't get spread as much as Fleming's initial reporting did, leaving a lot of people to just generally assume this is a Melissa McCarthy movie.

But the basic beats of the story were out there for awhile. Probably still searchable, I'd imagine someone C+P'd the whole thing into a forum or two. Might even be in here somewhere.

Yeah, that would be refreshing. The only thing I'm concerned about is the seemingly inevitable scene of the girls fawning over him and trying to make as many crude comments as possible in a vain effort at comedy.
Hell, it's even become overplayed where you reverse that and have a group of guys drooling over a hot secretary. Just totally overplayed in general. I don't know, maybe I just find it more funny to have a handsome Hemsworth as a secretary, falling for any of these women, but despite his looks, they aren't attracted to him and don't give him the time of day. That's fuckin' hilarious, especially if he's the one making attempts to be noticed, and is fawning over the girls, but it's all just one-sided.

Okay, maybe I'm misremembering the first Ghostbusters movie but does anything even similar to either of the two scenarios you described even happen with Janine?

Can someone tell me why this is supposed to be genius? It seems like one of the go-to things to do to salvage a bit of comedy.

Cast a big name 'hotty-wood' actor in some role reversal and either emphasize his looks or down-play him to make him the geeky guy, with the optional factor of making him bang Melissa-McCarthy.

I've still got no hope for this.
