Instead of being a foil for the team, he'll just be a sex symbol for the ladies to faun over during the movie. I mean, that'll bring in a wider demo at the BO and equal opportunity fanservice is good, but right now idk how well that'll play in the movie.

I think she's pretty funny. I don't think it's fair to call her a "walking fat joke," nobody really comments on her weight in Spy at all, and they never really play it up for laffs either.

Did you see the Heat?

Because half of the jokes in that movie revolved around just that.

What is the reasoning behind this?
Cos if they're going to do the whole Thor taking his shirt off shit and make him a sex object for the ladies, that will be retarded and is something that never happened with Janine. Hell, the sauciest she got was unrequited flirtation with Egon, and the sauciest Dana got was floating above her sheets in a big old kimono or something while Venkman made jokes about it..

This needs to not be unwittingly dumb, but everything I know has me feeling like it will be. They've took a brave direction with the cast they need to back it up with something good.

Though he’s mainly known as an action star, Hemsworth apparently loves a good comedic supporting role too. He’ll soon be seen in Vacation, plus he was HILARIOUS in Blackhat.

hey now cmon now

Lot of people not giving it a chance because it's rebooting a beloved franchise without any of what made it special in the first place- the talent behind it.

so what? there is no new talent ever? this could be excellent and I loved ghostbusters 1.

Ugh.

I've been against this from the beginning. Not because of the female cast, but because some movies shouldn't be remade (or have new iterations tacked on). Ghostbusters is one of those movies. Back to the Future is another. If we see a remake of BttF, I fucking quit.

Come up with new ideas, Hollywood. And get off my lawn.

Are you yelling at projections? We don't know how he will be used.

Im aboard the idea of sexy secretary Thor, that's hilarious and pretty fitting for a movie whose defining trait so far is "gender reversed" stuff.

Okay, maybe I'm misremembering the first Ghostbusters movie but does anything even similar to either of the two scenarios you described even happen with Janine?
There wasn't really any of those scenarios specifically LIKE that given that Janine wasn't presented as the "hot secretary". The think about Ghostbusters was, they were pretty much working with what they had at the time, and hired Janine because she could do the job(and she does it damn good.... "GHOSTBUSTERS.... WADDAYA WANT!!!?"). She rarely showed affection to any of them other than Egon, which was blown up considerably with the cartoon. In Ghostbusters 2, it seemed like she was starting to inch towards Tully.

Those large glasses and that short new wave 80's hairdo though....

It made her look kinda cute. I never liked how they changed her appearance in the second movie..
Looking back from now, that 80s nerd looks IS chic(hipster-chic), but back then, Potts was "made down" to look nerdish. It was kinda a thing back then to have characters like that. This wasn't the spunky Annie Potts of Pretty in Pink.

But yeah, remember the 80s, when nerds weren't supposed to be chic, cute or adorkable, but were the "meh"s of youth social culture? Might be hip now, but back then, it wasn't an appealing trend. They were regulated to side characters and rarely got happy endings(unless they were those "hot looking guys/girls that just happened to be super smart and didn't stand out as looking out of the norm"). If anything, while I still love the 80s(and 80s pop culture, forever), I love seeing more and more movies revolve around doofy looking main characters and quirky adventures(something that probably wouldn't fly 20+ years ago).

GHOSTBUSTAZ WADDAYAWANT?

Do you have any hobbies?
