Chris McKay discusses his Nightwing film.

The story of Dick Grayson, becoming Robin, then becoming Nightwing played out for us, the audience, in the comics in REAL TIME. It wasn't a flashback. We experienced it. So all of Robin/Nightwings successes and failures we were along for the ride. And people that underestimated Robin or dismissed him perhaps had their opinions changed as we watched him "grow up" right in front of us. His relationships, his conflicts with Batman et al felt real to me because he was the window character with which we experienced Gotham city.

Can't wait for his take. Seems he really understands the character.

Sounds like he has a good grasp of Nightwing.

Now how's he going to bring that across in a movie where we've seen none of the things he highlights as being integral for the audience to experience to be with Dick on the journey into Nightwing?

His reasoning is kinda similar to what makes Cass my favorite Batgirl.

Sadly getting into Dick Grayson's stories later(born in 90), you do see him progress so well but then hits that comic purgatory rarely ever getting out.
Still Nightwing definitely established himself as a top tier comic character.

I'm guessing copious amounts of flashbacks to pivotal days in his Robin career, sprinkled here and there in the film.

That's neat.
Now, how about dat butt? They better not mess that up in the film. I expect the firmest of butts for Nightwing, only way to do right by the character and its fans.

I'll believe he understands the character when he starts talking about gratuitous butt-shots.

That's neat.

You might want to look out for a certain statue when the SDCC news start dropping. There'll probably be a thread about it.

That would be the only way to do it I suppose. But you'd need Batfleck to agree I imagine. This'll be interesting that's for sure. Hopefully Wonder Woman interesting and not Suicide Squad "interesting"

That description would be so much more relevant if this were for a Dick Grayson solo tv series and not a film. Still excited though.
